"They'll write your name on the bathroom wall: 'For a happy ever after, give Fiona a call'" is still one of the wildest lyrics to ever be in a song in a kid's movie.
@KrazzeeKane Жыл бұрын
The Shrek movies were luckily still some of the last kid movies that properly understood the whole Don Bluth philosophy, I don't remember the exact quote but it's something to the effect of, "You can show kids very surprisingly violent or adult things in animation, just so long as the good guys *ALWAYS* win at the end." And it's very true. As long as a young child gets the happy ending and proper resolution, they don't mind and may even prefer a more interesting movie like that. Think of all the older cartoon movies we watched that had ridiculously adult things in them, like 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' lol. Roger Rabbit has scenes and situations which are far filthier than anything in this movie, and I wish more movies still understood this and knew it was ok to push boundaries with kids stuff. Kids and adults both enjoy it!

I reccomend seeing 3 and 4 as well, they complete the story. The Puss In Boots movies are fantastic as well.

22:02 - You didn't comment on this in the video, but the music playing during the scene where the other characters are rescuing them from the dungeon, is the theme music to the classic Mission Impossible TV show. I've never watched the Tom Cruise movies, so I don't know if it was used in them and you might have recognized it from there. And once again, I'll say that you need to watch the Halloween special, Scared Shrekless.

Whoever said the later movies are cash grabby. Is insane. I like the 4th movie for a specific reason. The third or 4th will answer a question CineBinge reacts has asked since the first movie. Thus I definitely recommend all the movies in this series. :)

The Fairy Godmother, BTW, was voiced by Jennifer Saunders, whom you might know from Absolutely Fabulous.

Even though Shrek 3 and 4 aren't as revered as the first two, I'd definitely say give them a watch. They both had a theatrical release and did relatively well, so they aren't as cash grabby as what you might stereotypically think of. There's still heartwarming moments and character growth moments. The humor is still pretty good too. I personally think the 4th is better than the 3rd and if I had to rank all of them I'd say Shrek 2,4, 1, 3. Honestly, the cash grabbiest aspect of the Shrek franchise was the holiday special and the Shrek the Musical. Those two are definitely a waste of time in my opinion. As far as the Puss in Boots movies are concerned they essentially bookend the Shrek franchise. The first Puss movie is his origin story so it could be considered a prequel to Shrek 1. The second Puss movie for sure happens after the Shrek movies and could be considered the finale of the series because it wraps up his character arc which didn't happen in the Shrek movies.

Cameron Diaz was dating Justin Timberlake at the time of this movie, so the SIR JUSTIN poster/card on the ceiling above her bunk bed was a reference to that relationship.

Love you two and your reactions ( yes I’m a subscriber). And I think the mutant babies are “Drankies” maybe. Shriek III is Ok, but after that you want to move on to Puss-N-Boots.

The knights planting catnip on Puss is the funniest thing in an animated movie, ever.

Honestly, you could stop here, and go to Puss in Boots 1 and 2. You wont lose too much by going into just 2, but it's not too bad. And may elvate how good 2 is

I think I went to see this in cinema, I just remember watching this with my cousins and being absolutely entertained the whole time, I'm not sure even the studio expected how popular Puss in Boots would be lol

Agreed, Shrek 3 should be skipped, but not Shrek 4, which is good, even though it's not as good as the first 2 Shrek movies.

People saying Myers based the accent after Fat Bastard would be wrong. Fat Bastard made his first appearance in Austin Powers 2 which came out a year after Shrek.. It's really that Myers just does a great Scottish accent. If you want to see it really on display watch "So I married an axe murderer" from 1993.
@drafezard7315 Жыл бұрын
You're incorrect. Austin powers 2 released 1999 meanwhile Shrek released 2001
@arkain1 Жыл бұрын
A simple fact-check on Google would take far less time than needed to type up all that false information. "Austin Power 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me" was released in 1999. Shrek 1 was released in 2001.
@seansteyer8851 Жыл бұрын
I stand corrected. IMDB when you type in austin powers 2 actually brings up the third movie. Regardless of that, my point is that he has been doing the scottish accent in movies clear back to the early 90s. @@arkain1

I cant believe that it's never occurred to me until now and never been addressed, but just what was happening to poor dragon while donky was a stallion!? Cause presumably she was trying to focus on hatching their eggs when all of a sudden she wakes up one morning and isn't a dragon!?

Who knew Simone would fall for Puss? Perhaps she understands now how I feel about her? Great reaction guys, as ever. How could it fail, with Antonio and Jennifer joining Julie and John in a stellar cast of voices? I felt Rupert Everett was under-used but on the whole the script supplied for all. Drankeys?

If you guys really want to see the first instance of the Mike Myers Scottish accent, you should watch "So I Married an Axe Murderer." Pretty sure the voice is based on a relative, but as far as I can remember that was the first time he did it in a movie. Thumbs up either way.

For those who wonder what Dragon turned into when Donkey drank The Happily After Potion, she became a pink pegasus (a bewinged horse). It has been comfirmed in the Directors' Commentary on the DVD and Blu-ray.
