Lord Farquaad is an absolute caricature of Disney CEO Michal Eisner- who took the job Jeffery Katzenberg thought he'd have, so Katzenberg left Disney to start Dreamworks. This movie, this ENTIRE FRANCHISE exists because one dude got turned down for a job.

Chris Farley was supposed to play Shrek and he recorded some dialogue before he died. Unfortunately there was no way they could finish the movie with what they had so dreamworks had to replace him with mike myers

I love Shrek. I was 14 when it came out and it was one of the first movies I ever got on DVD, after I had already gotten it on VHS. I haven't watched it in years, but I may have to now.

Shrek is iconic! Remember how you said with the amount of music they have in this movie, you found it shocking that it wasn't a musical. Well, they eventually gave Shrek a Broadway musical. It's called "Shrek the Musical". You should watch it. It was done so well. The music and dance numbers are so fun. Plus, they bring back some iconic moments to the stage. And I think any superfan of "Shrek" would enjoy the stage musical.

To this day, I still hold the opinion that Fiona looks way better as an ogre! I mean she's pretty as a human but there's just something so lovable seeing her in her ogre form. I love these movies. Yes even the 3rd one. I hear everyone's reasons for why they don't like it. I just don't agree with it personally.

I was a little disappointed that they left her as an ogre; to me it sends the message that people should stick with partners of the same appearance, rather than putting huge Shrek with graceful human Fiona.

This movie is a great movie that I believe I still have the v. HS tape of this movie and the VHS tape for the second movie, but also the second movie is on a DVD. So I have a VHS tape and a DVD of the second movie.

the shrek soundtrack was one of the first CDs i owned as a kid. also i still think hallelujah is one of the best songs ever, though i prefer the jeff buckley version (it was on his album grace, which i also had on cd as a kid).
