Thanks, Tanner. I am really glad you are with XO. You bring the much needed technical credibility the brand needs.

Hi Tanner. What's the serviceability of this type of system in the field? If the electronic system fails, can you manually set it or will it freeze at its last setting?

Tanner, always great content, thank you. With all the extra weight any adjustments to the engine and transmission? Cheers and thanks!

If you are planning on adding that much weight (drawers, fuel/water cans, heavy bumpers and a winch) to a vehicle not really designed for that will the engine be able move all that extra weight? Will you need to re-gear the axles to a better ratio for the increased weight? I see way to many Jeeps and Toyotas so loaded down they don’t have the power to get out of their own way.

Yes, if you do add a ton of weight, a re-gear definitely helps. I will not be adding that much weight on top of what I have at the moment and in my opinion I have plenty of power from my use. I also came from a 4.0 jeep so any power is a lot of power it’s all based on your own perspective of what you need for power.

I hope you do an update. I'm subscribed so I'll check periodically. I want to know if it's worth spending the time and $$$$$ for the system. Thanks for the initial review.

It’s cool and all for flexing at the local parking lot meet up. I’ll save my cash and run the stock TRD Pro suspension till it breaks.

The suspension seems pretty neat; however, not everyone likes a bunch of different apps on their phone. Having to control it with an app on my phone is a negative for me.

the bigger question is do you really need this expensive mode? I wonder how many miles are you driving on gravel roads? Even these guys did like most asphalt rides in Norway. I think it's excessive mode, but definitely make your ride better, but it's always you can just tire pressure

I definitely probably do not need it. It’s really more about what you want than what you need. I wanted to try it out. We run them on all of our fleet trucks and they make a lot more sense. Specially, the ones in Africa right now dealing with horrible roads, the technology is more designed for desert racing and any application where you’re driving on lots of terrain quickly

The Africans use OME shocks because they are proven to handle the roads out there without needing service. Icon is for yuppie Montana folk.

Buy Icons if you want them to fail early or leak. I don't understand why people keep choosing them over so many more reliable options.

Icons cdcv on our Tacoma. 4 years. 50k miles. 2-4 off-road trips a year. Been decent and I’ve rebuilt them once.
@jerryp3551
@jerryp3551 Жыл бұрын
The fact that you had to already rebuild them once within 50k miles shows they fail faster then they should especially if you were only doing 2-4 off-road trips a year.

Did you pay retail price for your Icon CDEV setup or is this just another advertisement?

Noticed you have the KDSS system. Hoe does the CDEV "negotiate" with the KDSS system? My understanding of the KDSS is that it firms up over 25mph and turns off below 25mph such as when on trails, etc. Can you go more into how the systems integrate with each other.
@Tanner_Johnson
@Tanner_Johnson Жыл бұрын
I’m still messing with it. I believe that the two systems are kind of fighting each other, so makes it stiffer than it could be. I am probably going to experiment more and potentially even remove the sway bars to see what the difference is. As of right now, I found a fuse inside of the cab that goes to the KDSS system and pulled it so I believe the system is disabled but all the sway bars are still connected.

CDEV is basically just the Icon version of Live Valve. There's various companies that have done similar things as well, either as OEM parts or proof of concepts.
