Should you put your Podcast on YouTube?

Because you never know how someone will stumble onto your podcast you want to list it on every platform you can. So what about KZbin?

I listen to many podcasts, audio uploads on KZbin with a still picture. And even when i listen to a podcast on KZbin with a video, i dont even look at the screen, there is no need. So i think personally as a viewer, i equally listen to both videos with a still picture or actual video. And all my friends do the same. So in my opinion, i say work with what you have and if your intention is powerful behind your work, then it will work out for you.

The big advantage to KZbin is that it gives you a sharable link to your podcast episode. To me its best use is as an advertising tool.

Just started doing a video podcast along with the audio podcast. I'm loving it! I have the Rodecaster pro and run the audio out of it into the camera. Livestream them as well. Working great!

I disagree, you can use Libsyn and upload a still image. Libsyn sends the rss feed everywhere, including youtube. If the podcast is your main goal, youtube will provide an easy way for discovery and a still image would not deter a podcast consumer, but it may cause a person that wants to watch a video, but they were never your intended audience.

When i upload my podcasts on yt i put in small segment jokes, an animated intro and just a thumbnail pic of the show ...less views as my audio version of the other platforms but its just one way to get my brand out there

We watched this video before deciding which platform would be best for us and this helped us figure out KZbin is it for us! We tried to do a similar set up to the Supermega podcast, with a background image along with audio and intermittent text changes. Hopefully the effort of editing will be worth it in the long run 🙏🏽

Lots of people use KZbin for background audio so it makes sense to just upload it here as well. I mean it's one more small step, but I can have more comments and my shoe might be discovered by more people.

Nice bit I'm not sure about the advice of needing a video feed. Some like Sam Harris just upload the video to KZbin with a static image and it seems to work fine for them. I feel KZbin comments have enough culture to make up for the lack of video.

We do the live recording of the show on YT, and then edit it down to something which works without the visuals, which 8 shows in seems to be a pretty good system (touch wood!)

There is a completely different strategy to growing on youtube (broll, enticing hooks etc, camera cuts etc) and so I wonder if putting a podcast up on YT would kill a channel. I hear both things.

Do you think there is any point to also making a video excerpt of the podcast as well as uploading the whole thing? The goal of the excerpt is to give people good info (when they are short on time) or will the two videos compete with each other in terms of ranking and SEO (because they are the same topic). I'd love to hear your view on that...

A lot of the people that I plan on interviewing for my podcast are not native English-speakers, so I was hoping to use YT so that I can caption the translations of the interviews. But at the same time, I’m doing my best to protect the interviewees’ anonymity. Any suggestions on how to approach this?

I'm just wondering if it's better to only upload my full podcast or if I should also shorten it and upload multiple segments of my podcast so people don't get bored of watching a 30 to 45 minute podcast on youtube. Having to edit more videos is not an issue for me.

Why can't you just upload a podcast with a static image or gif? I seen PLEANTLY of youtube podcasts (successful ones) that do this where it's just custom art of the podcasters, or their logo. I go to youtube to have audio in the background while I am doing or working on something else. Visuals aren't needed and often times actually distracting when I put a podcast on in the background. KZbin is my prefrence because it's right there in my sub box with everything else. There are people who just upload their songs to youtube. No video except maybe lyrics. The notion where you "need" video is a false premise. The actual main content just needs to be enthralling enough with a good starting audience already.

This likely sounds like a dumb question. But if you are recording a video for KZbin as well as the audio podcast, how do you make sure they are both edited the same? Maybe I am not wording this correctly. I am just getting started. I assume you go about editing your KZbin videos in iMovie or Windows Movie Maker or some other software. However, wouldn't you also have an audio recording that you are editing through Audacity or something else before you upload the file to your podcast hosting companie (Buzzsprout for example)? Is there a way to edit both the audio and video so that they are consistent? I'm such a newbie.

Here's how we edit our videos for KZbin: 1. Record the video with the camera's internal mic audio turned on 2. Record the "better" audio with a podcast microphone using Audacity 3. Bring the video file and the audio file into your editing software 4. Sync the better audio to the video using the audio waveforms from the two files 5. Mute the audio from the camera's internal mic 6. When you're done editing, export 2x files - one with video and one without

Interesting, but IF you initially have the forethought that your going to upload a youtube podcast, then consider the VISUAL as if it is what the Viewer is going to see, a Speaker encapsulated around a mic ! Good viewing point ? Not hardly. Viewers who watch information through KZbin look for eye contact showing you are speaking to Them, not the mic as it is nonessential in regular Podcasting.

Two solutions! 1) Try moving your light source so it's angled above your head height and to the sides of your face. 2) Try out glasses with an anti-glare coating!
