Out of the Fountryside series and City of stairs series, which one did u love more? I’ll be checking this series out, thanks girl :)
@AbbySalter2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm if you'd asked me that before Locklands I'd have easily said Foundryside. Ok I'd say City of stairs trilogy is consistently good - 4 stars Whereas Foundryside/Shorefall are 5 stars with a 3 star conclusion

I am so sad that I didn't get to this one in January.. but you know what my reading and month was like. Your video just helped bump it up on my ever growing TBR though. As all the books you recommend get bumped up.

I'm so happy you enjoyed this series. Foundryside is so good!! And you made a great decision waiting on that third book. The cliff hanger at the end of the second book was crazy!

Really amazing review and I agree its such an under-rated series. I really enjoyed it and THAT ENDING....man I love it as an ending but I really want to see what happens next too. I re-read Foundryside after this trilogy and seeing his emphasis on Gods, government corruption and economy in both and the different things that crossed over and the emphasis was really cool

Thank you Angela! Such a great way to wrap up a series. Satisfying and emotional! I love how he explores these themes in his books - they really interest me and it's great to see them in a fantasy setting. I can't wait now for the 3rd Founders book

Wow! What a strong endorsement for this series. I love the themes this explored. How do you think this compares to the Founders trilogy so far? Did you have any preference between the two series as far as characters, world-building, magic, plot, etc.? From what you've described, this series seems to have more depth, but I would love to hear your thoughts.
@AbbySalter4 жыл бұрын
I'd say they're very different series. This was talked about a bit in the liveshow yesterday. Jessie was saying that with authors like SJM you know what you're getting no matter the series but with RJB these series are so different that you don't know what you're going to get with his books. I'd say Foundryside is more "fun" with witty dialogue and very actioned paced. This series has more interesting world building and set up with darker themes. Foundryside gives you the found family trope whereas these characters are definitely more mature all of them being adults - I really like both sets of characters.

@@AbbySalter Excellent comparison! Sad I couldn't fit in City of Stairs last month, so I had to miss the live show. Maybe someday I can get to it!
