Ha ha ha...Thank you my Friend! Thank you for the kind words! Now that time has passed...the "pain" and aggravation have left me. YES...I spilled almost the whole gallon...what a mess...and when you have everything in "labeled" containers trying to organize is harder than the first time....ha ha ha. I gained about 1 sec of quickness on off the line times...maybe 1 or 2 mph on top speed. The most noticeable improvement...off the line torque. BUT it did make my display act quirky at high speeds...the speed will flip back and forth...for example....once you go over 45 mph...the speedo will flip 46/47/48 and when I go down hills...it will flip 53/54/55 back and forth..back and forth.... Not sure why

Bruce you needed to hold that solder iron on the copper long so it would have sucked the solder into the copper you didn't just want to ball the solder up because it may come loose and fall into other stuff. You definitely didn't hold the iron on long enough to mend the copper to the solder. Need the solder to melt into it and turn shiny.
@140theguy6 ай бұрын
And you must use very high-quality solder or it will melt when your controller gets hot. Cheap solder doesn't stick very well in the first place. Thanks for the show. 👍

I've never heard of leaving it charging after fully done - to better balance the cells, it was news to me, would be impossible to do with my charger. Also, I NeVeR fast charge my battery, I'll wait as long as it takes to charge it slowly.

Im afraid you waaaay over did it mate, you put far too much copper wire & solder on, you only need to really squeeze the shunts gently together and then solder a thin smooth line all the way across the top of the shunt bars... Shunt-modding is a job that needs to be done very carefully, and to not go too crazy adding far too much wire / solder. Seems its worked as your gettimg much improved acceleration from it, just keep an eye on it and dont push it too hard for too long up an overly long hill... But it should be ok, it seemed to work. You could always carefull heat up the solder and wiring and gently remove it, it may have been a better idea to note the specif model of your controller and then watched you tube vids of people doimg the mod on this brand of controller... Well, im at the 17 minute mark, to un-void your warranty simply buy the exact same controller and switch it out, problem solved - what they dont know wont affect them and you will still be in warranty. 47 mph and a 1 secong improved acceleration is a success. And 20 pounds is a lot of extra weight Bruce lol 😅... Ive never had anything but positive results from shunt modding, each to their own.. 👍 I guess its not for the worriers is shunt-modding 😅

Ha ha ha....I know...when I was done...I looked at it....and said to myself..."you may kill your controller and motor...." 😅🤣😂 I threw caution to the wind. I have ridden the bike about 50 miles now....and did about 30 miles of mostly high speed and steep hill riding (video coming...it is my "Rehab of the Rich and Famous" video....no issues. So....my shunt mod is safe but the attorney in me will not allow me to recommend. 😁

@MickyBee736 ай бұрын
It improves performance, much sharper acceleration - and a tad more top speed for some people... If done correctly it works, Ive done it to a lot of controllers for myself & others and never had any problems... It's easy to do. 👍
@IMBruceECLECTIC6 ай бұрын
That is a great question....I should have told everyone because not everyone knows what a "Shunt Mod" is......it is to make the bike quicker off the line and faster over all. It makes the controller work harder....like turning a 50 amp controller into 50+ amp controller. I was so frustrated....I never tested the final product and never will with regard to amp increase. It is a little torquier and maybe a little faster....but I am thinking the real benefit was off the line quickness. I will NEVER do it again........
@IMBruceECLECTIC6 ай бұрын
@@MickyBee73 ....thanks Mate. It was hard for this noob to do. Won't do it again...not worth the effort and it voids your warranty. For me...it was a combination trying to make a video that could help people make an informed decision of whether they want to take the risk and some more speed. Not enough speed came from it for me.
@MickyBee736 ай бұрын
@@IMBruceECLECTIC it's not primarily for speed, more voltage equals more speed, more amps in the controller equals more torque... But the shunt mod just mainly sharpens up the acceleration, and some people may get 1/2 mph more. I've mastered the art of doing it, but when I first did it, well I did it in increments, by adding a small thin amount of solder, testing, adding a little more, more testing...etc etc...until I had it feeling just right overall. It's always best to watch KZbin vids specifically for your model of controller, copper wire does help but it's usually fine when just adding the solder, the key is to get it smoothly across the shunts and gently down either side also - that's what I've found from doing it on my own e-build and also doing it for others E-bike controllers... Not had any problems this far with Any of the mods I've done for myself, or for others... I just think you went a little crazy with it 😅👍

@@IMBruceECLECTIC ok mate, well, it should be ok, just keep your eye on the temp of the controller when pushing it hard for prolonged periods up long and steep hills, so it doesn't overheat and blow, but it should be fine...
