Amazing tool for your private, delicate and complex shape parts where high speed/power clippers can be bit brutal ;)

Super informative! Thank you very much for making this! The “Take Away”: If you live in a remote area and need to do basic mens haircuts…to start with a set of manual clippers and then progress with a comb and scissors can totally work with practice. Thanks again!!!

My wife uses manual clippers on me. No hair pulling. She cuts the transition doing scissors over comb. We just bought "madeshow" manual clippers. Even they are from China, they are really high quality!

My brother got a set off eBay, cleaned them up and they work great. Maybe the set you’re demoing on weren’t maintenanced recently or something because I didn’t find it to be difficult to use. Maybe a slight learning curve, but it’s made for a buzzcut so there’s not a whole lot of technique involved.
@CosmoDad Жыл бұрын
Ya, I wasn't really satisfied with their quality. I might do some modifications or get another set and give them another try

my Grandma was a nurse in the Army in Korea in the early 1950's. She said her pixie cut was trimmed with the hand clippers. It would be neat to have my pixie cut trimmed with those clippers too I think

That would be a really cool connection with her ❤️

When I served in the United States Marine Corps I had a pair of old Soviet era Russian bloc hand powered clippers. In Iraq in March of 2003 when we were invading that country to overthrow the Government… there were no “battery powered clippers” or electricity to charge batteries. We didn’t even get a power inverter for our vehicles until deployment number 2. Anyway… my hand powered clippers served me very well functioning as our platoons “barber”. Along with my Classic 76’s when I could find a suitable generator. The hand powered clippers are slow and require a lot of physical effort but for a few haircuts it’s not excessive. They also do require some “skill” to use. The clippers seemed to “break themselves in” and get better (for everyone involved) the more time I used it. I suspect the metal polishes itself and the “action” becomes smoother. If you are in a situation where there is no power and you are just trying to remove hair to stay clean… like they do in recruit training or military service in combat… it’s a great option.

I just got the JRL manual clippers (off Ebay). Definitely more expensive but high quality. Cut my hair, didn't feel any pulling. I'm impressed!

I had no idea that JRL made a pair of these. With an adjustment lever too! I might need to try them. Thanks!

@@CosmoDad I'm also a licensed barber for 25 years. They worked so well you couldn't tell the cut was from a manual clipper.

the other day, i saw some of these at the resale store. I bought them. Cheap. I cleaned and disinfected them. I had about a week's worth of face stubble I wanted to try it out on: in case I become homeless. My face beard is thicc, my chin is chiseled. I am a handsome man, though my face has had some substantial abuse, wear and tear. I started using BIC disposable razors when I had to actually shave, at 11. Worst shave ever. I quickly learned to use the straight razor, as a shavette, by the time I was 13. I loved it. Using a straight razor is great! In 2021, I bought the Leaf-shave twig, which is meant as a modern safety razor, ergonomic and one bladed, which is also great. I also bought the Leaf, which has < 3 blades. So I clipped my week-old beard with these, dry. I did, how ever, lubricate the All-Over hand operated clippers, with almond oil, but I legitimately thought of using my fancy PTFE containing bike chain lube oil, and decided against it. It wasn't awful, but I had to pull my skin tight, and it was hard to clip the cleff of my chin, the sides of my chin, and the edges of my jaw line. It did snag a bit, though my face didn't mind it. I stupidly tried shaving my Lion's Mane (down by my tree and happy plums) and that was an awful idea. I stopped, because it did not work very well. I thought these would replace the electric clippers (eh...) I have, but I will probably keep the electric cord clippers, just because I value my time and prefer the ritual of shaving with a straight razor set up, more than using these hand cranking clippers. I did, how ever, meet my goal of getting my hair clipped enough to use my Twig-safety razor: not that it would have a problem shaving week-old beard stubble if it was that size, or two weeks! I just have lost my huge packet of razor blades and have erronously kept using the same, nearly dull, blade. Probably not the worst, but I used it on my face. My mustache is used to blocking out chunks of shrapnel already.

A good pair should work. Their main downside is that they are designed to be used without guards so it's all or nothing
