For myself, I keep a neutral grip with my left hand at all times...and I strengthen the right hand (a tad more, underneath) if I want to draw the ball. I do the opposite, if I want to straighten the ball or hit a slight fade. I'll weaken my grip (right hand more on top).

I've been hooking a lot lately and I actually experimented with the spieth release the other day which is what lead me to checking out this video. I'm going to try it today on course. Hope it works well!

I think the interesting bit about the two golfers you're talking about here is that they're both oddities when it comes to playing with their dominant sides. Spieth is a left-hander who plays right-handed as is Norman. With Spieth I think his grip is probably his way of weakening his dominant hand? Even Norman uses an unconventional 'intermesh' grip. I'd love to hear you guys address that in a video. Left-handers who play right handed, and tweaks to the grip that might help them release the club better.

Honestly I've found to just swing naturally and if the ball does what i want then great...I dont worry about anything as far as actively thinking about my hips, my left/right arm, my grip, my follow through, etc....I just aim, take a deep breath and swing soft...now if things start going wrong (push/pull, slice/hook, fat, thin, etc.) Then I'll start examining things...but there are many times I've shot under 80 and I know for a a fact I was saying right on back swing, or chicken winging...it doesnt matter especially when it playing a rd if ur getting what you need...worry about technique on the range only, on the course just swing and trust your range work is in your mind and body

Thanks for addressing this, I've been wondering whether I should try to emulate Spieth's swing. I really like the idea of having increased accuracy by taking hand rotation out of the downswing, but I don't want to sacrifice too much power.

Doesn't Dustin Johnson do a very similar move to Speith? Don't see him losing much power...

The WIB It seems that he does, but I'm not sure how that works considering their drastically different grips.

+The WIB yes Dustin has to rotate very hard due to his face position at the top. Unbelievable athlete though to do so.

Can you guys talk about lengths of back swing. Every now and then when my swing gets a bit out of sync I just shorten my swing to get my accuracy back (with irons) and I've now found I don't lose any distance either. In fact my contact is so much better I can often hit further. This is more the case with my 56 degree to my 5 and 6 irons. Do we really need to coil up so much is basically what I'm asking.

So many similarities to a baseball swing when wanting to hit a ball to opposite field vs. pulling one down the 3rd base line... and for so long people tried to convince me that golf and baseball swings were 0% the same...

Interesting that the three pros you mentioned (Mickelson, Spieth, and Norman) all play the opposite of their handedness. Mickelson is right playing left, while the other two are left playing right. I think a right handed player playing right has to have a middle release like Andy demonstrated.

Hello, can you please do a video on club position for driver? I see many pros put the driver a couple of inches away from the ball and some hover above the ground. Is it bad to put it on the ground and place it as close as possible to the ball like in iron shots? Thank you very much!

Do the 2 different type of releases need to be coupled with a corresponding hip movement. ie wrist action + less hips and hold off more hips. I assume if you mix them up you are in trouble.
@meandmygolf.
@meandmygolf. 8 жыл бұрын
+Martin Moore It all depends on what the ball is doing but generally it is very rare that we tell many golfers to slow there hips down. It is more improving a better movement pattern rather that speed. However generally yes you will usually see that for someone who had lots of club rotation through impect tend to have less hip rotation and vice versa.

+arwel jones yes his left wrist is flat at the top also so this can contribute to his move through impact also.
