I enjoyed this 3 part series very much Shug. The breaks with the music was a nice touch. And that's a very cool way to do a trip, spontaneous with good food and road trips to break it up. When I was 21 (in 1981) me and 3 buddies went to Louisiana for 10 days from Chicago. We spent time looking for mushrooms under cow pies in farmer's fields, time at the beach, fishing for catfish, and then went to the French Quarter. We camped the whole time. Those were the days. You mentioned it felt like old times to you too. Damn, I can't wait for a road trip now! :)

Ah the good ol exploding bean can. Reminds me of a boy scout campout we had when we were in our teens, someone threw a can of beans in the fire before we all got in the canoes and headed across the lake. Sounded like a freakin canon going off. No one was in camp when it went off, but the scout masters were quite angry and we ALL had to rake up beans from around the campsite. LOL great times. Thanks for the adventure again Hickery Brothers!

Lexington and Greensboro? Oh man you guys where right in my neck of the woods! I have a trip planed for Memorial day weekend to the NC mountains, thinking about exploring the trails along the north-end of the Blue Ridge parkway. Hope I can find a nice deserted State Road where I can pull off to the side and stretch my Ridgerunner between two trees. Its about my only option right now as I don't have a bear-can and Pisgah has mandated it for back-pack camping.

shug I love the videos! I've been an avid backpacker for 8 yrs now. MN proud! The years I've spent on the SHT have been great but recently I have realized there has been more and more trash. With your youtube exposure can you do a video on leave no trace? given your platform and your experience of the gorge, I think you could help empower people to leave the trail better than the way they found it. My uncle and I just got off the trail last week (Silver bay - Lutsen) and were pretty disappointed in the amount of trash on the trail. Keep up the great videos and I hope one day we can hike the SKT or any trail and spot no garbage!

I know this is a little late but the last time you guys were in the gorge ( if I have my weekends correct) I was there the same time but I was on the other side I went in at the falls entrance and started at the Bynum bluff trail, I stopped by the cabin to say hello to everyone and there was a big table set up in the middle of the room covered with free pie from Louise's. I am not sure what all different kinds there were there, I heard some one talking about pineapple but the first one I seen was blackberry and that was as far as I need to go. if I knew you were at shortoff I could have almost hollered across the gorge " Ho Shug free pie " . the next Saturday after watching your video I did have go to go to Stamys for some BBQ, thanks for the idea
