I've seen people react to this video and pause it half a dozen times, yet we get slated by some fool (who won't be posting on here again) because we paused it once, while I explained to people why it took me 62 years to discover this song.

Ignore these type of negative people guys! - You did WAY better than most established reactors, in terms of the unwritten listening 'rules' that people seem so hung up on.... Awesome that you tried PF again recently, after dismissing them originally - I did EXACTLY the same, and one of my biggest regrets in life is that, as such, I never went to this amazing concert in 1994... 😥 ...AND I also *LOVE* the fact that you didn't pause that glorious solo - a lot of reactors DO... ...THAT is the only unanimous 'rule' that triggers everyone, and you respected it!... ...some people are never happy... ...Heck, some people talk and joke throughout it so much, that they can't possibly even be hearing it properly - now, *that's* annoying - so please don't be put off by the one person with nothing better to do... 👍 Also! - don't be worried about being disappointed after this high! - you are NOT going to be disappointed with most tracks from the PULSE concert, so here you go - my personal favourites, especially for DG's guitar solos, should I think, DEFINITELY be experienced:- 1) "Sorrow" from Pulse is fantastic! (I thought that nothing could come CLOSE to this live version of Comfortably Numb, but WOW, this does - I love DG's smooth singing, and the lyrics in this, too) - DG's solo about halfway in, is of course amazing, and the sheer power of some of the low bass, and some powerful guitar note bending, are really heart-thumping.... 2) "Run Like Hell" is a more strange (as in, impressively strange guitar sounds at the start) one to try, even if you're not keen on some examples of PF craziness, but stick with it! - You can tell that they're having a blast on stage, but oh MAN, the sheer spectacle when it gets going, and a little hint - there's a reason that they ended the show with this one! - I think Lilly will LOVE the spectacle, down to the last second... 😉 (and no, it's NOTHING like Money or ABITW, so give it a try!)... 3) "High Hopes" (again, Pulse version is great!) is another more mellow track, that evokes some beautiful nostalgia, and some beautiful Spanish (I think) acoustic and steel/slide guitar work from DG... Here's hoping you enjoy any of these, and best of luck! - Subscribed, commented and liked, guys!

I'm somebody who WATCHES a lot of reaction video's, never in a million years did I think I would actually make any. But you know how it is, my granddaughter saw me watching other people react and said "I want to do that"

Also your point about people who talk all over the video's is something I completely understand because it can drive me mad too. I also sometimes watch people react to songs and I just know that they have no interest in the song whatsoever, they're not really listening while they are reacting, and they certainly won't ever play the song again. They are just doing it for views and the possible income those views might bring them. At least Lilly who's just 8, listens to the songs and learns them. you were 60 before you heard this? Money is probably their worst song. You need to get the Dark side of the Moon and Wish you were Here albums....10/10 masterpieces. The Wall is 11/10 but its not for the amateur fan. its sad, depressing but absolutely a masterpiece. Time, Wish you were here, Shine on you cray diamond, Brain Damage, Not now John, Fletcher memorial, Another brick in the wall part 3, As the worm turns, Welcome to the machine, Pigs on the wing, The division bell......give them a listen. Thanks so much for your kind comments, and yes I like to think that Lilly (and her sister Katie) will be able to look back on these videos long after I'm gone. I would love to be able to do that with my grandparents, but like many people, the only reminders I have of them are a few photo's. It's the reason I keep making these video's. I don't have the words for how much I love Pink Floyd. I love seeing people, especially the younger generations, looking up these classic rock groups/songs. Today's music is really insipid and I hope so many people listening to this on reaction channels and the like will make people crave good music again, and that people out there will start making it.

I promise you,,,you won't be disappointed. I was at that gig and I had tears running down my face for most of the concert. Another brick in the wall is part of a concept album called "the wall". It's a very deep thinking album, as is all Floyd's music. There's always a storyline to everything they do. When you take into consideration that they formed in 1965 and had one of biggest selling albums ever made (dark side of the moon) and they're still working and would still be sold out within 15 minutes of the tickets going on sale you have to ask yourself why. If music doesn't touch your soul it ain't music. ✌️❤️🇬🇧

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.

I just ran across this video as I was scrolling through KZbin, and my curiosity got the best of me as to whether an 8 year old would like Pink Floyd. Actually, from watching a couple other reactions with children in them, I was curious as to whether she would listen the whole way through it before losing interest. I was surprised and happy to see that she looked interested, and kept focused on the video and the music. Pink Floyd really didn't get my attention when I was younger, but now that I'm old(er), they are one of my favorite groups, and I have 8 of their albums. Now days I listen to mostly one young lady that is up and coming, even though she has been singing for 10 years. (she's 17 now) She entered Norway's Got Talent at 7 years old, and won it all just after turning 8. She was signed by Republic Records at 14, and her first album is set to be released later this year. In the meantime, you and Lilly should listen to an arrangement that she did herself when she was 9 years old. It is her version of a 1956 song originally done by Screamin Jay Hawkins, and it's called "I Put A Spell On You". kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU You may have heard a version done by Bette Midler in the movie Hocus Pocus. She has an amazing story behind her, and her Angels (her name for her fans) will flock to your channel with lots of requests and information if they see you react to her. Its so important for young children to experience music that was created before 2000.I am a 60s child, and I played classical music on an old record player. Vivaldi. Peer Gynt. And loved it. Who would have known that it would have inspired the likes of Jean Michelle Jarre and Tangerine Dream :) It will make young people more appreciative that music didn't just begin at the millennium. That most music isn't original, it is inspired by the past compositions. Most great music has been influenced by classical music for hundreds of years. And I keep saying this, but the instrumental break is soooo important. It allows the musical instruments to speak, and enhance the emotion. You are doing a great Job, Sir, in introducing Lilly to amazing songs. It will enhance her life experience for years to come. There is great music pre 2000. Yes, nothing is new. Many classic, or contemporary songs, where inspired by Bach, Beethoven and Vivaldi. It is good to open your eyes and open your mind. And listen to 'old' music.

One of my nieces is a massive Pink Floyd fan, we were on holiday and comparing the music we had on our phones. It was uncanny finding how similar our tastes in music were. Revisit the PF songs you didn't like, you may find they have more merit when you have no expectation of the journey. Free of distractions this performance of Comfortably Numb is extremely emotional. On a lighter note I am still friends with an ex, our "relationship" ended 45 years ago, but she has mentioned a PF concert we went to back in the day. I don't think she is right, but she has poisoned my mind into wondering if I could ever forget. I hope Lilly enjoys her musical discoveries.

Another Brick in the Wall and Comfortably Numb are from the same concept album The Wall. Without an understanding of the story behind the songs, many are hard to understand the meaning of the lyrics. I would suggest at a minimum reading a synopsis of the story behind the album, or optimally watch the movie The Wall.

Lovely to see the concentration on young Lily’s face. There’s plenty more great videos of Pink Floyd, just as good, give them a go you won’t be disappointed. That show was in 1994, take a look at David Gilmour Live in Pompeii, see what you think of his Comfortably Numb final solo considering he was in his seventies at the time in 2016. My own personal view is that it is even better than the Pulse version.

my third video watching on your site. was not sure if lilly would get to watch groups like pink floyd ,not a bad thing ,but not a lot of kids her age cared for that style (remembering when i was around ten years old) . a huge difference today is watching any performance to see how good the musicians were. we had to listen to album or on radio, so was not in the mind of a kid.the visuals today amazing. april wine "roller" sweet " the six teens" boston " more than a feeling" the clash " london calling"

I've been a Floyd fan since 1968 and have seen the band 3 times in the 70's and once the waters-less Floyd in the 80's. I agree with you that the two classic Floyd numbers you know are boring but there are so many you are missing out on. Dogs & Sheep from the Animals Album, Shine on (especially part 2) and Welcome to the Machine from wish you were here album. My personal Favourite hardly ever mentioned is "Mudmen" from the film and Album "Obscured by clouds. Almost all of the Pulse DVD is worth playing excepting of course the two we both don't like. The most famous tribute band in the world is " The Australian Pink Floyd Show" a multi-million pound organisation that tours every year. They will be playing in your area this autumn. Catch their video's on their website and take Lily to a show. (My son in law, Chris Barnes is the lead singer so I'm biased!

Pink Floyd has legendary albums such as "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" and many other albums and songs as well. There's a great live video from when they were young: "Echoes" live at Pompeii, 1971.

It's a shame you wrote off Pink Floyd earlier based on two songs. The key to appreciating their work is to understand that they wrote their albums to be enjoyed as a whole instead of just single tracks, with some of their albums (like "The Wall") telling a complete story with the songs serving as chapters. My introduction to Pink Floyd was when I was about Lilly's age and my older brother bought "Animals" and told me that I really needed to listen to the coolest thing he'd ever heard. We sat in his room with the lights off and I was transported into a magical world pf music that I never wanted to leave. When he bought a copy of "Dark Side of the Moon" I was hooked on Pink Floyd for life after we listened to that one. 😁

You need to listen to The Wall live in Berlin 1990. Stunning. Every song is a classic. With a collaborative musical entourage from van Morison, Thomas Dolby, and Sinead O'Connor. And Bryan Adams. Incredible. If you enjoyed Comfortably Numb you need to experience the complete Narrative experience. Comfortably Numb is from the album The Wall, and also the Alan Parker Movie. Both are well worth a look, But please, dont show Lilly the film. She is too young. It is too adult for her. Great vid chaps and chapesses. :)

I'm assuming this question isn't for Lilly, so I'll tell you that the type of music I like, is that that I have been showing Lilly for the last 18 months. I like The Bee Gees, Abba, The Seekers, as well as a host of other artists, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Dire Straits etc etc. So we're talking 60's, 70's and 80's, and you can put that down to the fact that I'll be 65 in a couple of months time. I also like a lot of Motown stuff, but I haven't got round to showing Lilly any of that just yet.

Time is brilliant, but IMO it is only the prelude to The Great Gig in The Sky....... Time has the best intro ever along with Shine on You Crazy Diamond...... and takes you from pre birth, to birth / infancy, to work / life on the run to..... the Great Gig in the Sky ( the end ). Most PF lyrics are very deep...... and I believe it is best to read the lyrics first to understand the message..... and then the MUSIC makes more sense. The music always mirrors the lyrics message. I understand your initial reaction to Money and The Wall. Money is from the Dark Side of the Moon album ..... an album written to be listened to as one long song ...... even though both sides are complete within themself. Read about the album first, then listen to it. Listen to side one as one song..... especially Tome into The Great Gig. I’m not sure if your daughter is ready for the Great Gig..... you might even find the lyrics too deep..... about the 5 stages of death. I recommend that you listen to the original CD from the original vinyl...... none of the remixed versions are true to the original. They all change the tone and feel, and the later ones remove important vocals..... especially the last few breathy vocal notes of peace ( death ). Money starts off side 2 and is about greed.......MONEY. Side 2 is about the material things of life and their effects on us...... and how big brother controls us and our thoughts..... until we are not our true selves. The Wall is terrible if you don’t know the meaning etc. Comfortably Numb is from The Wall...... basically about Rogers early life without a father ( lost in WW2 )and how his over protective mother and vicious school teachers caused him to build a mental wall between himself and the world..... very deep. If you know post war education in England, you will understand his hatred..... was very authoritarian and Victorian. Students were treated as sub human..... many slaves were treated better.

Interesting to hear your views of Money and Another Brick. Another Brick... Is from The Wall and needs to be listened to in the context of the whole album/film. The film actually contains references to the lyrics of Money being written by a schoolboy (young Pink), who is then bullied by his teachers. I think you'd need to delve into the life of Roger Waters to get a deeper insight. You might also get a deeper insight from watching The Wall.

@@Lilly8Listens You might be interested (might) in the film version of Comfortably Numb; it's the studio version with the film scenes - it's on KZbin. It will give context to the song lyrics. Roger Waters always conveys a message with his lyrics. It's not really for young children mind you. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is something everyone should hear. The Pulse concert includes a version. On the Turning Away is another worth a listen. You're on the verge of dipping into a rabbit warren of tracks that will change the way you view Pink Floyd.

I do like "Another Brick in the Wall" (Not judging) but I also was never fond of "Money" or their other big song "Us and Them". But let me suggest others that you may like. Time, Momentry Lapse of Reason, One of these Days, Sorrow, Wish you Were Here, and finally Shine on you Crazy Diamind. All of those have excellent guitar riffs. And after listening to those you may just find you would have been a fan all along.

I am aware that when many people tell you to listen to certain songs, there's usually a good reason for it. I'll definitely take a look, but one of the problems we have, is the limited time I get with Lilly on our own. Don't get me wrong, she stays with us 3 nights a week, but so does her mum, her sister Katie, and her 3 year old brother. The chances of us making any videos in peace and quiet are very slim.
