Here's a tip to check how much ram you could actually benefit from. Open the task manager during your most intensive workload / most demanding part of the day with as much programs opened as you would realistically use. Now switch to the performance tab if it already isn't, click on the Memory section and check the "Committed Ram". This is the required memory for your current workload. If the usage is higher than the total capacity of your installed rams, you could benefit from a ram upgrade. Currently your PC is making use of a virtual memory to make up for the lack of the additional ram capacity required. The usage of virtual memory can also cause unwanted read and write for your storage. If that's an SSD, then it's slowly contributing to the TBW which means it's placing unnecessary wear on the SSD that can be avoided by having extra ram.

The price diffrence between 16GB vs 32GB of non-RGB ram is only like $30 US dollars depending on the brand name. Might as well get 32GB of RAM and be done. Least that way you won't have to worry about having enough RAM.

ideally, 16gb ram is enough. but you can just cut the video into pieces and working on it one by one and adding it up later. save you alot of money especially you are just a hobby or making documentaries

I have an asus tuff gaming laptop 8 GB of ram, AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.30 GHz, and 237 GB of storage. I like to play big open world games DayZ, Rust, Escape from Tarkov, but when I try to go a little higher in resolution I get an insane FPS drop and almost unable to play. Would upgrading to 16 GB of ram help that situation, or is my wifi trash. Or does it have to do something with storage ? Thank you for your time and help!

I would say more likely you are restricted by your Radeon Vega graphics, unfortunately. However, you can try lowering your game presets a little at higher resolutions to see if that helps some or go to your task manager while playing to see if you are using most of your memory and if so, an upgrade wouldn't hurt.

It might be and you could probably get cheaper 16gb DDR3 memory. You can know for sure if you just check your ram usage on your task manager and seeing around how much memory you are capping at with music running while gaming.

Yes and no, that would be true if it was single channel ram of 16 gb; however, in this case they are switching from single channel to dual which would mean dual would spread the amount performance load which would significantly decrease load, the reason why theirs is so high is because they only have one channel ( 1 8gb stick of ram) fyi it also depends the mhz or speed in the ram which can play a role to how quick workload is processed

I would say a minimum 4GB at this point, assuming for office type usage on Win10. An SSD would significantly help boot and load time of all your software and would also be worth it. I would also try a fresh install of Windows. Good luck!

Probably buy a new laptop. In this case upgrade both but, there are barely any 2 gb of ram laptops out there so I’m going to guess that your laptop is old. That means it will only run up to 4 gb of ram maximum if you upgrade but I’m not sure your dell laptop will be able to handle it. Check if it can then if it can upgrade to a 4 gb of ram. Anything above 4 gb of ram will probably be too much for your laptop to handle. If it can’t upgrade then just buy a new laptop. You can get 4 gb of ram laptops for under 200$. 8 gb of ram for under 400$. The laptop prices aren’t even bad ( for laptop prices). Good luck tho

Depends on what you do with it. 16gb is standard nowadays. 8gb is fine for low end use. 32gb for heavy applications

noooooo especially on low end because the weak gpu has barely anything to help it with vram and windows takes up 3.5 gbs ram and gaming with 8gb ram takes up 4gb ram and on 16gb it takes up 9gb to 10gb so your left with 0.5 gb extra ram and on weak gpu that's not enough so upgrade to 16gb ram the preformce will go up a lot even if you have ssd ssd ram is ultra slow ram

this is a little outdated back then 8gb ram was ok now you should upgrade to 12gb or 16gb or 24gb or 32gb every thing over is overkill unless you want too see :( every time you play a modern game or very low fps and all you need too upgrade is another stick of ram preferably the same stick if it's a different brand it's ok if it's the same speed like 2666mhz you put in your computer model online and find out and a few screw drivers

@@nzed2138 it’s because the computer does multiple things at once unlike a console so it needs to borrow some ram to avoid preformce drop at random times and not have people raging and it try’s to use the least ram possible so you’ll get fast preformce so if you upgrade to 16gb ram you’ll really only have 14.6gb ram but it still meets recommended requirements

You can upgrade to a 32 by buying an extra 16 gb of ram from Amazon or something for like 70-100$ but check if your pc can handle it. If your pc can handle it then go for it. To answer your question⬇️ from my ideals anything over 16 gb of ram is unnecessary. With 16gb of ram you can run any game you want with no problems. If your going to be a streamer then going with 32 gb of ram would be a have to. If you are just a regular person that plays games just stuck with a 16 gb of ram or 8 gb of ram.

Yes a 16 gb of ram is good. It’s actually more than enough and straight up over kill. You can run high resolution games with no problems at all. Gb of ram rankings⬇️ read or not doesn’t matter. 4gb of ram is exceptional for small games like Roblox but you will experience a lot of lag. 8gb of ram is good you can run small games without any problems pretty much every game on roblox with 0 problems. For big games like pub g, fortnite, war zone, and gta5. you will need to lower everything to the lowest resolution settings to run the big game without too much lag. 12 gb of ram can run low resolution on big games with ease and standard resolution with ease too but high resolution will cause lag. 16 gb of ram can run high resolution on pretty much every game out right now with no lag or difficulty. Of course as technology and games advance the gb of ram requirements will be set to higher standards. Upgrades⬇️ read or not again doesn’t matter Anything after 16 gb of ram will just be straight up unnecessary. Most pcs especially pcs that come with 16gb of ram comes with an extra slot for gb of ram. so you can buy another 16gb of ram and place it into that extra slot which will make your pc go even faster. (Make sure to check the supported gb to see if ur pc can handle it). So yeah you can add a 4 gb of ram 8 gb of ram or even 16gb of ram I recommend a 8 gb of ram for your extra slot which will add up to 24 gb of ram might be 20 due to running built in softwares on windows. But like I said anything above 16 gb of ram is completely unnecessary. It’s your money so do as you please.
