@@shardemichelcollins8071 Hey! Thank you! I only read up to I believe chapter 7 until I was basically falling asleep after reading so much information. I had absolutely ZERO background at all. I did not even take anatomy in high school haha. I just posted a video about my experience with the NASM if you wanna check that out :)
I passed the NASM 7th Ed CPT exam in February 2022 with just the online course (no physical textbook). Watching this video beforehand was fun! Thanks, guys!!! A good review is to print out all those study guides then follow along with all the videos with a highlighter. Then follow along again with all the audio podcasts. I took the practice exam 7 times. I took each end of section test over and over until I got 100% on each one. Whatever I did, worked! Good luck everybody!

I wish I would have found you guys before signing up for NASM. Watching this video in preparation for my exam made me laugh very much. I am a former D1/Overseas professional athlete and spent years training and have been around some great trainers... So I feel I learned a ton in my experiences with them. Because of this when I was going through the book I couldn't help but feel that a lot of it was poorly put together and didn't focus on the things I thought it would. While also highlighting a lot of things I found to be silly. When I got to their program design section I said to myself "I will never do this with any client". Thanks for the video!! Going to dive more into your guys stuff after I am done with the exam, as I begin my journey in the fitness world.

Hi, my gym offered 80% off for the NASM program, which included the entire bundle . I’m doing and reading the online modules which guide you and have you take quizzes towards the end . I believe it’s 6 sections , and within the sections the ch are divided . I’m in no hurry to take this exam and so far most of the information is very simple . What would you recommend? Should I follow those online modules , or read the book? … i know you will probably say to buy your book, which I could . But why? Does it go over strictly on what I would be tested on? Although I do agree that getting straight to the point for the exam is a good idea , it is also good to actually take proper information and knowledge within this field and actually know your stuff not just pass
@ShowUpFitness3 жыл бұрын
How do you know this is proper information? Have you looked up the scientific citations at the end to cross reference what they're saying? I do another KZbin with the citations within the comments section from scientific journals debunking they OPT model (which was developed from a therapist, not a strength coach). There's no need to learn information that you'll never (nor should) apply to a client. Get through nasm ASAP. Then focus on learning how to program and build your confidence via anatomy. If you'd like to sit in on one of our zoom classes, let me know.

Man did you really throw away resumes that had NASM on it? that's ridiculous. For all you know that person could've been an amazing trainer. You gotta quit hating on NASM THAT hard man. I get not liking it, but when you hate it so much that you throw resumes away simple just because it says NASM, then that's an issue.
@ShowUpFitness3 жыл бұрын
When you get into that position, you can make your own decisions. In my experience, NASM trainers are the least open to learn ideas outside of the BS they teach (OPT etc), they know the least when it comes to the foundation of movement and anatomy, and are balancing on bosu balls. I stick to an understanding of movement, not witchcraft. If a trainer has a NASM cert, there's a low likelihood they'll get hired at show up. Less than 20% of our trainers are nasm certified.

Additionally, how is it any different than a gym only accepting NASM? Not Nsca, ACSM, or a college degree? Politics go both ways.

@@ShowUpFitness So you literally don’t get to know the trainer or even interview them? If you see NASM cert then that just means no chance? Don’t you think that’s a little unfair? I’m NASM certified myself and agree with you on some things, but I’ve never been close minded and opposed to learning new things. I’m also not the biggest fan of the OPT model. But still. That’s stereotyping hardcore on NASM certified trainers, don’t you think?

So when I took the test the first 35 questions were all about queing specific exercises that I had never heard of in the book. I only had about 6 questions on under-active and overactive. I honestly thought I had got a 30 on the test but it was a 66. I have never been so confused in my life I was getting 80s on the Nasm practice exam and studied for months. Lol so now I am very confused.

I just passed the exam for the Group fitness Instructor cert, and now I was going to go for the cpt as well (currently stayin in Korea). I have so many questions to ask, but basically you are saying that I don't really need to buy the program (either the premium self-study & guided study) that comes with the "one year nasm edge trainer plus" and etc?

Super appreciate this video. However you sure made me feel dumb for choosing NASM as you continue to emphasis how much it is lacking. This course came to me highly recommended when I decided to get certified. So many out there was and I was at a loss for which one to choose. It wasn't quite as focused on science and the biomechanics as I wanted but once I got started I was already invested in time and money. Of course I'll continue to do my own education and continue to learn.

A lot of friends highly recommend shitty restaurants too 😂. Doesn't mean you're wrong go going with the crowd. As I mentioned in my book, 90% of certified trainers quit within 12-months. Get the piece of paper then move into hands on learning, understanding functional anatomy & programming! Lots of people to help.

IMO nasm is outdatted with the OPT model. So if you can't get a refund, we can get anyone to pass nasm within 30-days. Otherwise we have a money back guarantee that you'll learn more in our SUF-CPT than any certification. I don't know of any association that offers that.
