Got to say that this is just about THE PRIMER for anyone with questions about all this circle turning business. I've checked out several of your videos, but somehow missed this one. It covers all the stuff...with just enough info on each subject to keep it rolling and interesting, and I immediately posted it to my FB page. I've often joked that a modeler's field box can tell you at a glance what you need to know about him...from the "Box 'o Stuff"...to the "Operating Room Tray"...to the "Ready-For-Anything with Enough Gear to Almost Build a Plane on the Spot"...(I'm somewhere in the middle!). This vid on handles is good, have 2 that you show, the one that moves the lines closer to center is the one I have to use for the quick response stab. I may not get as good to compete but I like just to go out and have fun, just flying and feel no pressure that I need to do an over head 8 or an outside loop, just good simple flying. Interesting observation about the risk of crashing being part of the appeal. At first, just making it around for a full tank is a major accomplishment. Successful stunts add to the excitement. Finally, you tempt fate by seeing how close you can cut it before pulling out. And sometimes, of course, you cut it a bit too close. (A man's got to know his limitations.)
@shugemery Жыл бұрын
I have found that activities with a good learning curve tend to e the most rewarding. Always tell new control liners to get some epoxy and CA and get used to re-building. And taking apart engines to clean them out after crash. Those limitations get learned eventually. I've reduced my impulse control~~

Hi Shug this is really helpful I am learning new maneuvers at the moment your instructions do give me some direction:) Today I crashed my aeronaut meteor with o.s. la and broke the crankase where the muffler goes while flying inverted. How should I start off flying inverted? by learning an eight first or should I go ahead and fly inverted from an inside loop? Also, I seem to lose a sense of direction when flying above my head and doing the wingovers are there any tips for this?
@shugemery4 жыл бұрын
Try flying at 25, 30, 35, 45° and up as many laps as you can do that will get you used to flying above your head. As far as flying inverted goes I like to stretch out the lazy eights and eventually you’ll be flying inverted before you know it doing it. And remember the more you fly the better you get so burn some gas and build up.

Busted a lot of planes learning the pattern. My goal was just to be able to fly a decent pattern Thankee.

A month to build.. .05 seconds to crush plane 😂

Gives it an edge. You build a motorized piece of art and then risk it in the air. Love that.

How in the hell do you not get dizzy doing this lol
@shugemery4 жыл бұрын
One builds up tolerance. Like ice skaters spinning sorta.
@LauraDelvecchio4 жыл бұрын
shugemery it’s crazy to me to think that one can build up a tolerance against dizziness haha how dizzy were you during/after your first line fly?
@shugemery4 жыл бұрын
Not bad....I was working so hard not to crash I did not even think about getting dizzy. I live dizzy!

You really wanna have some fun? Taking it to where you can fly with your left hand and do the same thing. But just keep in mind you guys stay while hands. Gotta be faster than the other one and then slower with 1 faster. One slower all in the rest like you're doing what I'm saying. Just practice with that. An idea from Robert back in the old days.

minibulldesign.com just want out of business...it breaks my heart I love "Tinny" John Austin...no one makes alcohol stove like he did... Now the word on the street is John went in for cataract eyes surgery...and wasn't sure if he would be able to open the store backup...now I tried to sign into his minibulldesign site...and it looks like his name is on the internet up for sale...I just pray that something bad didn't happen to Tinny...or that he didn't suddenly pass. Please if you find anything out please let use know.. it was all of a sudden...I was going to buy something from him...that is how I found out...Tinny always said he wouldn't just go out of business, without giving his loyal Byers, customers one last chance to buy things, replacement parts...I owned quite a few of his stoves...I loved his remote fuel stoves...I will miss him...I just pray he didn't die?

I've not been in contact with Tinny for quite a while. Hope he fares well. Folks do retire!

? Why do you have a long face mask on ur arm bro?
@shugemery4 жыл бұрын
Sun sleeve. Keeps the UV rays at bay. Had a melanoma on my left arm above elbow. All the sun on my arm from years of driving to gigs. They call it "truckers cancer"

@@shugemery dewd oh that is kinda neat. Ive not known what those were, ive seen ppl wear them. Scary isnt it to hear that mm diagnosis! i had one on my left gluteus maximus, musta been the skinny dipping back in the 80's. They took a chunk out the size of a fing plantain!🍌im sorry, that is cool tho that sleeve! Yes im notta big fan of sunscreen. Necessary now tho, i try to stay hidden from thesun. It is insanely unforgiving!

Or field owners required masks or a far distance. Otherwise we could not use the place that allows our club to fly. It is a pandemic ya' know.

Makes me dizzy watching you fly it just like it used to when I used to fly my P51

I guess if your controline handle is too big you cant use it on a half A plane.

Best to get a dedicated 1/2 A handle....brodak.com/control-line-parts/1-2-control-line-supplies/1-2a-handle.html

We have to wear masks in proximity as many member are older and at risk. Plus the flying site requires it. Unless we are distanced.

Hey Shug, Wayne here from MCLS in Huntersville. Glad to see your still flying as we are also. Great tutorial. Cheers…
