Of course there are evil characters, plenty of them. The imposter of toki, the jackal, the 4 guys working for shin, those army men who believe they are chosen ones, the warden of cassandra, and of course Jagi. But the "big bosses", like raoh, souther, and those three hokuto brothers on the other continent (forgot the names) are always more "human" than those, despite terrible things some of them did.

Shu offered his sight to Souther. Souther killed his wife and his son. With a single attack, Souther defeated Shu and injuried him in a way that he could never use his technique again. Finally, Shu died as a slave, building Souther's pyramid. He appeared as a great warrior, and he was if you consider that he was blind. But he's a tragic character, and his life was an uninterrupted series of sacrifices and defeats. In the long term, his only merit was to awaken Ken's anger. And Ken involuntarily highlighted this, by using Shu's technique to spill Souther's blood, because Shu couldn't hit him at all.

I remember crying when Rei died in the 1986 movie. Some gut wrenching feeling here. And to remind some out there: The name "Souther" is the English conversion of the original Japanese term. A lot of Japanese words are hard to interpret into English. They use a different set of phonetics. And regarding the shortened story compared with the series... IT'S A MOVIE. There is a lot of material to compress into a feature film.

Think about it like this. Kenshiro is the champion of good and kindness of the world. He would without question choose his life over even the weakest of individual's. Yet when Shuu died he couldn't help himself. Souther said "If you take one step towards Shuu I will slaughter all of them." and Kenshiro still ran after his friend in his dying moments. That's the sheer sorrow he felt for Shuu, he would risk dozens of lives to be with his friend in his final moments. *THAT* is a true friend.

He is one of the main 6 Nanto masters in Fist of the North Star. He originally served Souther, but went against him. He happened to become friends with Kenshiro. When Souther went on his conquest, Shuu stood up to him, but sacrificed himself to save his villagers.
@TheGroumpfy11 жыл бұрын
But they all had a reason to do so, it's not like they were born to burn puppies. Amiba was insecure of his weakness, Jackal did it to survive, Shin's men didn't really have the choice since they were under Shin's command, same thing for Uighur which was intimdated by Raoh. I believe the whole point of the series is to show how people can fall into brutality and evil in a world like that. And if we had to compare, IMO Souther is the most fucked up bastard...Maybe tied with Jagi.

It's a scientifically proven fact that people who cry when shit hits the fan, use that crying to cope with the situation. They get over it easier. Men who do not cry get traumatized easier. Therefore, crying is not weakness, it's great strength.

Unfortunately, probably never will. There are absolutely no anime publishers here in North America that feel that there's enough support from North American viewers to maintain good sales if any new Fist of the North Star DVDs were ever released. New Fist of the North Star was in bargain bins within the first few days of it's Stateside release, and all other Fist releases are now garage-sale prices for anything, including manga and the Left-to-Right format comic books. :/ It's sad, honestly

@Lordlt82 Kenpachi? We're talking about a guy that doesn't need any swords or weapons to fight except his body being said weapon of mass destruction. The same guy that Chuck Norris checks under the bed for. He cries because someone that helped him when he was a kid even died. That's not weakness, that's strength. Does Kenpachi even care about anyone enough to cry? Doubt it. But Kenshiro does, that's why he's not evil like all his enemies. And even if he cries, Ken doesn't die either.
@DMAN9912 жыл бұрын
Exactly Goku21060, most wise sage of KZbin commenters. Even though he never said you shouldn't cry, the first guy said LOL, the second said he was crying, so I said that only real men cry and that "these" tears are inspiring others and that they inspire all. I'm refering to Kenshiro's tears, tears that have in fact inspired many over the years. So basically what i'm saying, Goku21060 is that really, your response to my response is kind of stupid, considering I was just having fun.
