Also Donkey is known for avoiding seriously tense situations because he's a happy-go-lucky guy and ALSO the writers are aware that he's a comic relief character who would be too distracting and annoying in certain scenes that didn't require comedy.

(Wildly late to the party) True, though a dragon having pregnancy-induced mood swings that involve hysterical crying, food-cravings, and irrational anger mean flame-scorched walls and a decimated wild-life population within a 100 mile radius. I do rather like the thought that some of the stories of dragons rampaging across the country-side could be the equivalent of an expecting mother scream-crying "I want chocolate covered pickles!".

On the topic of fighting for love/letting go those you love, I would like to refer to a very wise man's words: "A friend need not be kept within sight or within reach. A friend must be allowed the freedom to find and follow his own path. If one is fortunate, those paths will for a time join. But if paths separate, it is comforting to know that a friend still graces the universe with his skills, and his viewpoint, and his present. For if one is remembered by a friend, one is never truly gone." In my view the same is true about loved ones/things you love. Letting go of those we love is simply allowing them the freedom of choice, instead of like, guilt tripping them or trying to force ourselves onto them. One can of course voice their reasonings and arguments on the pros and cons of each choice, but at the end of the day both parties need to make their own choices, whether they create consensus or not.

The Hawaii Five 0 theme song on the trumpet always gets me. The original show ended long before this movie came out and when I first saw Shrek 2 I was a fan of the 2010 remake so its kind of funny I recognized the tune. This is a prime example of how a sequel can be just as good or better than the original a great plot good character development and a great villain. Also Puss in Boots was an awesome addition it was nice to have a hero with grit. Also looking back the movie really got away with a lot that would not get past censors these days the fairy’s comment about the ‘confused wolf’ the knights ‘arresting’ Shrek Donkey and the catnip on Puss and also Donkey’s food comment.

There's a collection of fantasy/fairytale novels by Jenniffer Wardell that also subvert a lot of the typical fairytale formula. They're all set in the same universe, but each novel is it's own standalone story(though a few make vague references to events of other novels). Fairy Godmother's Inc. is the 1st and basically takes the idea of Fairy Godmothers being a trademarked industry, and things get pretty crazy. Beast Charming does something very different with the 'beauty & the beast' concept, and Fighting Sleep(actually a rewrite of their own novel Dreamless) flips the 'sleeping beauty' concept on it's head. Two Left Feet plays with the '12 dancing princesses' fairytale, and Huff & Puff actually loosely plays with the '3 little pigs' story. Then Once Upon a Tale is a collection of little short stories of characters from the other full-length novels to give a little peak into their backstories or a follow-up on how the 'happily ever after' is going(only Fairy Godmother's Inc. give a look into after the novel). They're pretty entertaining(though some lines may leave you quite shocked).

You wanted to know about Fiona's curse. It's explained in this movie if you were paying attention. You see, the king was once a frog that fell in love with a princess. He had Fairy Godmother change him into a human so that the princess wouldn't consider him ugly, after all, happiness is just a teardrop away! Anyway, Fiona's curse comes from the fact that he was a frog. Now we know the true nature of Fairy Godmother, in that she uses her magic to serve her own self interests. The princess was heir to the Kingdom of Far, Far Away, so very wealthy, and when the former frog dude marries the princess, well, he'd be king, now, wouldn't he? Always good to have very powerful people beholden to you. I really wouldn't be surprised if Fairy Godmother KNEW that a child from such a union would be cursed! So when the curse manifests, instead of removing it, which she probably had the power to do, well, to paraphrase, 'I think I could use this to my advantage'! She convinces the king to lock Fiona in a tower so that she might eventually be 'rescued' and planting in her mind that fantasy of 'Prince Charming'. I wouldn't be surprised if FG talked the king into pushing the idea on Fiona while she was very young so to be more susceptible! So all went according to plan until one day, some guy with delusions of grandeur messes with an ogre, and well, you know the rest....

Hey, Sophie let me give you a reminder about the first Shrek movie scene where Fiona having a conversation with Donkey she mentions a witch that cursed her. At 22:22 Sophie let give you a quick history lesson of why Disney referenced in Shrek is because Jeffrey Katzenberg used to work for Disney when Frank Miller died from a helicopter crash Katzenberg sees this as an opportunity to become president of Disney but Michael Eisner was hesitant about it. They had a talk about Katzenberg got no sympathy for Miller’s death and so Katzenberg quite and co-founded DreamWorks. Unfortunately for Eisner he got a bad case of jealousy and testosterone poisoning for cgi successful films from other studios, and he destroyed the Disney company from within such as destroying the first draft of Chicken Little where Chicken Little was originally a girl whose terrified of monsters got send to summer, ABC on the brink of collapsing itself, the theme parks are joke right after the embracing opening of California Adventure, never ending failures of Disneyland Paris (due to the French not liking the idea of American institution in France) and poor handling of the animation division. When Roy E. Disney (nephew of Walt Disney and Walt’s older brother Roy O. Disney) made a campaign to get rid off Eisner from the company.

I personaly believe the theory, that Fairy God Mother has cursed Fiona herself. It was like a long running game to marry her to Godmother's son later and make him a king. Also I've seen a theory somewhere, that since Charming isn't fairy or has not any magical abilities, and since he probably doesn't have a father, there is a chance that Fairy has "made" Charming not naturally but magically. Idk. I love Shrek
@rachelkelly22937 ай бұрын
I loved this movie! I’ve been looking forward to this reaction!!!
@ShawndaPrawn4 ай бұрын
To answer the question about Fiona’s curse, no. The films never explain how she was cursed or why. However, there is a rather interesting fan theory that the Fairy Godmother was the one who cursed her, playing the long con to make Charming king. Again, this is only a fan theory, but it does seem interesting how the intro prologue confirmed that locking Fiona in the Dragon’s keep until Charming would come to rescue her was the Godmother’s idea, a solution to the problem that perfectly met her agenda…

The curse: Fionna was the daughter of a human an a magically transformed frog, therefore she was an hybrid human/amphibian (an ogre). She transformed day/night as a inherited side effect of the transformation spell. The Fairy Godmother could have cured it from day one, instead convinced her parents to lock her away, until the time was right for her son to grow up, marry her, “dispel” the curse and inherit the crown of Far, Far Away. But Shrek arrived first. My personal take on it.
