This video is going over the layout of the Panasonic FZ80 (or FZ82). This is to help those who have purchased the camera, either to introduce them to the buttons and doors, or for someone who has already had the camera but needed a reminder. The more you know, the less you will feel intimidated with the available settings and features! I also have photo and video examples from the camera at the beginning of the walkthrough!
If you have questions I did not answer, please let me know in the comments below!
CORRECTION: At 2:33 I mention this camera does not have in body stabilization only optical. This is false! When making this video, I misspoke and thought optical was digital. In the case of DIGITAL stabilization, it would not have in body stabilization. However, OPTICAL stabilization IS in body stabilization for this camera! My apologies for any mix ups!

Thank you Heather. After reading the manual, and looking at another "'how to" KZbin video I thought I'd just return the camera, my husband found Shutter Bug , in 30 minutes I learned enough about the camera to know it wasn't made just to drive me crazy. Heather, you are a great instructor. Heather tells you all the things you need to know to get started.

What an amazing video - thank you. As a photography moron I found your video astoundingly helpful. I tried a few other tutorials and they managed to bamboozle me within seconds and leave me suffering with feelings of photographic inadequacies. You, in contrast, made understanding simple. I now actually think I might be able to take a photo or two 😁 As one KZbinr to another, keep up the excellent work. It's largely unrewarding, but I guarantee you're helping more people than you'll ever really know. You've certainly helped me and earned my eternal thanks and subscription. Now... if you could just pop across the Atlantic and take my pictures for me... No? I'd better watch some more of your videos then 😄

I agree with the poster who said this is the cleanest video out there for the FX80. Within her start, I was able to do Auto pics, and flix. I've had this camera for way to long now, and have tried many others videos, after long ago having trashed the written instructions Panasonic lamely laid on this thing. Anyhow, Thanks for posting this. My plan is to watch a few minutes a day, until I feel comfy with this camera.

Absolutely brilliant run through of all the things I couldn't find anywhere else, certainly not in the unreadable manuals from Panasonic and a number of other 'how to' videos. Thank you so much for your clarity and comprehensiveness. I suspect many people like me get stuck at the 'what does that do?' stage and how to change, try out and importantly REVERSE various of the multiple settings. I have felt overwhelmed and depressed by this camera. After your video I now feel inspired and will be able to try out so many of the things which caused me utter confusion. Bless you and happy new year!

Thank you, Heather. I have just bought the FZ82 and set it up. However, when I switch the camera on, the zoom lens immediately sets at 154 - 1200 Zoom, while it is supposed to be 20 - 1200. I have gone on holiday with my lovely wife, and I have been rather disappointed that I can't take a full shot of something near, instead; the camera zooms out straight to 154 Zoom, instead of 20. So, I have to take about 50 steps back to take a near photo of my wife or anything else that I don't need to zoom out too far for. Anyway, me and the misses have been trying in vain to find out why on the settings, etc, to no avail. So, we came across your video on KZbin, and you explained, "If there's a problem, you can't solve, reset the camera." I'm charging the camera, and when it's done, I'll try it in the morning lol.ive been using a Sony H400 for the last ten yrs. But when I take a shot quite often, the camera suddenly just goes back to the setting I'm on on the menu, and I have to press the button again. I thought after using the H400 I would be better at photography, but technology has moved on from the Sony H400, so I'm gonna have to get used to this. I'll be checking out your other videos, as you make a lot of sense. Please keep it up with the vids as I don't mind reading through the manual. But it does take lot of time to do that. You make it easier. 🎉

Thank you an informative video. I had a Nikon FG for years and crossed over to digital about 10 years ago using a small Kodak. Most recently I had used a pocket Lumix ZS60 but found the controls too difficult for my fat fingers to use. I now have a FZ80 (which has exactly the same set up as the ZS60 and the same confusing instruction manual) - so thank you for this clear video. Controlling depth of field used to be easy with my FG and has been difficult for me to adapt to in the digital world. I see you have a link for this so that is where I am headed. 😊

Hello John! Tokina lenses are inexpensive but I have found that I’ve never been happy with the autofocus ability, if there is any. Typically if you want to cover a wide range, the Holy Trinity as it is referred to would be the 16-35mm, the 24-70mm and the 70-200mm all 2.8. So if your set on 3 covering a wide range, that’s what I would go with.

Hi, sugar... My wonderful husband just gave me the FZ80 for my birthday and I've been checking out the "how-to"s on KZbin. Thank heaven for yours! It's the only one that makes sense to me. Especially at the end when you say don't try to do too much in the beginning because it will become too complicated and you'll never use it...or words to that effect. Amen! I already took it out in the back yard and shot pix of my friendly feral cat and a Cardinal that she missed, and some wonderful cumulus clouds that covered the afternoon sky. I'm ready to go forth and try out some of the other settings that I'm not familiar with. Not too much at once, of course. ;-) Thanks so much for being here. Would have been afraid to even try the camera without your terrific video. So now I tried it and I have one problem I am hoping you can advise me on -- it does not seem to do well in the lower light in the telephoto function. How do I adjust for that? Also you mentioned that this camera has one kind of stabilization but another kind, thereby requiring a tripod. What would I look for in order to have both the types of stabilization you mention? In other words, what would my Amazon search term for both stabilizations be?
@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 2 жыл бұрын
All cameras have pros and cons in different areas, so for this camera the pro is you get more distance, but the con is it is not great in low light environments. You can use a tripod to help with the shakiness in low light when using the telephoto, but it will still struggle if your subject is moving as well. When doing the walkthrough, I had said it has digital stabilization not optical (which I was wrong, it has optical stabilization which is the better one). All you need to do is turn it on in the menu when you are handheld, and if you do use a tripod, you turn it off. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 3 жыл бұрын
There is a facial recognition you can use in camera that will recognize faces and sort them accordingly for you. It saves those profiles if you set it in the menu. So when you reset the camera, it is just asking if you want to reset all the custom saved info as well, like the profiles or wireless connections. So you can just select yes through the prompts if you haven't utilized those options.

Love this video! You have really helped me a lot w this camera, which I received for Christmas. I thought I was never going to figure it out, so I'm glad I found you. Thank you for the great details.The only question I have is do you have a video for zooming? I have seen other videos and it seems like they can zoom so much farther than what I am able to do, but I am totally clueless on how to set this. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much for an understandable (at my level) intro to this camera. What I really want to know now is how to take good macro shots, both getting up close or shooting from a distance and making it look like a macro shot, for example a butterfly shot from 15 feet.

Happy to help! Here is a video about the basics of macro photography and your camera does have a macro mode available by using the iA mode or changing the focusing mode yourself! Please let me know if you have any questions! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5ndg2B6jal3Z9k

@@Shutterbug101 please tell me if the tamron 18-200 is better than the 50mm or is it the other way around
@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 4 жыл бұрын
The 50mm is better in low light, is faster focusing, and accomplishes the blurred background look for portraits well, while the 18-200 is really just good in the middle of the day and gives you a convenient range to work with, so it all depends. Quality wise, the 50mm is better.

Thanks so much! I was stuck in the 4K mode and having to get a picture I wanted and then having to delete the video. It will also be much easier to navigate all the different settings in the menus. I also have a Canon camera and zoom lens for birds and other wildlife mostly, but this one will be great for lots of things. The manual that came with it was not helpful.
