I've been taking cold showers for 6 months now, but I do it because hot water strips away the natural oils in your skin and that was causing problems with my skin, since I switched to cold shower, I've seen an enormous change. Also, it's taught me that physical discomfort and pain are just feelings and can be ignored, that has helped with training because it means I can push myself harder without giving up.

Samuel Walls I agree. I had severe dry skin and I was constantly itchy. I switched to a cold rinse after my shower and I've never felt better. It also built up my tolerance for pain a lil too.

Samuel Walls That is exactly why I take warm showers. Idk how you shower but if it's taking away your oils, that's fucking scorching hot.
@SamuelWallsJames7 жыл бұрын
Kriss Nulgath yeah dude, that was actually part of the problem, I would have really hot showers most of the time so I just decided to completely flip it and only have freezing cold showers, that way I'd never even be able to tempted to turn up the heat. It's just what works for me :)

It doesnt make you stronger. I have taken cold showers for the past 2 years so basically my information is almost authority. It makes your skin and hair better and less dry. You feel better and are often not cold when everyone else is in a room. It can fix inflammation and help lessen emotional problems. I would recommend it, it gets me hyped up and woken up for the day in the morning. Will it increase testosterone? I wouldn't know, but muscle gains sure aren't going to be affected by cold showers if at all. If you get muscle gains, it's from you working out.

@@Bigbiceps301 I know a couple of cold shower lovers (my dad included who is ex-military and an ex-wrestler) and they literally get slightly sick only once a couple of years. I personally take my long hot shower after the gym so I can sleep better and prefer a 2 min cold shower in the morning so I can feel fresh and get my hair and beard ready. It also is amazing vs eczema and acne prone skin like mine and I haven't got sick for a long ass period now.

As Jeff Cavaliere would say: less pain = more gain. soreness is not equivalent to pain. As much as a cold shower may not give too much or diminish gains process a shower is only *small* part of the equation to gains. Eating and sleeping, with an appropriate, smart, and intense workout, are more important. if you have pain, guess what? you can't make gains because you be stuck resting all the time or worse, with a doctor.

I start the shower off hot and end it as cold as I can get it. It allows me to feel better mentally and physically and tightens my muscles up. I do it as well because it is very humid in PA where I am located and helps me not to sweat as much immediately going outside. I haven’t had any problems with gains tho but I do get good sleep and nutrition. I believe more studies should be performed but I think there are more positives then negative to gain from cold showers. Just my opinion. Good video!

cold showers in the morning are the best time for a cold shower! for example: when you wanna go for a run you just take a cold shower BEFORE(yes, it sounds a bit unlogical taking a shower before a workout), especially when its high temperatures outside, so you will have more awareness and focus and your body temperature is also more stable, making the run easier and more enjoyable. i was thinking about taking cold showers in the evening, especially after a workout to reduce muscle soreness and increase recovery, but i quickly found that taking a cold shower right when you wake up is the best way to tackle the day(and you can always take a second shower if you're really sweaty and stuff, it doesn't have to be a cold one)

The studies did'nt say that cold water would affect muscle size. They say that muscles get thicker after an exercise because of inflammation and blood flow. Cold water reduce this kind of thickness faster cause cold water helps reduce inflammation faster. And inflammation is a breakdown of muscle fibers, if you don't recover from inflammation before your next workout then you will get muscle atrophy, which means you will get weaker and smaller, because you are continually breaking your muscles and not giving them chance to rebuild/recover. So in conclusion studies say cold water, 10-15 degree Celsius, for 10-20 minutes every day is absolutely good for your training. Just enjoy it...

If you ask me, cold showers in the morning and hot showers after workouts. Cold showers really help you in many ways, from good skin to no depression, but there is one really important for working out and that is pain tolerance. I take warm showers but at the end of my shower, I turn the knob to the colder setting. So, I do take cold showers-I just don’t go hardcore. All that maters is that the last contact your skin has is cold water, not hot. It doesn’t even have to be for more than 30 seconds. I do this for the effects on my skin, not for muscle growth gains. There is more evidence that cold water is good for your skin; as this video showed, there is no conclusive evidence that cold showers positively affect muscle growth. Does anyone else do this?

Ending with cold shower works the best the day after training in my experience, 5 to 10 minutes after the cold shower there will be a DOMS relieving warm feel and more energy when warming up naturally. Ending with the cold shower also helps a lot with longer beards or hair and the mirror does not fog up. After training I do like the benefits from warm water more to relax the muscle.

In the summer I take quick cold showers, would take longer ones but once it hits 5 minutes the water slowly starts turning warm cause of how hot it is outside. In the winter I don't take hot showers cause hot showers can cause hair loss, and I do love my long hair, and I don't take cold showers either cause I get really bad allergies and if my boss even hears me with little sniffles, she will sent me home. So I take room temperature showers, not too hot nor too cold and it's perfect for me

As of someone whos been lifting for 6 months i do recommend Showers if you want a Consistent workout even without the Inflammation the Burn you get after a Workout is enough to spurt some growth but even so if you did a Good workout most of the time even when you shower you'll still feel the Inflammation the only reason i recommend and many recommend Cold showers is that it lessens Fatique and soreness meaning less pain and more Consistency of your Workout plus dont shower immidiately give atleast 1 to 30 minutes of you doing nothing but cool down cause if you shock yourself you might actually decrease your Gains from experience

Taking a cold shower and then starting to run increases the benefits you gain from running, and you also perform better. But it feels a bit controversial to take a shower "before" a run, because you usually take shower after a workout and then shower off all the sweat. cold showers are great, especially if you're a busy person and you can only work out in the evening(and taking a hot shower after that wont realy matter as much) But now there's a pandemic going on and i want to get a workout in as fast as possible. I dont know if its good for your body to go in this order in the morning: Cold shower -> Going for a run -> Hot shower because you simply cannot go without a shower after sweating your ass off, its disgusting

SunsBTW you don’t use full stops or commas in your sentence... And come on dude, cold showers seriously build you cold temperature endurance. I get your logic if you want to build muscle just for looks, but I want to build an athletic body rather than a buff looking body. I’m fine with sacrificing a bit of my muscle gains to gain a lot in cold endurance. And I can speak from experience that it works. I’ve been only using cold water in showers for two months now and my body has adapted a lot. When I started I couldn’t stand still, my heart rate would jump, I would breathe very fast and deeply. And now, when I take a cold shower I can remain completely calm and after about 30 sec the water doesn’t even seem cold whatsoever! I just went on a week long backpacking trip and unlike all of the other people, I never felt the need to wear a jacket or a hoodie and I was the only one that could swim for long amounts of time in the cold sea while feeling comfortable and enjoying it. I absolutely love this new ability of mine and I want to keep improving it even more. What do you think of all of this?

@Gravey yup. I don't count my cold showers but at this point, they have definitely become a habit and I no longer need to force myself to take them! I only take hot showers if I'm very cold or tired (very rarely) and at this point, hot showers feel very "sluggish" and I usually finish them off with a cold shower at the end to refresh. The benefits are great and it's totally worth it even considering the possible loss of gains. Keep going strong!

Something I’m realizing about KZbin videos whether it’s nofap, intermitting fasting , cold showers,fasting etc there’s always another reason why it’s not good which is making all these KZbin videos kinda boring because now it’s like you more in tuned with watching these videos than actually putting in the work and you actually get no where because everything looks like a contradiction, so my advice is stick to what works and stop watching these videos when you fail, just keep mentally strong and know that things will work out🙌

Here's the difference you're going to feel good after getting a cold shower which helps circulate your blood and oxygen around your body faster which makes it more alkaline. therefor after that you work out which then helps you workout longer (checkout the wim hof method then workout I find this useful). After workout it's your choice if you don't want muscle swelling for rest of the day but not gain any muscle or take the swell with you.

I did it every morning for a while and loved the effects of it. However, one day after a cold shower, I collapsed on the floor screaming out the pain I had in my ribs. I could barely breath that day. Turned out I tore a muscle in between my ribs. It's been 3 weeks since it happened, and some movements still hurt my ribs. Don't know if I should take cold showers anytime soon. It really bummed me out, because I finally got used to the goddamned cold water..

@fxbiani2 жыл бұрын
yeah don’t think showers have the ability to rip your body apart… Don’t know the exact science of it because my knowledge is limited to some random youtube video I watched, but supposedly your body has some sort of response to cold water that induces a sort of panic that makes you feel the need to suck in more (sort of “gasping” for oxygen, if you’ve taken a cold shower you know what I mean), so my only explanation if there was a connection to the water would be that your body freaked out and injured itself. However, I find it hard to believe that your body’s innate response to the cold could spontaneously cause an injury that severe unless there was some underlying condition that made that spot weak enough (like overtraining or previous injury)

Will taking ice cold showers affect gains in strength after a workout or just gains in muscle, because I strictly follow calisthenics workouts and focus more on actual muscle stength over muscle mass
@HOODCHRYMER3 жыл бұрын
Everybody’s body is different. However with mine experience, ice cold showers helped me with my decrease in body fat and my mind and body is just much more alive. I also do strictly calisthenics and burpees with zero weights. I’d rather workout with my own body weight and be lean, athletic and overall healthy then lift weights and feel like shit. It’s not about how much you lift or how good you look it’s about how healthy you are. Back when I went to a gym I knew guys that were legit monsters, that couldn’t do 100 solid burpees without gassing out after the first 20. I Never stepped foot in a gym again and I have my own room to do my calisthenics workouts. I started doing ice old showers about 3 years ago and loved it ever since. It’s all about discipline and the mind. Only cold showers! - Jocko Willink.

Here’s the main reason why everyone should take cold showers, firstly taking a cold showers cools your body down a little and makes you more alert. Now to more important reasons, if you take hot showers it will almost completely reduce the effects of soaps have. As it will just move around the germs dead skin on your body rather than remove it, cold shower will remove it. Also if you have sensitive skin, then you need cold showers as it will toughen your skin and you won’t break out so easily. Plus it’s best for controlling oil on your body. For men who are balding, taking cold showers as will reduce the effects of male balding.
