I also cheesed Lady Butterfly on my first playthrough. (dodge, attack once, repeat) Going back in NG+ with a better understanding of the combat system and beating her first try w/o cheese is super satisfying. Hang in there and it'll be worth it.

I think one of the most unique things for me in Sekiro is the samurai chimps or what I like to call 'chimps with hats and gatz' in that one valley. Who ever decided to arm them up and train them to fight was mental. But awesome.

I did the exact same cheese on lady butterfly, cheesed the seven spears too, almost thought of returning it because I was struggling so much with the combat. But now I'm maybe 2/3rds in and I've started to really 'get' the combat and I'm loving it, I'm confident now I wouldn't need to use the cheese tactics again, though I'm glad I did as they stopped me from rage quiting. Keep at it Luke you'll be glad you gave in to the Stockholm syndrome

The posture damage of enemies goes down faster the more vitality damage you inflict, especially when vitality is below 50%. This also holds true for Sekiro; you need to keep your vitality up so that your posture damage goes down quickly. Also, you need to keep your guard up! Holding the guard button lowers posture damage more quickly than not doing so.

As far as Sekiro goes, I too was having a LOT of trouble with it, but after a particular point, it finally just clicked, and I understood how it worked. I'm not sure I can explain it, but the rhythm of the enemies can be understood on a kind of- this is going to sound really stupid, but a kind of primal, subconscious level. Once I got it, so to speak, all of a sudden it was much, much easier. Still ruthless, but if you are having trouble with it, rest assured that there is a natural kind of rhythm that once you understand, it gets much easier.

I find that when I get stuck on a boss in Sekiro exploring other areas and making progress there helps. There is definitely still that feeling that some bosses are unbeatable until you actually do it though. Also if you press Y or Triangle in the quick travel menu you can actually see a map, but I've ended up getting a reasonable sense of where things because I wonder around trying to find things I've missed instead of being killed over and over by a boss.

Believe it or not but the hardest achievement in Sekiro is getting all the skill points, it was the last one I needed for 100% and it required 3 hours of grinding.
