Moving days are always the best followed closely by enrichment walks. I am so happy you're using a ramp for the lions now. Not all of them "need" it yet, but it's good for them to get used to it. I have a couple suggestions about the ramp. It's much too high. The incline is too extreme for them to feel comfortable using it. Also, the grid is harsh on their pads. As someone who depends on a walker to get around, steep inclines cause high anxiety for me. You are going against gravity and feel like you're going to fall backwards. If you make it a little longer so it's a gentle, gradual, climb, they won't be scared of it. You can accommodate a longer ramp by putting clips on the longer side of the ramp to attach to the side of the cage when moving. My other suggestion would be to get rid of the grid. Not only does it hurt their paws, it could easily injure between the pads. I would suggest putting rubber strips, several feet apart, running down the ramp. This would enable them to feel more secure with their footing, and in the rain, provide traction for their feet. As we age, we become more hesitant in our mobility because so many things like eyesight, stiff joints, and balance start abandoning us! We need to feel secure in the placement of our feet. That hesitant feeling happens to everyone, regardless of the species.

My favorite days are walking days and moving days. It’s so wonderful seeing the lions so happy and excited about the changes Kevin provides. There are no boring lives at the Sanctuary. 🙌🏽🦁🦁

@@LionWhispererTV My thoughts on the ramp: It’s a great idea! I’m trying to remember if Bongoni is able to use the ramp to get in and out of the vehicle. What if the ramp were a bit longer to make it less steep? It might make it easier for older lions to get in and out of the vehicle. Just a thought. 😍🦁🙌🏽

This was a brilliant video. I love that Meggy said “not today Kev❤” Love that some have taken to the ramp! Hats off to George for building it, too! I always enjoy seeing him in the videos, too! One more thing, yes, the community is absolutely wonderful. As someone who spends a lot of time isolated (due to a chronic illness) it’s a wonderful way to interact with some lovely people. I enjoyed the channel so much that I decided to give up HBO and use that money to become a member, then a pride leader, and I’ve never looked back😃 If you’re on the fence about becoming a member, just know that it’s kind of like joining a little online family. It's good to see them happy and using the ramp. I went through the same thing with my large dogs as they got older. They wouldn't go near a ramp or steps to get into my SUV. I had to have help come over to lift them up.

Kevin, I love the moving videos. I think my next favorite is feeding day, especially behind the scenes look. I always laugh when Bobcat knocks you around. But it must be thrilling to have such a beautiful apex predator want to be near you. I loved watching him come down the ramp with his massive paws. Btw, I’m still having trouble upgrading my membership. Maybe it’s an issue with my cellphone carrier. But I’ll figure out something because I want to contribute more to your vital work. The Ramp, is a Great Idea, kind of like Steps I get for my Older Cats. THINK this Ramp is Too Steep, seems stressful on front legs to Walk DOWN. I would Try Making it Longer with less Angle, but you and your men are on the right track! Many times watching I thought: "these Old Cats need Steps!" But you are the Expert Kevin! Few people have lived who can be as proud of their Life's Work as you can Kevin!

7:06 Kevin's left arm features quite a lot of scratches. it probably can't be helped, right? even the most careful and gentle lion/leopard/hyena can't take into account our super thin skin every time. a bit of a rambunctious mood and before you know it Kevin has a new scratch.

Would it be helpful to put a two sided replica of the ramp that the lions could practice going up and down? Put one in each enclosure? Might end up chew toys though...lol.

@0:08 Just a thought, maybe you can reduce the angle of the ramp by extending the ramp twice the length by connecting a same size ramp with strong hinges at the end of this ramp. This way you can fold it in and out. So no obstruction while driving the car. Since that second folding part is not part of the cage, you can make it out of a lighter material but just as strong as steel if steel is to heavy to manually fold out, maybe the optional part can made out of strong hard wood. Maybe constructed like a "cat ladder" (only lion size😉) Maybe that will make them feel more comfortable climbing on and off the ramp. Or simply weld two 30 cm (foot) heavy duty legs with hinges at the end of the ramp. Same ramp, and they still have to jump on and off the ramp, but it is not as steep = less hip strain, less stressful for the lion. Like I said, just a thought.

I think the ramp needs to be twice as long and maybe 1/2 again wider. I know that will make the ramp a LOT heavier but I think a more gradual slope will make the ramp less intimidating. I think the width is just barely adequate for them.
