Thity years ago (showing my age big time), I lived in Costa Rica after 4 years of high school Spanish and a year of college Spanish. I had the privilege of learning a whole new way of speaking it, including using vos. Since then, I have a San José, Costa Rican accent and the dialect to boot. I lived in Puerto Rico and México, too, but I never lost my love for Costa Rican Spanish. 🇨🇷❤ Edit: I meant to say, great videos! It's practical, down-to-earth Spanish that is easy and fun... not text bookish at all. Great job!

I've wanted to learn Mexican Spanish specifically since I learned that there are different Spanishes. However, I've been settling for 'Latin American' Spanish because I haven't found a ton of resources that are more specific. Just found you're channel though and have downloaded the app. Thank you.

I started learning Spanish about a year ago and I started out with "neutral" spanish but the last few months I started to enjoy Colombian Spanish (especially the Paisa accent) more and more :)

I travel in Colombia often. Paisa accent is wonderful, so are the llanero cowboys from the areas of the llanos orientales.

For practical reasons it would be ideal for me to focus on Mexican Spanish due to wear I live. But lately I've been listening to more Colombian Spanish speakers. Once I get more fluent I really want to learn Caribbean Spanish specifically Puerto Rican for the culture

Living in Arizona, I am most interested in Mexican Spanish, and also enjoy the three main accents in Mexico. Norteno, Mexico City and I forget the name for the southern Yucatan region. Very fun! And don't forget Cuban, which seems to be a dialect of its own, not the same as Caribbean Spanish. I volunteer in a refuge center and hear lots of dialects, including from African countries colonized by Spain. Very interesting to sort out meanings and pick up French influence, etc. I must admit I totally block out the use of vos, so, there goes Argentina and Spain, too, if I'm not mistaken. P.S. I love JIVEWORLD.

0:08 Somebody probably pointed this out already, but that is not Equatorial Guinea on that map. That is Guinea, the French speaking nation in West Africa. Equatorial Guinea is smaller and farther south right above the equator.

Thanks for “pedo” in Mexican Spanish. Just moved to Mexico and have been working with a tutor here, but this one hasn’t come up yet. Love it! Will definitely work it into my next conversation with her, to get her reaction, lol.

I can boast several Spanish dialects; several in Northern New Mexico - every "town" has quite different lingo. Also Nahuatl (Aztec) words are pervasive. I also think there is some Comanche or something in some of it.

My original exposure in high school was from a native English speaker teaching mostly Western Hemisphere influenced Spanish. When I went to Spain, I asked, offhandedly, "¿Quién va a manejar el auto?" which was basically straight out of my textbook. I was not understood at all, and my friend had to ask me in English, "What are you trying to say?" And then she told me-- "¿Quién va a conducir el coche?" was the right way there. By that time, I felt like an idiot and of course, the question was just small talk and it felt like I had somehow made a big deal about nothing. Not the most confidence-building first sentence to come out of my mouth. 🫣

I've learned the most unadulterated form of Spanish is from Ecuador and Colombia with Mexico coming in third. Of course, this is outside of Spain, because many of us don't want to learn the lisp.

Are you lisping when you pronounce in good English "Zoo" or "Booth"? What you say about Iberian Spanish pronunciation only probes that you are a disrespectful ileterated

mexico, peru and colombia accents / speed very easy but I recommend to first learn Spain accent and accustom to speed of language. Because If you learn spain's accent, other accents and their speeds will be "piece of cake" ıf you don't listen to me and learn some Latin American slow and easy accents. you gonna accustomed low speed. It will make your ears very lazy and so hard to understand faster and difficult Spanish languages. start with hard and you will see how easy rest in the end of your journey. don't do opposite!
