Man, what a concept truly a work of art for editors. This should be a consumer product it looks that great. Absolutely awesome 👏🏻

You could use a feature called "Selection follows playhead", which enables to use the panel without a mouse since it selects stuff based on where you are on the timeline! And you can ask me some stuff that you've been wondering. I've been using Resolve professionally for about eight years now.

@@FlatLanderTech I'm glad I could help! Your setup is awesome and I wish my speed editors (one at work and one at home) came out of the box like this. As it stands, they rarely get used since I'm really fast with the keyboard.

@@FlatLanderTechalso you could emulate Shift+V to select the clip Only thing with both these ways is if you've got multiple tracks over each other it gets a bit messy in terms of what exactly is getting selected

This looks great! I enjoyed your previous video and agree with the limitations of this peripheral, and the lack of third-party API support. The Speed Editor was really designed for a specific way of editing, mostly using the Cut page, but still very usable in other pages. I still find myself using my Streamdeck or mouse or split keyboard, in addition to it. I use a Stream Deck+ (the one with the 4 rotary dials) and that has been great for using it with Resolve and other stuff. By emulating the mouse clicks and movements, I can make the dials do things on the colour page, or do resize, re-position, rotate, etc. actions on a selected clip. So perhaps an updated version could include more rotary dials, as you use this more! Or have it separated from the build. One thing to try is, there's keyboard shortcuts for increasing and decreasing the audio levels on a clip. It's definitely better with a rotary dial, I am able to map that on one of the dials on my Stream Deck+. Another: improve trimming speed and reduce using the mouse by trying out the various functions in the "Trim" dropdown menu. There's a ton of ways to select the closest edit point relative to the playhead, selecting a clip, do an action to the head or tail end of a clip, select all clips, or de-select, etc. There's also a ton of other keyboard shortcuts that move the focus to your bins, inspector window, timeline, etc. @kaarlomedia already mentioned "Selection follows playhead". Keep up with the cool projects!

Great video and excellent choice of music bed. I’m a BMD fan boy, but I’ve never understood why they (nor Apple now I think about it) offer backlighting on control surfaces like the Soeed Efitor. So much of the time, we’re working in subdued lighting or darkness. How hard would it be to offer the choice of dimmable backlit keys. Would your ambition of swapping out physical keys allow that in any way?

You might like mapping "top" and "tail". Top removes all the frames before the playhead back to the last edit, tail removes all of the frames after the playhead to the next edit. It's kind of like add edit and ripple delete in one button press. If you have a fumbled line, add and edit before it starts, scrub to after the read ends, then hit "top".

Might have to make this myself ! 😊 Wondering if it would make sense to add another mini streamdeck mini on the right side?

at 3:00 ish, would keycaps with different heights help?
@FlatLanderTech
@FlatLanderTech 3 ай бұрын
aa yes ! that would be really awesome to have! and preferably even each button a different height, but metal aswel so its cold to the touch and perhaps even some custom patterns at the top, like those custom exit buttons you often see, so each switch has a different feel to it ;)

if you use companion to send youre keystrokes with vicreo then you can turn the buttons to portrait mode instead of being forced to landscape with the Stream Deck app.

A fantastic project for a super stream dock, it should take some time for you to get used to it. Seems those lcd keys didn’t have good feedback.

Oh man, i love your work! if i could rate your videos it would be 50% voice and 50% content, i watch content and stay for the voice :) btw i love the music you choose for your videos. but on the other hand i was thinking, wouldn't it be good to integrate streamdeck plust and use 4 rotating buttons for like color grading or something. just wondering :) BTW LOVE IT and keep it going :) !!!

Sadly i think the davinci resolve speed editor is completely locked unless davinci resolve is open, but i recommend looking into Loupdeck, the edit panel for that one is compatible with many different apps. :)
