So still haven’t addressed the 1 thing that would make it as good as some of the best 45degree on the market. Make the foot plate and ankle pads wider. Just make them as wide as the base and still won’t increase storage size. More foot positions is better.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass the info to them.
@jamesgilmore8192Ай бұрын
That's a fair point, especially for athletes. I think your best bet would be to custom notch a 90 angle plate that fits around the current tubing. It would give you much wider foot positions.

Does the price justify the purchase? Who do you think this is for? For someone limited in space and already has a power rack bar, bench and weights, do you still recommend?
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
If you don't already own the machines it replaces, then yeah it's definitely worth the price. But if you already machines that overlap some of the Hyper's functions then you'd have to go based on what you will actually use based on your training.

Thanks for taking the time to make that review. Very helpful question I have is how is the bench shipped? Is it in one box a couple different size boxes? How much does it weigh? What are the measurements of the box? I don’t see this posted anywhere on the freak athlete site cheers, and thank you again.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
Hey Dean, the Hyper Pro ships in one box. All other attachments come in their own box. Go check out my written review and you’ll see pics of the boxes they come in 👉 ShreddedDad.com/freak-athlete-hyper-pro

Thanks. Just when your KZbin reply arrived, I was actually reading your written review. You don’t have the box still do you? Love to know what size those boxes are. Reason I ask is I may pick up at a border store and want to ensure it fits in my vehicle. as a sidenote, I’m always concerned about shipping many times items I have shipped that are gym equipment oriented arrive damaged. Packaging seems to be an afterthought for companies which don’t want to pay the proper money to get proper padding in their packaging to protect their own products.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
@Dean_O. I don’t have the box anymore so I wouldn’t be able to tell you the size but it should fit in a car. Everything but the main frame is disassembled.

If the leg developer had a cable attachment point/ring on the end of the weight pin where the bolt head currently is, you could attach a cable from a high pulley and use it as a seated hamstring, using the other side of the leg extension pads. The cable length would need to be perfect or it would be hard/risky to get in/out of. I think an attachment point on the end of the weight pin would also help functionality with the upper body kit.
@ShreddedDadАй бұрын
That’s a good idea but yeah the cable length is the would be different for everyone depending on their set up
@chrisj76602 ай бұрын
Not sure if you’ve reviewed it but do you think the leg developer “competes” with the isolator? I only use the isolator for leg curls and extensions and it seems this would be more bang for buck
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
I own the isolator and have one rack that I use for everything so for me the Hyper Pro is much easier to use because setting up and putting it away is less of a hassle than the isolator. If you own a dedicated rack just for the isolator then that's not an issue. You do have the ability to move the lever arm back further on the isolator if you like a real big stretch at the bottom of leg extensions but the Hyper Pro feels more like a dedicated leg extension / leg curl machine. Both machines are extremely versatile. It all boils down to what features you actually use.
@honkhonk15552 ай бұрын
When completely condensed, it looks like it would also be great for dumbell bench press, overhead press, and even to kneel on for single arm dumbell curls.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
Yeah you can get creative with it. It’s wider than a weight bench so with dumbbell bench presses you won’t get full range of motion at the bottom so it’ll be like doing floor presses.
@honkhonk15552 ай бұрын
@@ShreddedDad I was thinking I could foam roller on it and lay on it. That’s what I do now on the floor.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын

@jamesgilmore8192Ай бұрын
Great review. Can it do a standing hamstring with the leg developer or does something get in the way? Can it double as a massage bench or is it too short? The end plate/foot assembly looks like it will get in the way and probably needs a redesign for massage function. You could repurpose some of the rollers for leg support, especially if you had the leg developer. It might do calf work, standing calf looks workable with the upper body kit, seated calf might need an extra bench.
@ShreddedDadАй бұрын
You can do standing leg curls but it’s not the most comfortable and the weight plate hits your butt at the top of the curl. The bench is too short for a massage bed unless you use the leg developer to support the legs but there’s no face hole
@jamesgilmore8192Ай бұрын
@@ShreddedDad Thanks for trying those out. Looks like it needs some more design work for those features. All the parts seem to be there in principle, just some extra thought required. Hopefully freak athlete will consider them for the next release. Great piece of kit all the same.

Best review yet, that I have seen on this equipment. A little pissed that after purchasing one in the last 6 months or so they have already released these upgrades as good as they are. By the time I was to order them in Australia the costing almost doubles in comparison to U.S. dollars. So, I don't think I will be getting them on my budget lifestyle. But a great machine non the less if you have limited space as I have and in your laters years or just want an appreciable return on keeping yourself fit and strong without the complications of a full home gym or travelling and paying for a gym membership minus the socialising advantage of course. Of course you have to adjust it and change angles etc' but like anything in life, it's a learning process that becomes simple habit🤔😕🙂

Thanks for the review. In your opinion, could this also replace a traditional adjustable bench? For exercises like incline and flat dumbbell pressing movements?

On leg curls is it possible to increase the angle beyond 20 degrees. Research shows seated curls are more advantageous for hypertrophy when compared to lying leg curls. The greater the angle (to more closely mimic seated leg curls) the better.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
You can increase the angle up to 45 degrees but there may be limitations with how far you can go because of the way the leg developer attaches to the frame of the machine. It's not something I've tried but I can test it out.

@c01cullen2 ай бұрын
Does the leg extension handles work with the older models? I noticed mine is not hollowed out and I wonder how do you add the handles? Also what is the difference when you upgrade an older model (I received mine about a month ago) with the pro kit? Is it just the compatibility of the leg extension handles and the missing knurling on the sit-up handles? Thanks!
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
I had the older model too and the handles next to the hip pads were not hollowed out so the leg developer handles won't work with older versions. Yeah those are the main differences between the older model and the pro.
@c01cullen2 ай бұрын
@@ShreddedDad Thanks for your quick reply! I noticed just 4 differences remain if I upgrade my model with the pro upgrade kit: 1, The hollowed out hip pad for leg extension handles 2, Knurling on the footplate 3, The knob of the removable roller facing away from the footplate for better adjusting as there is more room for your hand 4, More increments in between for adjusting the rear end. The main functionality where I would consider the upgrade kit is the extra stability for GHD sit-ups but I haven’t tried those yet. Regarding #4, between the older models and pro version, what are the main reasons why someone would need the extra increments in between? Fortunately I feel like I am not missing on anything as the 20 and 45 degreee setting seems to suffice. And anything decline you can just adjust the front. The pro is definitely better, but luckily for us current owners, there is no functionality loss I think except for #4. I probably wouldn’t have noticed it, if it wasn’t for the pro. 😂
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
For #4, that's something I didn't notice either when I first got it but the reason for those extra increments in the back, is to lower the height of the GHD set up. Otherwise, there's no difference in function. So for example, someone that's not very tall can lower it to do GHD sit ups at a height that works better for them.
@ShreddedDad2 ай бұрын
I stand corrected. The handles on older models have an end cap that can be taken off. So the leg developer handles should fit into the back extension handles.
