Thank you so much for this review, Sir Prawn. I have been belabouring over the MV7, the Blue Yeti trio (but particularly the X), the Rode NT and the Samson G Track ... and listening to your deep, dulcet tones on all of them - far & away is the MV7 the best. It just gives your voice so much more body and is so nice & clean, and warm, and quiet insofar as BG noise. Indeed, I was already leaning towards the MV7 ... but now I am sold! For sure, the Blue Yeti has been recommended to me by quite a few people, and I was open to it and ready to spend the $100+, but I just needed to make sure that truly was the one for me and so had to do my own research first. Although quite a number of great reviews for the Yeti, and they are all very pretty, the MV7 kept coming up again and again as the mic best suited for my voice (VO & internet radio DJ'ing). So, thank you again for sealing the deal - I will feel comfort in that the additional $150 spent for the MV7 over the Yeti will be a great investment. And thanks for taking the time to make these extremely useful videos.

Thanks for the awesome comment. Yes the MV7 is far superior. I was really impressed with the quality as it's on par with the SM7B but much more affordable. Plus it handles external background noise really well too. So it's near perfect for the price.

One of the main reasons the Shure doesn't capture nearly as much background noise as the Yeti, is the fact that it's a dynamic mic, unlike the Yeti, which is condenser. That alone makes all the difference in the distance of sound capture, even using both mics on cardioid pattern. But I definitely love the concept of being able to buy a mic, which can in the future be used as XLR but allows, to also be used as a standalone usb mic for when you're starting or just on the road.

@Grungeboy You keep going round different reviews saying the same "garbage" yourself - it's called projection. Which means it says far more about you than the microphones... You offer no constructive criticism or offer any insight into alternatives to your projected "garbage" microphones. So, as you sound about 12 years old, and that is probably an insult to most 12 year olds, maybe come back to KZbin or its future self, when you turn 20 and can articulate and process decent information.

@@Clawzskunkie the problem I have with mics and headsets is people often want a mic comparison which I usually can't do as I've not got both products to hand. And they complain when it's not there but sometimes I had to return the device ages ago, so I only have footage. I need to figure out a way to improve upon this while also juggling issues of storage space and time management (I only do this as a hobby, not as a full time job). But I appreciate your thoughts and I'll try to work something out next time. I wasn't aware it was that bad.
@Clawzskunkie
@Clawzskunkie 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheProvokedPrawn I get that. Maybe create a standardised recording test, where you can keep all the settings and the test phrase the same for each microphone so you can then chop each individual audio recording and then play them back to back against the new microphones you receive to test? That way while you might not have the microphone, you still have a comparison audio test you can use to demonstrate the difference?

Good review but I have to disagree. I’ve been using the shore for two weeks and I’m very disappointed. I’ve tried tweaking the settings I’ve tried recording close up or at a distance and I still get a very tinny and puppy quality. I’ve worked in Radio for a long time and I know my microphones. I’m now thinking of selling the shure and buying the blue yeti X.
