Should You Play Pillars of Eternity 1 & 2 Before Avowed?

I started last week PoE for the first time. At first I put it in hard mode, but I just dont enjoy Real time with pause, so I put it on easy and I am loving the word and story. It is DARK and I love it, most fantasy tend to stay on a halfway point of being dark-ish focusing on gore but lacking the depth of themes that makes a story more mature. it is that feeling of dread that follows every quest in the game. Like the one where you have to find this boy on Ondra`s Gift and learn that he was killed for trying to protect a prostituite, while his father was driking away his time. From the moment the mother asked to search for him I knew that that was what happened, and each step that I took towards quest completetion FELT dark. As someone that is a Lawyer in Brazil and worked in criminal cases I can tell you that the felling of knowing what happened and having to tell the family is terrible. And PoE got that just right, whihc is GREAT hahahaha! I am still in Defiance bay so I will not watch the video, but I am excited to get to Deadfire as the only reason I am not loving PoE 1 even more is the combat. Turn Based is just a lot less stressuful and, for me, fun.

Hi there, just came across your channel and this video, kind of funny because I kind of arrived at this thought on my own. Nearly completed my first playthrough of Pillars of Eternity and while I'm really enjoying it I can't honestly say I fully understand everything that's going on! Definitely looking forward to trying Deadfire next and then Avowed down the road. Will look into more of your videos, hopefully you can help me with more recommendations!

Didnt want to watch too far in, got about half eay through but wanted to avoid story spoilers for the most part. But could i jump straight into POE2 or is it pretty much requited to play the first game. I get bad fomo when i feel im missing out but i also have 2 jobs and no time so I'm torn

You can jump right in if you want. There is a backstory dropped on you in the prologue.
