Telling Americans that your favorite place in US is L.A. will annoy everyone except those from L.A.
@colbyjackson891922 күн бұрын
So your hometown would need to be their favorite place for you not to be annoyed? That's obserred. And if your hometown is your favorite place in the country, it makes me wonder if you've ever left your hometown, like ever. There's a sh!t ton of people who've favorite place is LA. I'm pretty sure there's plenty of people in Flint, MI would much rather be there. Whats crszy to me is that America has a huge sharing culture and a huge commuting culture, but the British never seem to understand that. A one-way commute to work could be anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. For those trips, you would want a big cup of big gulp filled with crushed ice. As for portions of sandwiches and whatnot, people have families or friends they share that with. That's a family meal. If not to share, it's too have for days or weeks and not need to keep going back to the store.
@newwineskin54945 күн бұрын

As a geography major, allow me to explain the geography question with a bit of context. In most schools here it isn't a separate subject on its own; it is included under the umbrella of social studies. Basically, it requires teachers to cover the material of several subjects at one time, and apparently that means geography is learned as a byproduct. On the somewhat rare occasion when geography does take priority they usually choose to focus on domestic locations (50 states etc.) as it's a comparatively large area to most European countries (almost as big as the entire continent). These students obviously never made it to a level where they were required to learn about any locations outside of the US from a geographical perspective, probably only a historical one, which is why they're just throwing random location names as answers. It's embarrassing, but a common issue for students that don't have access to private schools or curriculums that emphasize globalized learning.

You guys did fantastic!! Honestly as a lifelong American some of these cities feel big enough to be states and some regions are talked about like they are states. And there’s 50 of them (not 51) so it is hard to tell all these names apart. I can almost never remember all of them myself. Yall did great and even remembered ones I was not expecting.

16:30 to be fair we essentially have 50 different country sized entities in a trench coat.

16:19 Geography is taught over here, certain schools just don’t focus on it. Freshman year of HS I had to draw maps of all the continents, with countries & capitols included. Then one more map focused on just the US, the states & capitols as well. For the tests in that class, for the most part, we had to redraw & relabel everything 😅

As an American, James being that distraught about missing a couple states shows it’s all love. 💯 I typed this before they mentioned ATL. We lit out here fr. 😂😂
