There is still controversial in paying for YT ads. But for very a small channel, ads is good for us. I have tried 2 times before. Experiences were good and I am satisfied. It makes the momentum to grow. The people who come into my channel from ads would also watch other videos in my channel, which will bring overall growth to the channel. And YT would push my video more to the frontpage of YT because of the popularity brought from the ads. I don't think this ad tactic is applicable to all videos. Because I deliberately select the video for the ad which has a hot topic and I am sure many people will like and need it. So the audience from ad still mainatain very long view time because my ad really recommend them something they really need.

hi. i am overthinking about promoting my video on youtube ads. since im afraid if it will hurt my channel. my channel is doing pretty good but i just want my videos to get more views than they get usually. so could you tell me anything about this? i mean if ads eventually hurt the channel or not

@@PSTStory It won't, but it will severely hurt your overall standing on KZbin if your channel is already established. This is because ads are shown to people who might not be interested, and your view hours and AVD goes to shit. And that tells the AI that your channel has uninteresting videos, and for many channels, its a killshot. For a brand new channel, sure, it will have SOME appeal, since the AI has no historical data yet, and it can help to overcome a troublesome startup. But other than that, if you want to use Ads on your channel, then use an unlisted video, and make sure it funnels people to your channel. Unlisted videos are not counted at all in the AI, and can therefore be used safely.

I think you should pay for ads but only specific videos where you are trying to sell something in the video. Ads are not for your regular content that you're trying to build your brand on.

I paid for ads when I started and from personal experience it is not worth it, I got a lot of subs on the channel which never really converted to long time viewers, even though I have a finance/investment channel the growth comes naturally and with time. If you try to rush it chances, are you will regret it like I did. If you're selling a product sure, if you're growing a channel buying ads is not the way to do it.

I've found this. Ads brought me a load of subscribers who then go silent (2.7% of my views are coming from those subscribers) and also the views all across the channel drop right off whenever an ad campaign ends...even on video types that were consistently getting a similar amount of views daily.

@@THEDONTTELLSHOW Umm.. that is the usual metrics. Only about 1.3% of your views will ever come from subscribers. They are more a token of standing on KZbin than anything else. That is NOT the problem with the promotions. It will screw up your standing in the AI because it will crush your AVD. And that tells the AI your videos suck, and it won't promote them anymore. Its safe to use promotions as long as you do it on an UNLISTED video, since those stats are never counted. Funnel people to your channel from there. Never promote a public published video ever. It will only hurt your channel.
