I've had a Rodecaster Pro 2 since Christmas I love it I think calling it an audio interface is a disservice I think its one of the best audio interface which helps when you want perfect audio like professionals. I think the rodecaster brand is still fine for people who want that audio that's all I use it for anyways with obs and keep my settings on obs locked to my prefrences.

I’m going to buy one literally right now after having a stream deck plus and Wave XLR. The stream deck just has way to many buttons that I don’t need and sit their a while setting it up but the Wave XLR is the most overpriced audio interface. If it’s for the software you get that with the stream deck but you can’t even go from headphones to audio monitors on their actual “interface”. I was wondering if it’s worth buying another interface with the stream deck but it I like the all in one product and I can technically have a stream deck on my iPad. As a basic streamer and starting podcast Rode is solid I think. I will say I looked at Aver Media for half the price

The microphone processing is very cheap and can all be done with free stuff, and you're missing out on the flexibility of being able to put processing on every track and any free vsts out there a better deal would be the Presonus Quantum ES 4, then you could use studio one for processing and routing and you'd have a LOT more flexibility and control over your sound
@ZackKo9 ай бұрын
Great video. I came from the GoXLR to the Rodecaster myself and one other thing I've noticed is routing tables need a huge update on the Rodecaster. GoXLR had stream deck integration and routing table change settings for in the fly single button press changes. The Rodecaster on the other hand takes about 7 button pressed to change a single audio route. I just yesterday suggested to someone to get the Wave XLR and Stream Deck + over a Rodecaster for these exact reasons. The Rodecaster is currently, for streaming, a huge waste of potential. Its an amazing product with an amazing value proposition, but it just can't live up to the potential it has without some major software tweaks. The hardwares all there Rode, now if we could just get some streamer oriented updates for routing, mixes, and audio lines this would be the biggest no brainer for every streamer out there.

Wanted to comment here for all those with dual pc's. Yes people get buggy ones and things will mess up from what I hear (mine has been fine so far) but for streaming with 2 computers this thing is amazing and was my only solution. Tried Goxlr and a few others but they did not have the sound quality I liked without sacrificing my own audio so my audience could hear it better. (I had to do a strange setup with my Elgato capture card to make it work nicely with the goxlr). This is just my own experience though and you also have to put into consideration the cords you use to power it if you use a regular cable it's gonna say a serge is detected as it will attempt to charge the device. For those curious I use two pc's with the same MSI board and my headset is the nova pro wireless note to connect to this device with less noise you will need a 6.35mm 1/4 Male to 3.5mm 1/8 Female Stereo Headphone Adapter Audio Jack if you plan to plug it into the back. The front does have a 3.5mm port though if you want to try that. So far sound on this has been amazing and controlling all my audio's is smooth as the goxlr I tried before. But ah if you only have one pc this is really overkill tbh.

Did you try using the window's "listen to device" through one of the Rodecaster channel so you can adjust the volume level on the rodecaster instead of using a virtual one? Granted i'm using the rodecaster on a single pc setup (2 usb connected into rodecaster duo) and it works fine tbh. My setup is the main audio out is through my Topping Dac/Amp, and all rodecaster's audio (except for mic) goes through "Listen to this device" playback in windows volume setting

How is the wave xlr headphone audio quality? Main reason im lookin RC duo is the high quality headphone outputs. Wave xlr looks really cheap and only 3.5 jack. I just want high quality mic sound with sm7b & good quality headphone audio no matter what studio headphones i use and faders to control game audio and discord thats it. So is the RC best one for 500$ price point or would be bridge cast better or the elgato setup?

Elgato is a streaming gear oriented company, and that’s why they understand what we need, and that’s why I ditched my goxlr for the stream deck plus, the plus has submixes and VST support which is invaluable. By the way you don’t need a wave xlr with the plus, any interface will do, I’m using a Yamaha AG06 with it, the wave xlr is limiting because it only has headphones output, no monitor output.

100% the lack of support for any hardware to control the Unify virtual channels is a pain - that and the lack of support for VST's on those virtual channels Which is frustrating as all hell because otherwise I'd fully dive into the Rode ecosystem with my Streamer X, rather than half use it because the dual PC interface element is why i bought it in the first place, and have started using it again, but in tandem with Wave Link also

So my GoXLR is on its way out and debating on buying this for streaming. My biggest concern from your video is the inability to put my game audio to a fader. Has this been "fixed" yet? I really like the idea of the wireless connetion for Rode mic's as Ive also been getting into VR streaming and having a wireless mic would be greatly beneficial. Plus I run a Dual PC setup so running USB-C to both PCs seams like a no brainer. Would really love you input if the software has been updated to allow mic/discord/game audio to be addressed to the physical faders

I am not a gamer. I stream live radio shows via OBS/Mixcloud. I have a Shure USB Mic/Shure MVX2U Digital Audio Interface, directly into my PC and use the audio output capture on OBS to capture the music from a Spotify Playlist and audio files on my PC for intro/outro and audio bumpers. It works and sounds good but playing the audio files is clunky. You have to time it to trigger the audio file bumper at the end of a song, make sure you stop the Spotify playlist and then when the bumper is over, start the next Spotify song. Could I use the Duo for this application and use the hot buttons to play the audio files on my PC? Would I still have monitoring issues that you discussed? If you have a better option, I am all ears. Thanks and great presentation.

Every RodeCaster I've had (2 RodeCasters Pro, and so far 2 RodeCaster Pro 2's (about to send this one off for the same repair)) have had the exact same issue where my pads just start firing on their own whenever I touch my desk. Good power, firmwares updated, separate circuit, different PCs, etc. When I get it and reconfigure it for my settings (thanks SD Card!) it works great for a couple of months until it starts having the same problem again. This last one worked for me since March of 2023. I've since purchased the Wave XLR and Stream Deck+. The only annoyance I have is when my computer wakes from sleep the headset or Wave Link software may or may not be talking to one another, and sometimes I have to kill both the Stream Deck and Wave Link software and restart them. Other than that, it's been great.

That PC sleep/wavelink/stream deck issue is driving me insane. How is it not addressed? Sorry to hear about your rodecarster, that's wild. @@StreamGearTalk To me, the wavelink/stream deck thing is the biggest problem. I don't know how to fix it. I may end up reaching out to support. I would also love to have a 2nd PC input. on the Wave XLR or something. I used that a lot on my RCP2. There IS a kind of janky work around with using the input from an Elgato game capture card, and while I do have a couple extras lying around, I don't really want to do that if I don't have to. That said, I am making do with the 2nd PC input on my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless interface. It's not great but it works.

was thinking about getting the rodecaster duo since i needed to use another mic for my set up (currently using goxlr with only one xlr input). did rode ever do anything regarding the fader issues ? something that i use constantly is faders to control discord and system audio separately. not a deal breaker but a bit iffy now.
@StreamGearTalk5 ай бұрын
No BUT thanks to a fellow viewer such as yourself a solution has been found to add 4 sources on a fader each to the duo. I'm running mic/PC/ps5/ disc( or music) on a fader each. Video coming soon but basically I bought the Rode VXLR (3.5mm to XLR adapter), a ground loop isolator. Run a 3.5mm from my monitor (this runs my ps5 audio) into the isolator, into the VXLR, and plugged that in to the second XLR input in the duo. That freed up USB 2 now for Spotify or disc or possibly both? Still testing.
