I am really wanting to do this on my 81. I've been waiting for someone to do a longer term review

I have a locked up 750, and Im getting ready to do a complete rebuild and possibly EFI conversion while I have it torn down.

When dropping down from a bank of four carbs to a two-into-four set up, you will lose a little top end horsepower. If you miss it, you can alter your final drive ratio (drive and driven sprockets) to suit. Jetting differently will also help mitigate any top end power loss.

Sorry, but incorrect. We dyno test each and every one of our kits and don’t release them until they out perform the stock carbs at all ranges.

I just picked up a Yamaha XS1100. If I can get the engine moving again, and if it fires with some starter fluid, it will be getting a similar treatment to your bike with the Murray Carbs. The original carbs could be rebuilt, but I like how much simpler that is.
@billsfabworks31882 жыл бұрын
Congrats man! Love those bikes was thinking about the xs650 soon! Keep me posted on when you get it running!

Did you ever end up buying those carbs for your bike I ended up getting some and can’t seem to figure out what I should do with the vacuum advance sense there’s no where to connect them also I have vacuum petcocks and I don’t know if I should keep that or replace it with some regular ones.
@JoeBManco Жыл бұрын
@@monkymann2171 I am planning on getting them soon. We decided to wait until after my union got through the next contract, which they did two weeks ago. The vacuum advance will need a nipple added to the intake.
@monkymann2171 Жыл бұрын
@@JoeBManco I was thinking about just putting it in that intake manifold gasket but I wasn’t sure. Do you know anything about the petcocks? If I still need the vacuum?
@JoeBManco Жыл бұрын
@@monkymann2171 No specific knowledge, but as a machinist I am not afraid to drill and tap or plug anything. Most of the time it works out.

good topic. I just got my 81 cb750 titled today from Vermont DMV. So... that title is on its way in the mail to me. I'm glad it worked!

@@billsfabworks3188 Thanks Bill. I did a weird thing tonight and put socks on my filter pods and it got the revs up where they should be, so I'll test run it tomorrow! and argyle socks come in so many cool colors
@travisshrey67202 жыл бұрын
@@Mojokiss That is your carb's way of telling you they are lean - you added a restriction to the airflow and now they run better. Go up a jet size or lower the clip on the needle.

@@travisshrey6720 I got the micro drill bits. So I'll try to figure that out

@@Mojokiss rather than drill out and ruin the jets you could just order them from jets r us, they are only a couple bucks.

Just got my daughter a Suzuki sv40. Single cylinder 650cc. Only 5k miles but runs like crap. Just ordered the Murrays kit for it! Fellow Valley of the sun rider!

As your throttle sticks when you're playing with your bars clamp bolts hahah. Ya. I've been fighting Murry's cables, too. I actually put helper springs INSIDE my VM34 slide springs to force carb slide return. My throttle is just extra stiff now
@drakeb616810 ай бұрын
Wait, is that the cause for the rev hang? Been fighting that for awhile, no vacuum leaks, reinstalled carbs and have cables routed over the frame and the rev hang is worse!

so these get rid of the vacuum system and push pull cables and make it just one and also gets rid of the choke too right?

It gets rid of it all yes, new carbs each have a individual choke though directly on the carbs so no more long cable like stock

I bought an ‘81 CB650 with 5k miles on it runs great and only needed adjustments, as well as being in amazing condition only needing some polishing and very small touch ups to the black paint, everything all original except it came with LED upgraded lights in the headlight and turn signals and the rear turn signals removed for a small brake light tag holder for $2,000 last month 😆 I’m going to get this Murray’s Carbs kit anyways though and then rebuild the 4x OE carb with the new gasket/jet kit and do some comparisons, then shelf the OE carbs so they stay with the bike. Unless there’s no actual difference in performance between the OE and Murray’s carb. In the case I’ll either return the Murray’s or resell it.
