RE and English or any other subjective subject is definitely worth it. Remarked RE got 12 extra marks on 1 paper . English got 6 marks . Maths and Science only got 1 to 3 marks . Maths and science should be closer to boundaries.

In English lit, I was consistently getting 9s and 8s all year and my teacher was an examiner. I personally thought that the exams went well and on results day I came out with a grade 7. I was really disappointed with that and was shocked as I thought I had done way better than that. I am considering getting it remarked as I had got a grade 9 in English Language therefore it does not make sense.

Emily Smith usually on the exam board website. Just look up your exam board followed by GCSE and the subject and then grade boundaries 2019. Eg. Edexcel GCSE Maths grade boundaries 2019. Hope this helps 😊.

LeeXtra you can choose priority remarking which allows remarks to come back quicker. I think it usually takes 3/4/5 days depending on the subject; although it could take a week maybe if there’s high demand for remarks

I had my maths remarked to see if i could get a 6 and i just explained to my sixth-form that my maths paper was getting remarked to see if i could move up a grade. They didn't have any problems- was even able to get onto the courses that required a 6 in maths since i was so close to the boundary anyway. They just want you to keep them informed and take your letter that you receive when you get your grade back into the office so they can update their system It should be totally fine!

Hi Ruqayyah its a tough decision, do you need a higher grade to get on to A-Levels or a college course? if yes then you might want a remark. If you don't need to get higher grades then try and be happy with the ones you have. When remarking grades can go down as well as up and you have to accept the new grade, remarks are also expensive. (AQA £37.55; Edexcel £46.40; OCR £48.50; WJEC/Eduqas £43 per paper, not per GCSE) and while if your grade changes you get your money back, there is no guarantee that will happen. Essay subjects like English are more likely to change, as they are more based on the opinion of the examiners, and subjects like maths and science are less likely to change. Hi LyonRBLX its a tough decision, do you need a higher grade to get on to A-Levels or a college course? in English or maths and you'll have to resit next year. How close were you to the grade boundaries? When remarking grades can go down as well as up and you have to accept the new grade, remarks are also expensive. (AQA £37.55; Edexcel £46.40; OCR £48.50; WJEC/Eduqas £43 per paper, not per GCSE) and while if your grade changes you get your money back, there is no guarantee that will happen. Sometimes schools pay if you were very close to a 4 especially in English and maths, but not always, you might end up paying out hundreds of pounds for nothing. Edexcel is offering access to your papers for free, so a teacher can look at them and decide if you got a fair mark, and then you can discuss with them if you need a remark. hi Apocalyptic Potato, The results slip only shows the overall grade you got, talk to your teacher or exams officer if you want to see what you got for each individual paper.

i’m 4 marks off an 8 in english language but the examiners have been very mixed in language apparently. what’s the lowest they’d let my grade decrease by? since marking in english language is very subjective

No it is not true , ofqual have clearly stated a 4 is a pass and it will stay that way due to the difficulties of this 9-1 system . A 5 can be represented as b minus / c plus
