Hi Pete. I'm a beginner and my points counting is not good! Though I do know 12/14 is one no trumps. Following on ie. 15-18 I never remember what I should be bidding, unless I have a long suit. Was wondering if there is a chart somewhere ,where I could try to remember this point scoring? Pete

In board 3 everybody (me included) seems to have missed the correct declarer play. When a heart comes back at trick 3 after a club lead and a diamond to East, it is pretty obvious where the club honors and the heart king are and what will happen if you let the heart run to West's king. Instead the slightly counterintuitive play of going up with the ace of hearts will get you an overtrick. Now you have the tempo to go to dummy with a trump and play a spade from the table and eventually discard your club loser on the spade king for a top.

I found a different path to +130. I led the DQ at trick 2 and got a club back.

Sorry, everyone, this is wrong, Peter also led the DQ. The difference is that I played the 9 at trick 1 instead of the 7. Wow, hard to believe that was the difference.

Hi Peter, last board #8 check it out how to go down 1 it is a nice squeeze Diamonds + Clubs when you play from dummy the last few major cards. Probably doable after 0445 or 0454 count shape on West. That would be an 80%. So 4H it is not as bad.

Board 6, is there a strong reason to play East for the JS or is it just based on the presumed diamond lengths based on the bidding? Board 7, I only raised to 2S and even though partner bid 4S anyway, that impacted the defense as East tries the AH after ruffing the second club. I can still make it playing along the same lines as you, or by simply ruffing the third diamond with the queen instead of the ten, but I didn't really have the same clues to the distribution so I went wrong. Board 8, I went conservative and passed 3S but to no avail as West jumped in with 4C, which I'm not even sure we can set. I reluctantly went on to 4H and ended up down 2 as well. Curiously the winning result was to bid the hand entirely wrong, starting with a double and then bidding 3D. It's the worse trump suit in multiple ways but it shuts the opponents up and that ends up being more important at the table.

I got 10 tricks on board 4 and it's not because I did not take finesse, but because I put J of clubs on trick 1. Didn't think it would matter, but it did matter indeed. Also good job on board 7!

On board 4 was it worth considering playing 2 top trumps then trying to pitch 3 hearts on a diamond and 2 clubs?

Board 3, go up with the A of hearts and play diamond to dummy to lead a spade. Losing club goes away...

I just hate to lead a small card from a suit which has a A,K or Q. it's easy to give opponent an extra tricks

5 pushes, #3 is described below, and I finagled +690 on #5. Basically I flew up with both red aces and that gave me the tempo I needed. I let at OT go on #6.

My question is the title 😤😤

It is fine to lead a doubleton. Either out of desperation or if you just need a passive lead. Partner will expect you have a singleton a lot of the time which can cause issues though.
