Fascinating. I half expected that big 'ol black bear to go after that smallish gator but he wanted no part of him. I finally watched the underwater camera recover I heard of so often in your other videos. That was very impressive. I assumed the batteries where already dead, because its not water what damages electronics, its the shortcuts it produces, when there is power. But those guys just turned on 10sec after pulling them out of the water. I was going to say, in general, if electronics get wet, just remove the batteries quickly and let it dry for a couple of days, but in your case, after those cameras where under water for a couple of weeks, it doesn't make a difference. Anyways, great job and amazing videos :)

Sir, your videos are about the best wildlife footage I have ever consumed, and I am an avid consumer! Sure, some of those Nat Geo types get some classic footage, though they always package it as if to become some kind of Disney anthropomorphic epic. I love your stuff, because the animals all seem so chill, just doing that they do naturally, which means kind of wandering around! Really makes me want to get down to Florida. Yeah, "goofing off"! That seems to be mainly what animals are about! Btw, are you seriously THAT afraid of a gator lying on the trail? Aren't they much more dangerous in the water, which you don't seem to perturbed about? Anyway, keep on strokin! :)
@ShrikeZone5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Andrew. I'm not that afraid of the gators down there. The ones I see in the water usually swim away. The ones on the trail make me a little nervous because they like to stand their ground and don't move when you need to walk by. The one thing that I am nervous about are the water moccasins. They usually don't move until your foot is coming down on top of them and you have to do the one-legged snake avoidance jump.
@andrewstein22265 жыл бұрын
@@ShrikeZone Tim, yeah, the poisonous water snakes in knee+ deep water! That would sure make me a bit nervous. Heard those things can be feisty, too. (Guess the same goes for copper heads.) I really had to get geared up once to back woods hike where there were rattlesnakes, though those ended up being neither too prevalent nor aggressive. Did camp out for while where there were a lot of western diamondbacks (southern Cali). They weren't too feisty, though not what you'd call timid, either. Main thing is once you are around them, you start to settle down. It's chilling in our houses that brings the fear. I just get more alert when I'm in the wild, watch where I'm going, surer on my feet. Yeah, still think those moccasins like that would take some getting used to! But, damn, those skeeters have got to be the worst! At least grateful that's one bug blight TX doesn't have! See you riding your bike with them clinging to your hand. Guess I'd just have to go full body net! HATE me some skeeters! Y'all got West Nile down that way? Fire ants used to bother me, but not no more. Have to be EXTRA damn cautious about the chiggers, though!

As a Florida native myself, I have to ask: Have you ever been attacked or menaced (as in actively hunted) by a gator? I know how they are in rut season and you wouldn't get me in that water then, I've been way too close to them in a John-boat while fishing, and that was enough! A big male bellowed about five yards away and I damn near walked on water. My home area in the Panhandle has a lot of place-names that are a dead giveaway as to what lives there-- Gator Lake in the state park, that sort of thing.
Keep us up to date on what Browning does for you. I don't think any trail camera I ever used would have survived, they are just not meant to be submerged in water for any length of time. Lastly I don't know if your brave or just the opposite to come that close to a gator with no recourse if he wanted to have you for lunch. Thanks for sharing.
