I did this as a soldier in the army in the beginning it was really uncomfortable/painful but I knew straight from the start that it was healthy. after just a few weeks I could take freezing cold showers in the dead of winter and at full pressure with almost no discomfort after the first minute. Everything he said in this video I saw in research studies and experienced first-hand. An additional benefit I didn't see listed here is self-discipline and will-power. Both of which do not come naturally and you must work on consistently in order to build them up and strengthen. Having the ability to excersize both to the extreme will make you that successful in pretty much anything you set your mind to.

Great information. At 75 I started cold showers a few months ago. My complexion has transformed, I get complements all the time. People think I am in my 50’s. No need for antidepressants. Sharp and able to focus better. BTW, I have lost 15 lbs. Doing 40/50 pushups every other day. This Technique has been life changing for me. Please do not forget to recommend this for the women. Hope to never stop doing. Lowest temp 38. Longest time 5 min at 40. The Hoh river runs by my place. It is about 45 degrees. I love to sit in that glacier water. Try it you will like it.

Cold showers are truly amazing, gives such a pure, raw energy that nothing else does and builds your mental toughness at the same time. It took me couple of weeks to get to the coldest shower, at first luke warm seemed too cold and I thought that I'd never be able to turn that hot water knob completely off. One day I just imagined I'm under a big cold waterfall and went full cold while controlling my breath. Since then It's easier and easier, can now stand under cold shower for 5 minutes no problem and it's even more enjoyable than a hot one for sure!

I then decided to ignore how cold I was and kept showering. It was really hard because I wasn't used to cold showers. Honestly It helped me feel energized and it made me feel great. I started Wim Hoff's course in 2016, cold showers are the norm for me now. The most important things I took away from it were that the shock of the initial cold never goes away, but the speed at which you get used to it becomes shorter and shorter. And two, if you are feeling ill, give your body a break and stay out of the cold until you are feeling better. Cold exposure is a stressor and your immune system is expending resources trying to heal you. Put the cold on hold, just for a couple weeks.

@skysurfer
@skysurfer 2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewmurdoch6932 I think everybody sucks at it :) You'll probably have areas of your body that are more sensitive than others. For me it's my upper back and shoulders, but my hands and forearms are not as much. So I expose my hands and forearms first, then my face, feet, and hair. My torso/back and legs are last, and interestingly because the other parts have sensitized, it makes it a little easier. When you are first starting, move in and out of the water stream. No need to torture yourself. If you are only getting wet for five seconds, then back out and wait a few seconds before getting back in, you're on track, but try to get your whole body wet at some point even if it's for short durations. If you want a measurable challenge after getting wet, back out of the water stream and soap up your whole body/shampoo, and then rinse using the cold water. You'll have to hit your body parts multiple times to get the soap off and shampoo out of your hair, and it will force you to keep at it. Last tip is to either slow your breath or hold your breath when you get into the cold, and when you let your breath out, "force" it out like you are blowing a toy sailboat. Just try to control the reflex of gasping, and you'll send a message to your brain that this is not a life or death situation (even though it kind of feels like that at first).

When i was in the french army for 3 years, cold shower was the ritual, even we most of time had a limit of 120 seconds to fully shower on mission, in some countries we had like 6 Liters of water per day like in Afghanistan where the temperatures are burning hot, drinking or showering with those 6 Liters you had to make a choice, from Autumn to Summer, i've kept it and i might get a cold or a flu like once every 3 years even i smoke a package a day now, but it's one of the best routines and you quickly get used to it, after a month or so you can't imagine switching to hot shower or bath anymore so you can go for it :-)

i learned that focusing on your breathing while under stressful situations really helps when i firstly started showering with cold water (forced because they cut warm/cold water a lot here fucking incompetent government) and also because my ass burned more than once whenever i tried to literally just have water fall on it so i had to hold my breath and that REAAALLY helped me endure the pain/cold temp so as the video guy said def do that, it can probably help you go into 10 celsius cold water or probably less for the first time for a good amount of time this also means focusing on your breathing also really helps in most stressful situations too (probably not for ones where you really need to focus on them tho)

I was fit and working out one day and weeks later can’t do anything. I am currently unemployed and in combination with a broken relationship and the world crisis concerning high (gas) prices I developed symptoms of depression. Nevertheless, I started cold showering a few months ago, doing it on a daily basis. In the beginning it is awful, but once you get used to it, it is a blessing in the morning. I dare to say it is almost the same feeling as an orgasm. When I feel down and depressed I take an cold shower and feel immediately focused. One tip is to get used to the cold showering doing your feet and leg first, then do the torso with deep breathing and from there do your face and hair. I also turned my heating down to 15 degrees centigrade and haven't suffered from a cold ever since. In the beginning it is a nightmare, but after a few weeks it enriches your life.

I am taking cold showers since beginning of january. I must say that I hated it for the first week and I even got a headache after every shower. I was about to stop my experiment when suddenly in the second week I started to feel a change. My body adapted and my recovery after sports went so much quicker. I drank a lot of coffee before and didn't have the need anymore because I was already so sharp and awake after the showers. In the cold winter months I was walking outside with just a shirt or light pullover when everyone else was wearing heavy coats. Whenever I am in places where they don't have cold water e.g. certain gyms I feel really weird after. I must say after almost 7 months in it was the best thing I did in a long time. My goal is to never stop taking cold showers :) Give it a try, you won't be disappointed! ps: I shower between 4-6 minutes around the coldest setting

I also got dumbbells, a sit-up bench, a heavybag, jumprope and a elliptical.I rarely use the elliptical though because I get my cardio mainly through moderate jogging and walking. I have a hip injury from years ago, so I gotta go easy with my cardio. Now as far as advice for starters, I would say that sleep and nutrition should be your foundation because if you’re not focused and you’re not getting the proper fuel in your body, your workouts won’t have an impact. Now as far as actual training, I would say start doing research on HIIT and Circuit Training because IMO they are the best exercise systems that combines anaerobic and aerobic exercises. When you’re done and all sweaty, sore and tired, I take a COLD shower to quickly rinse off. We have an annual Christmas morning traditional sea swim here in Dublin / Ireland .. where hundreds of people plunge into the freezing cold water for just a few minutes ...I did it 10 years ago and I knew something amazing happened ..as in how it made me feel ...ever since then I take a 5 min cold shower every day all year round.. ( obviously I dont live near the sea !! ) ..in an attempt to replicate the experience ..I agree totally with everything this guy is saying plus it increases your own self disipline and will boost your own will power to a higher degree ... Its not an easy thing to get into but when you do you will most definetely feel the better for it !!

I do the same thing, I do sauna and then when I shower I do hot and then cold for however long. Feels great and i definitely believe it significantly improves my immune system and fat burning. Been doing this consistently with working out and kind of eating ok for about 8 months. As of yesterday I’m down to 204 from about 230+ and feeling healthy and stronger than I’ve felt in a while. I just turned 30 so I’m priming💯🙏🏾💪🏾

one caveat im surprised wasn't mentioned is that you do want to avoid cold modalities immediately following lifting as it seems to blunt the adaptive response. i'm not sure a cold shower would be cold enough to qualify, depending on where you live i guess, but would want to do your ice bath before lifting, at least 4 hours after, or the next day to be on the safe side.

Just started this myself. My current strategy is to let myself have a warm shower in the beginning, just long enough to do any actual washing. Then when I'm done, that's when I switch it to as cold as I can tolerate for a full minute before I get out. Eventually I will start off at cooler temperatures and take colder showers for longer periods (No more than 10 minutes I think). But right now my tolerance for cold isn't very good, so it's slow and easy for me.

I've taken cold showers and I feel so refreshed and calm after. It is hard at first but worth it.

I can also add, if you have panic attack issues, taking a cold shower will usually snap you right out of one, and lower your anxiety if your under it long enough.
