Honestly my biggest mistake when it comes to calorie intake would be being scared to eat too much. Like your self, I was a big boy in high school. But within a year I lost 100 pounds from training and eating properly. However that created a very unhealthy mindset. For the past 3-4 years I have always tried to be the leanest I possibly could. Which meant not eating enough food. I always wondered why I still didn't look the way I wanted to. it wasn't until I realized that I needed to eat enough food to actually gain muscle and look the way I wanted to and your videos have helped with that and I just want to say thank you!

The way I set up my bulk is that I structure my diet to hit my maintenance calories and macros, then just have a 300 calorie snack before bed (e.g. a halo top ice cream, or some cereal, or maybe a candy bar... just something enjoyable before going to bed). Then when I want to maintain, I just don't have that extra snack before bed. Then when I want to cut I just lower my carb intake, so the carb portions get cut a bit and it's usually the starchy carbs I cut and I keep the fruits and stuff (so instead of a cup of rice it might be 3/4 of a cup for that meal, etc). Literally the easiest way to structure a diet ever. If anyone is curious of my macros: 1g protein pr pound, 0.3-0.5g fat per pound, rest carbs

I'm way too late for the contest, but the biggest mistake I made when bulking was not caring where my calories came from. I was just starting out, and the food advice I was given was "eat as much as possible, so that you're always taking in enough to fuel maximum muscle growth." Not knowing any better at the time, I had ice cream every night with dinner. Ended up gaining more inches on my waist than anywhere else. Then I tried on my pants for a wedding I was going to in two weeks, and they wouldn't fasten, because I was up to 200lbs on a frame built for 170. I had to *hard* cut by stripping my calories down to about 1200, spread over 5 meals with one of them being a protein shake. Between the hard caloric restriction and still working out every day I was able to drop 12lbs and 2 inches in 2 weeks and got back into my pants, and I kept the protein and creatine jars as motivation to never need them for that purpose again.

The biggest mistake I made bulking was not knowing when to stop, I was only supposed to bulk for a month and I ended up bulking for 4 months so its safe to say I was looking extra thicc. Started the cut January 1st and I'm only just now finally seeing my abs again😂
@ces41562 жыл бұрын
1 month of bulk? thank god you went for 4 months.... in one month you would have gained just enough to burn during the cutting
@matthewashley77862 жыл бұрын
@@ces4156 The first month was just me eating lots of junk food it wasn’t even a bulk it was just me overeating everyday so it may not seem like a long time but I gained quite a bit

I feel like the issue here is you went dirtydirty dirty bulk. Not the length of it. :p

Biggest bulking mistake that I made was not tracking protein. Often I would be so full from the bulk that I forgot the protein
@MaxxxMaxMaxx2 жыл бұрын
I'm having the same problem, but with carbs :P tracking isn't a problem but having so much carbs is new to me, if i make my usual meals bigger i tend to just ad meats but I have to hold back. I'm about 160 pounds and struggle to eat less than 200g protein a day lol. (Currently in a lean bulk of 3200 kcal(400 above maintenance))

Saving up all my calories till the night was definitely my worst mistake. I’d end up being starving and overeating my caloric intake and gaining fat faster than I should’ve. I certainly learned from my mistakes w that one😂

Biggest bulking mistake is like this video, thinking I could eat anything an everything without recourse. I turned super fat and disgustingly slow lol. I won't even get into what my blood work looked like. Amazing videos as anyways coach Tennyson!!!!

you doing better now my guy?
@pat060612 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah so much better. Especially once I learned how to diet properly. Initially I lost 80 lbs. Got down to 160 and was finally able to perform at the new career I got into. I'm back up to 180 but feel amazing still and been strong in the gym. I'm known as one of the more healthy guys at work now lol which is kind of great.

My biggest "bulking" mistake was to think only about volume and not calories, so I just ate more of high volume food, so I lost a few pounds instead of gaining weight. I know thats stupid, but i was young and had absolutely no clue
@jasperw.27012 жыл бұрын
I did that too for about 5 months. I lost 20 pounds instead of gaining weight

Loved the video Will!! I think the biggest mistake I made when I tried to bulk was just trying to get as many calories in from any source as possible with a big surplus jump instead of taking gradual steps and being more calculated in the calories I was consuming.
@erikjohnson59852 жыл бұрын
Definitely my biggest bulking mistake was forgetting about what i was eating and just eating rather than keeping track and thinking about what i'm putting in my body .
@yashbali88772 жыл бұрын
Biggest mistake was reducing calories every time I gained a little weight or thought I looked fatter. Was coming off a phase of pretty disordered eating and wasn’t in a good headspace about my physique. Learned my lesson quick and put on some noticeable weight though!
@kaceyyoung61792 жыл бұрын
My biggest bulking mistake ever was definitely eating way too many calories and ultimately gaining only fat. I used low volume, high calorie foods like cereal, candy, and dessert and I was still always hungry. Ultimately, after cutting I didn't even gain muscle. FAIL!

I’m not even bulking and I feel the same I’m sick and it’s hard to eat a lot of food so I cheat and eat a little bit of sweets and crap and yeah I’m gaining weight but mostly fat :)

Biggest mistake when bulking was eating at the calories that my Fitbit says I burned. I find it is best to just go with a number (like 3,000) instead of eating at the “calories burned” number (which gets up to 4k a few times a week). I just added a lot of fat quickly when I did this, but it was kind of fun and was a lot like Will’s dirty bulk in this video.

Will, your jokes and puns are just so good! The nut breath joke literally made me do a spit take 😆You are by far the most entertaining fitness KZbinr out there!!!

Biggest mistake was trying to gulp down a mega 2000calorie chocolate peanut butter shake every single day after the gym. That quickly gave me a belly without the arm and chest size needed to accompany it. I've since cut the shakes and opted for leaner, more sustainable options. Thanks for all the advice and great videos Will! :)

@Coffee.and.clovers My biggest bulking mistake was panicking when I started to gain a little fat and quickly quit and went into an extreme cut. I should have just stuck it out, but I was coming out of disordered eating and wasn't in the best headspace at the time.
@caseystewart1002 жыл бұрын
biggest bulking mistake i ever made was cutting out cardio completely! Its always best to keep some form of cardio or step count in just to remain healthy and for optimal digestion

My biggest bulking mistake was eating too many donuts. I actually started off the bulk on November 1st at 12:01 A.M. by eating a dozen. However, Will might disagree and say that’s the perfect way to start a bulk.
