His comedy may not appeal to everyone today, but just what the world needs now , more people like the gentle, clever and selfless Larry Grayson. Much missed, never equalled.

I am from Bermuda Village near nuneaton. The old people in the village loved Billy aka Larry. When we did cross country running at school we used to go past Larry’s house and always wanted to see him. What you see on tv is pure Larry and pure Nuneaton

It didn't appeal to everyone then, either. But it's easy to forget, or overlook, how clever he was, and how quick. He enjoyed his eventual success, and deserved it.

When Ken Dodd sang your praises, for sure you’d made it in the world of comedy. Very simply, Larry was a one-of-a-kind genius. Utterly unique and original.

He was the king of asides and timing. He was also remembered as a lovely kind and gentle man. You can see how much Isla loved him. I have seen a post how he used to have drink at a pub in Nuneaton and he was just himself and made everyone laugh. Working men included. Never forgot who he was. I met him at a store appearance, my dad was hosting the event and he took the time to find him and say thank you. Gave my gran a big hug. God bless you Larry. We can all only hope we can leave such lovely memories when we go.

He was kind, funny and very, very gay. He did yeoman's work in counteracting the nastiness of bible thumpers and Tories towards gay men, just by being himself. People would hear the sermons and parliamentary rants against gay men and think, "Oh, but that Larry Grayson is a pouf, and he's a lovely man. I'd happily have him home for tea. The vicar just can't be right about him.". Larry was the visible, and lovable, face of gay men to lots of people, and that benefited everyone - but especially the gay men who couldn't be open about it because they'd be fired or face other ostracism. Larry made the world safer and more open for all gay men in Britain, just by being the fabulous, good-hearted entertainer that he was.

Similar in that it's effeminate but definately not the same at all. Frankie was very jealous of Larry esp as Frankie wanted the generation game.. What u have to understand is Larry is overtly homosexual uncle in his campness whereas Frankie wasn't.both fantastic legends. Wonderful men. Shame never saw them together.

Hello JPI, thanks a lot for all your uploads. I'm searching for long time the BBC2 Playhouse - my dear palestrina 1980 episode. Looking for this episode for long time and it seems it's impossible to find it on the net. There is any chance you can upload this episode?

Why is the woman putting on the BBC accent? She should have just used her regional accent and be done with it since she can't stick with it. Thank god they don't do that as much nowadays.
