Great video, as always. Thanks for taking the time to put this together for us. I’m not a bodybuilder or a coach, just a guy who loves to train and eat, but your lesson at the end still applies to me. If a career or a goal is important, prioritize it, and learn that it’s okay to say no to things. It’s okay to say no to going out or staying late or taking a trip. It’s okay to put yourself and your goals and priorities first. Thanks, man. LFG.

Great video! Added those Decline Hammer Close Grip presses a few weeks back after seeing you do them. Really solid movement versus the traditional close grip I had been doing!

Hey John love your videos, I have a question for you, how important is having a mind muscle connection a factor in building muscle? And do you still use muscle soreness in determining progress? Thanks
@johnjewett79709 ай бұрын
I can’t put a gauge of how important it would be. However, I would say it should always be a focus. One that does not take away from progressively increasing load and reps overtime. Also, as load and effort increases with an exercise that is chosen correctly to target that muscle likely mind muscle focus will be of lesser importance as a muscle will have no choice but to do the work. Also, some exercises can have an increased difficulty of feeling the muscle during contractions, for example quads in a squat vs quads in a leg extension. You can feel more in a leg ext but arguably the squat is higher stimulus. I would not use muscle soreness as a main determinate a progress. You main determinate should be based on increasing load and reps overtime across all lifts.

Thanks for the reply John I really appreciate it, another question for you If you had a client that only had 3 day to train per week wot would your advice be to them on deciding how to set up those 3 days if they wanted to bring up back and legs specifically, any advice would be appreciated.

John ive seen several post on ig saying the incline hammer is trash bc of a bad resistance profile, whats your take on this? Thanks. Can you do your Chest push day and lat focus so we can see how the full off-season training.
@johnjewett797010 ай бұрын
lol probably someone very small saying this. I does load more at the top end, so if the goal is to load more lengthen, than yes it would not be as good for that. To say it’s trash is a huge overstatement. What is more important is getting yourself in the machine where you can move through a natural range of motion. I have a prime incline press that I can load lengthen but for my own mechanics is terrible on my shoulder.

Wait, Will you rally stop competing after Italy? Why?
@johnjewett797010 ай бұрын
I just meant I want to do an international show before I finish competing in general, not that this is my last show I will ever do

Hey John, do you do submaximal sets like an RIR progression or are all of your sets to muscular failure?
@johnjewett797010 ай бұрын
In my own training I don’t program RIR but its high effort and intuitive at this point what take closer to failure or not. I go as far as I can with keeping accurate form.
