I don't recommend it unless you have a 3080ti or better and a very good CPU. It runs terribly for me on lowest settings and I am over the minimum requirements.

So glad it is difficult and uses Sense controller triggers/haptics and headset rumble. All in all I am buying it. What is the thing about some big games lately not using DFR which absolutely improves clarity? Behemoth got it in and they rushed to get over the finish line. Thanks for the very in depth review.

You've convinced me this is definitely worth trying. I can only get the Quest 3 version though, so I just hope it can deliver enough to make it great there too. And, yeah, hopefully they iron out some of the bugs and just design niggles with some patches. Much of this can definitely be addressed if they simply take the feedback and criticisms on board properly. And it's clear they're passionate about what they've created here, so I think they'll have enough humility and passion to actually do that. Man, I can't wait to try this on Quest 3. Please be good there. Metro was good enough on Quest 3 imo, easily good enough. So, if these guys can get the equivalent with the Alien experience on Quest 3, this could be great. Fingers crossed. PS. Many reviewers have said killing aliens was too easy. And, rather than making them bullet spongers, I'd recommend to the developers to simply have an option that make any alien blood cause damage if you shoot them too close, plus have their acid blood stay on the floor for a bit and cause damage until it oxidises there too. That way people will really have to play smart if they want to not die by acid burns. And I think that will create a lot more of the tension and fear that they're actually looking for.

The game was pushed out too soon. It's only Part 1; for $40. Part 2, a continuation of the story, will also cost $40. $80 for a game that basically bait/switched everyone who pre-ordered. The gameplay is slow/sluggish; people are reporting that when they move their arms in VR, the game is delayed and lagging behind your actual movements; which gives a real disconnect; absolutely NOT what you want in a VR game. You NEED your character's hands/movements to be 1:1 with you, otherwise it can cause disorientation, mess up your gameplay, etc.(Imagine playing a platforming game, except the character's movements are always heavy and lag behind when you press the button. The gameplay is ruined due to this). This game is best bought while on a heavy discount/sale, or wait until Part 2 is complete and it's bundled together at a discount(which there is no guarantee they'll finish Part 2, the publisher might scrap it or the devs might decide it's not financially worth the investment); $80 for the total package is NOT a good deal; and they even inflated the price before release. The cosmetic pack bundled with the game caused this; a blue camo for your pulse rifle, and a blue camo for your character . . .which you never get to see to full effect because you're in VR and this is a solo experience.

Great review hitting all the relevant points, glad to hear it's at its best on PSVR2 (those extras really help VR immersion), does it use HDR though? Would be nice with all that lighting. I have the PS5 PRO (and an RTX3080 PC with PC adapter for PSVR2) but I prefer to play most VR on PS5 Pro now, with those extras and the low friction. I had a quest pro and 2 but can't stand LCD in VR , even less in dark environments like this. It deserves OLED! I hope they patch it for the PRO though and up the res and use eye tracked FR soon, it would make it even better.

People say that the enemy variety is low to 0, being only the xeno and the facehugger. They fail to realize that there are multiple variants of xeno, while hard to spot each one out from another, are very different in health, armor, damage, and even attacks.

In alien and aliens there were only xenomorphs and face huggers. Other Variants weren't introduced until later. Necromorphs for instance were only in alien covenant and that's because David Engineered them

Best review for this game so far. I am tired of people talking abt Alien isolation. I did not enjoy that game. The stalking thing got tired too quick. This on the other hand looks exactly I want from an aliens game. Reminds of the incredible alien game called Alien dark descent.

Great review...thanks for the honest input...I'm probably holding off for a few updates/patches, as you suggest. I thought (ok, I hoped...foolishly) they would have more issues and quirks/wonky-ness/janky-ness ironed out by now, but that's the usual for games at launch, sadly...they are almost always not quite ready for launch. One reason why I don't buy games at launch. I can't even recall the last game I bought at launch...rarely shortly after launch either.

I hear what hes saying, but the clips ive seen all around make the ai look super arcade like, kinda like colonial marines with some minor upgrades. I think it's weird to compare it to isolation, that xeno was alive. But for a vr game this still looks like it could be some fun. I think it's pretty awesome that you have to load each of your bullets.

I would still agree with your comment. The a.i definitely feel like their only purpose is to attack. They don't feel like they are independently thinking. However, outside of some key parts, they don't feel scripted.

Weird...Anyone else notice the motion tracker noise from the first trailer was movie accurate? What happened?? Also, what is up with vr games and no boss battles? No power loader against a queen?? Yes, it can get a bit repetitive, but as an Alien fan I had fun throughout. Definitely a game better played in doses than long playthroughs.

Good to hear the score is great. That was my biggest disappointment with Fireteam Elite's score by Austin Wintory. It just didn't sound like Aliens. I want to hear those James Horner themes when my squad of ultimate badasses are delivering explosive-tipped caseless rounds down range. And the game definitely needs dismemberment! I want to shove my shotty into the dome of one of these things and see bits fly apart. Anyway, installing now. Cannot wait!

Refreshing to see a review not bring up Alien Isolation constantly or use it as a bat to beat this game with. I love Alien Isolation but I can see the argument for and against following that style of game. Some people want to have a tense, exploration style survivor horror and some want an all out guns blazing experience. Kinda like comparing Alien to Aliens. Sounds like it finds a little middle ground at least at times. Looking forward to giving this a try.

I'd have preferred a direct sequel to Isolation, using game mechanics that are similar, instead of a lookalike FPS. There are unresolved story beats in Isolation that are keeping the fans wanting more, not memberberries from that game. This looks SHOCKINGLY, FRIGHTENINGLY similar to Aliens: Colonial Marines......and we all know what a s**tshow that was. I'm not impressed. This type of game was done better with Aliens Vs Predator

Alien Isolation is getting a remaster and a sequel next year, they are a different company. I liked isolation in VR on PC but it's nice to have different flavours of alien not just isolation style over and over.
