I went to high school with Shuggie. Never heard him play the guitar around school. He played drums in marching band, kinda. Never knew he was Johnny Otis' son, not that I would have been aware of Johnny Otis at that age. Wow

At 15 years old in 1969, Shuggie is rippin on guitar here-He is the BLUES MASTER. Even today, he has made a come-back having been in "shadows" for about 30 or 40 years! As I speak, he is knockin them out in Europe!

Used to listen to this record every day after school, when it came out in 1969.

One of the greatest bargain bin purchases I ever made. Helped me through Freshman year.

Whoa~Shuggie Otis! Possibly the greatest blues/jam ever done by a guitarist, and Shuggie was only 15 years old when this song was waxed! Wow, move over B.B., Elmore James, T-Bone! I have this original vinyl LP that this tune came from. This song and that LP inspired me to play the blues on my guitar. This tune is TIMELESS. MOVE OVER SRV! You probably learned your licks from Shuggie in the first place!

Been listening to Shuggie Otis since the '70's.... one of the very best in his genre, certainly a most underrated muscian, yet one of the finest blues guitarists' - up there with the greats. Love this album, played it non stop, hey it was the 'seventies!! Frosty, will send you a link somehow!! Marcie xxooxx I too thought of you during Hurricane Sandy, funny*

Great song! Great guitar playing from Shuggie. But what happened to the recording? The piano is barely, and I mean barely, audible. Most evident from 3:30 to 4:20.

Sorry, but Shuggie's dad was my friend the late, great, Johnny Otis.

I love this, but the drums need to be more "out front". This is what happens when you get a "DB", so called engineer.
@91Kingscrib846 жыл бұрын
It's not about the drummer! In this case he's there to keep time. It's about Al Kooper's organ playing & Shuggie's guitar riffing! It's showing off their impressive talents!

Johnnyc drums, actually on the actual vinyl LP which I have, the drums come way out MORE on the mix. Somehow the guy that digitized this cut from the original analog album screwed up the drums on the mix. A guy named Wells Kelly plays the drums here and is really great!
