My favourite thing about this is the fact that it looks like all the animal monsters stay as animal monsters, rather than turning into what basically looks like a human in a costume. One of my biggest pet peeves about the newest games is how there seems to be an increase in the number of Pokemon that to that (like how literally none of the starters this gen could manage to keep all four feet on the ground). If I wanted a small magical human like creature I’d travel with one of them, but I don’t, I chose the magical fire cat because I wanted a pet that could curl up on my bed and let me rub its tummy without it being weird.
