You are amazing my friend. Over 2 years ago a bunch of men scammed my grandmother, having her go to the local cvs and and dollar general to buy gift cards. In total she spent $682, that day I was called by the cashier because she was on the phone and her car wouldn’t start as I was walking up I saw her in tears because they were screaming, and threatening her . I am still heartbroken about it. She was 68 then and anytime a scammer calls her I take the phone and go off. But this definitely made my day honestly bas me tearing up you’re an outstanding kid.

I worked so hard for months and was able to save $550 to buy a cell phone for my mom . I got scamed so bad that it broke my heart. I wanted to gift her for her birthday but all my saving were gone . Exactly... I take care of seniors for a living and today I walked in to find my 70 year old on the phone, CC in hand and her laptop being controlled... I was sick! She doesn’t have any family and I am the only one she sees twice a week so their are many lonely gaps in between I am sure. That generation have used land lines their whole lives and their gateway to visiting. Now we have to warn them that 90% of callers cannot be trusted and it’s sad and hard for them to grasp. We cancelled her CC and called the local authorities and we had yet another chat about how these calls are designed to scare them into releasing money. I could cry just typing this. We have to do everything to protect our vulnerable and lonely. 😥

Most humans would be inclined to do evil things when raised without proper education altogether and exposed to the wrong ethics all their lives (notice how poverty really has no role in this: my grandpas were poor and never hurt anyone). So I’m not saying their acts are forgivable but I do think they wouldn’t have chosen to be scammers if raised with proper education and good principles. I’m not justifying them but I guarantee the environment they live in plays a big role in making them choose the wrong path.

This is particular to some cities and communities in India like kolkata where parents don't care what their children are and instead help there children in such activities. You need connection in police to do all this without getting arrested, parents provide that.
