I really appreciate your channel, You are helping me learn a little bit one video at a time, back when I was 19 I bought my first black vehicle and I go so frustrated about the paint. Just picked up a 2018 truck and Im happy to run across your video. I was wanting to preserve the paint as long as I can because I live in the dusty countryside with no shade, Oklahoma sun is hard on paint.

Thanks Scott! Very informative. Greatly appreciated. I'd like to see you spend some time showing how you deal with side panels. Or areas other than the hood. How do you deal with, work around door handles, badges, emblems. Anything special to take note of dealing with side panels? Thanks again.

It would have to be a digital book. It would be nice to have the steps and commentary on what's good and bad written down. That makes it easier than trying to go back and find a particular spot on a video. Digital would also allow for plenty of still shot photos.

I work at a car dealer and let me tell you car dealers beat the hell out of the paint. Any car on their lot will have swirls cause they use cheap products and crappy towels. The paint will be similar in some cases to a used car. So save yourself some money and just buy a used car then pay Scott to paint correct it to new. The second you drive off the lot you've lost 10-20% of the value you just paid for the new car anyway. Which is way more than a paint correct will cost.

Hi Scott , I just bought a brand new Black 2019 Toyota Tacoma a couple of weeks ago , and it wasn’t in my driveway for 24 hours before the neighbors cat was on the hood and put some scratches on it , to make a long story short , I washed the truck , I had seen a video that where the guy used Mother’s aluminum and mag polish , I did try this method by hand using a microfiber cloth and it seemed to take most of them out , it was getting dark and I haven’t had a chance to get back to finishing it . I was wondering your thoughts on this method and if you think I could have done damage to the clear coat , also I was wondering if you knew how generous Toyota is with the clear coat when they put it on their vehicles . BTW I wasn’t aware of your channel at the time , since then I’ve gone out and purchased all the detailing item you’ve suggested . Great channel , lots of very useful information !!!

Great video Scott! Which of the 3 paint preps that you’ve mentioned in your other videos do YOU recommend? After claying, but before applying wax or sealant. 1) Rust-Oleum 251475 Wax and Tar Remover 2) Dupli-Color CM543 grease & wax remover or 3) Orderless mineral spirits? Also how would I know if I have single stage paint on a Niss** 2014?

Scott, thank you for answering my question below, but I just remembered I had another question that is directly related to this video! My mother was in a accident a few weeks back, nothing major. Her car is in the bodyshop right now getting fixed. When she gets the car back, how long would you wait before washing and putting ultimate fast finish on the new paint. I've heard 30 days, I've also heard you can do it right away. Do you have an opinion on a situation like this?
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83436 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't apply a wax or sealant for at least 60 days... Meguiars makes a fresh paint approved glaze called I believe D305.. D305 will give you that just waxed look while allowing the paint to cure and vent... After the 60 days you can apply a wax or sealant:)

Hi Scott, bought a brand new car about 2 weeks ago. Plan to seal protect the car in the next 2 weeks. I plan to follow the steps you just outlined. Since I have been watching your videos, can I use the Rupes wool pad you so raves about 10 days ago? Is that too much cutting power? I thought you mentioned it brought out so much shine with very quick passes with polishing/finishing compound.. or just stick to the black pads? Also upon finishing, may I use ceramic coating first, then use something like a hydrosilex (to “recharge) to finish? Thanks. (I don’t know what’s readily available ceramic coating that I can buy as a general consumer). Appreciate the advice.

Hi Scott, I know I asked this in a different video, but if clear coat is roughly 50 mils thick. With a black finishing pad and Ultimate Polish, how many mils are removed in a 5 pass process, your best guess/opinion? Thanks

You mentioned cleaning the pad a few times in this awesome video. How exactly do you do that?
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83436 жыл бұрын
You can do that by using a soft bristle brush and lightly brush it across the face of the pad to remove spent polish and clear coat, this should be done after each 18x18 area.. At some point you will need to fully clean the pad and flush the pad out with water and let dry and that's why I recommend several pads so you can get through the process faster and just fully clean all pads later... I hope that helps:)

Hand polish is just fine if that fits better into your budget and level of excitement. I bought the Griots Garage Liquid Poly Wax kit which came with applicator sponge and a MF towel. It is designed to be easy to apply either by hand or by a DA-machine (same one used by Scott in the video). They also offer a Liquid Wax 3-in-1 product designed to be applied by hand. On both of these product, go with a very thin application, more is not better. Doing so is a waste of your money and will take more effort to buff to a shine.

@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83436 жыл бұрын
It's a polish glaze so why would you want to remove the fillers? Megs says to apply a wax or sealant after and mentions nothing about a paint prep and again they wouldn't because it has a glaze within the formula.. If you want to use m205 that's a option as well but it can dust plus be a little more difficult to wipe up.. On a new car with very light defects or no defects at all, this polish would be perfect for beginners and with a user friendly experience.. Hope that helps with your question:) Any polish could be used with this step so pick the one that fits your needs and expectations

We are all so used to free videos that we might not consider the fact you are donating your time and are not on the payroll of any of the products you use. That is very generous of you. Might I suggest you do like Luke Wilson does: In the More section below the video he includes links to (mostly) Amazon which awards him small (but cumulative) commission if we use the link to purchase the product. This is not only helpful for him but also to his viewers in noting the products mentioned throughout the video and also in taking them right to the product if they are interested to find out more or purchase it. Just an idea that I believe your viewers would appreciate.

@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83436 жыл бұрын
They are people typically working at minimum wage and don't always have the best tools available to them.. So I will be respectful and not call them hacks.. If you feel they are hacks, why would you let them polish the car if they damaged your paint doing a quick detail? I'm just curious but I agree some detail shops at a dealership can cause issues to the paint and that's why I recommend the owner do it themselves when they get car home:)
