Thank you for this helpful series of videos! For this one - why didn't you change colors for the chain between rings B & C? I would have thought you'd use the orange color showing in all of the chains. Does it matter which color / thread you choose for the chain?

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The answer to your question has some 'if's and buts' in it... so I hope you're able to follow my explanation.....let's see how we go! 😁 This video was made to explain when and why we reverse our work. I didn't change colours so you can follow whether the work was reversed or not. The different colours help highlight that. If you're working a project, and you wanted your chains all the same colour, then yes - you would change your colours OR you can use it as a highlight in the piece and have different coloured chains as we have in the sample. BUT... don't ever cross your threads over. You can't just pick up the other shuttle and start working in the same colour. You always work with the thread that sits at the top. To be able to continue in the same colour, you need to do 'the shoelace trick'. I'll leave a link for you which explains what the shoelace trick is. I hope my answer is clear and it helps you. 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qV6vYZhpfd9mms0si=-rDYcHJ43964CP8O

I thought my question went through, but I guess not. Where can I find the pattern for this bookmark?
@NooBearAus Жыл бұрын
I just replied to your question on Etsy. This is the only question I have from you, maybe you didn't press send? This is a small sampler with the pattern showing on the screen at the start of the video, it's not a bookmark pattern.

@@NooBearAus It's really beautiful with the tassel. I thought it was a bookmark because I thought it was on a book at the beginning of the video. I would love to have the pattern if you sell it OR if you use the whole pattern as project in a video i have not seen yet. I am so new to your channel and there's so much here! I would like to know what to watch after rings, chains, picots and adding a new thread.

Thank you! I now understand the reversals - except... why do you change which bobbin is the working bobbin? It seems like you could have continued with the same working thread when you reverse?

Please don't think me rude if I answer you by saying 'try it' - I'd like you to get two different coloured threads and work the sample in the video. The reason I want you to do this is because then you can literally see for yourself why we change shuttles. This is often so much better, and makes more sense than someone just telling you why it doesn't work. But I will also answer you by explaining that the threads will twist over. Never cross your threads, you always work with a 'clear path' - kind of like a 'V' on it's side... if you DO try it, you'll see what I mean. 🙂

@@NooBearAusI already did, right after commenting. It is possible to do with one shuttle, but I'm betting it would be easier with two.

It sounds like we're talking about two different things.

Hi Mam superb it looks lovely but can you make it a little slow or do you have a separate video for beginners please reply
@NooBearAus2 жыл бұрын
I don't have a separate video, but if you click on 'settings' you can change the playback speed to slow the video down. I hope that helps!

This thread has a sheen to it, can you tell me the brand please?
@NooBearAus2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry I don't know the actual brand. I get my thread from AlenAlea Design (Lea imports it then hand dyes it) - that's not much help, sorry! www.etsy.com/au/shop/AlenAleaDesign
