About this video: Meeka is a 5 month old Siberian Husky that has a low tolerance to frustration. When she becomes frustrated she barks, lunges and will sometimes redirect onto the person holding the other end of the leash. In this video we worked on an exercise that will teach her to be calm in the presence of stimuli that would otherwise generate frustration.

Cool! Maybe this is the method I should use because my 2 year old Siberian husky is so distracted during walks and keep pulling me around, and he is really strong

I don't like clicker training .... We have voices to communicate with wich to me is way more personal then pressing a clickerdiclickthing. It works though, i just don't like it XD

our family husky looks exactly the same and she is 6 months old her name is Nany she is part wolve we need to train her she jumps around but we learned not to be scared of her she jumps over me a lot but If you want to have a husky as a pet you gotta know how to not be afraid of husky's. They say that girl husky's are more active and aggressive than the boy Husky's when their small and are not trained.

TY. Question: When you i start training my puppy for a walk? My boy Zeus is 2 months old and im already training him with treats and the collar. He doesn't like to wear it, when i put it on he stops walking or just walk a few steps and sits trying to take it off. So, im just being very patient for now.

Ariel Pérez Thank you so much for watching and I love what you wrote about patience. That's key. Take is slow. Pair the collar/harness/leash with fun little puppy training exercises in your living room, or right outside your front door. Use high value food, and make training fun. With time and patience this will help Zeus learn to make positive associations with the collar/harness/leash. He will also learn to be more engaged with you when he's wearing them, which will set the stage for good leash walking skills down the road. - Alyssa Lapinel, CPDT-KA

Alyssa, my Siberian husky is 5 months old and I am having trouble with him biting. At first I thought it was because he was teething but it seems too aggressive. He also has a hard time grasping potty training. I'm not sure what to do next. I am considering training classes soon.

What is the clicker used for exactly? wouldn't the dog get confused if used for more than one thing suck as playing fetch and dropping, etc..?

Hi! Thanks for watching my video, and for taking the time to comment. The click is a marker. It's used to mark desired behavior and predicts reinforcement. It's synonymous to saying "good job." Trainers like using clickers because it is a more concise, more distinct sound and usually has a stronger pairing. Meaning, people are usually better about consistently pairing the clicker with high value reinforcement. Thanks again for watching!

My huskies have bad problems with escaping and bolting out the doors when my family members come in. One's a black male thats 1year old and the other is a 5month female puppy and when they run they NEVER come when called...

Mine does the same thing lol. I would have to run after him then yell out "you want a treat??!!" Then run back to the house, he'll usually run after me when I do. If that doesn't work I just wait till he's tired and comes back home. He's almost 2yrs old.

I heard and saw in many other videos that if you get his attention then run in the opposite direction, chances are that he'll run after you :) Personal experience, my neighbor's dog always comes barking at us when we are outside and the owner tries to get the dog back and she won't listen until my neighbor decides to quit and go home.. then the dog follows lolll stupid old dog!

Silvana Trimboli - The secret to successful training is to build criteria in a systematic manner. The first time I meet with any dog I am assessing their focus, attention and impulse control and then I outline a training plan to meet their needs. Training starts in low stress environments, with controlled distractions and then builds up to real life situations by the fourth or fifth week of the dog's training program. Not sure where you are located but I do offer skype consultations, if you're interested in learning more. - Alyssa Lapinel, CPDT

no matter how hard I try to train my husky it seems impossible. he barks 24/7 non stop, wont listen to me when I call him, and pulls WAY too much. He's a 3 year old male with a lot of energy. he is WAY too stubborn. I've trained him where there are no distractions and he seemed to learn the basic "sit" command and he is in the process of learning "stay" and "lay down" but once I take him back outside it's like im speaking some unknown language to him. I've also trained him outside and I get the same positive results but when it's time to test him on a walk he absolutely fails. I really need help and I don't have the time or money to take him to training classes.

jessica magana Hey! Thanks for posting. I really like how you phrased this "it's like im speaking some unknown language to him." This is very appropriate. For me training is about creating a common language. The best way to get the most reliable training results is to break criteria down, and gradually build it back up. Presenting information in a manner that allows you and your dog to stay on the same page, and speak the same "language." Write down a list of things that distract your dog, anything that generates stress, fear, excitement, frustration or anxiety. Create a hierarchy from that list. Train him to "think" through low level distractions, and then progressively work your way up. If you need help identifying triggers, let me know. We can set up a skype training consultation. Thanks for watching my video. - Alyssa

i bought an 8 month siberian husky who was abused by her last owner and now she's a year and a half with separation issues but when i bought her, i was told she knew her commands and everything but when i took her home, she didnt do one thing i asked (like sit, shake paw and respond to her name) and was very aggressive towards treats. knowing how excited huskies get, i have given her 5 days to get use to me and she still did not listen as if she didnt understand. with her age as of now and how long its taken her to know her name, sit and shake paws as well taking treats gently, is it normal for a husky her age to take that long to learn when im with her every day even with the leash?

***** Thanks for watching my video. Basic training is dependent on a good relationship. It requires understanding, trust and communication. A good relationship doesn't transfer from person to person - and from what you wrote in your post - may never have been established with her previous owner. My recommendation would be to look into trainers that use positive reinforcement training. Start easy. Particularly if she is experiencing a lot of anxiety. Avoid teaching shake or paw, at least until you have a strong foundation with calming behaviors like sit-stays, down-stays and place-stays. Start training in a stress-free environment, like your living room, and gradually build up to more challenging environments. I have over 100 videos on youtube that may be helpful to you. The majority of my videos pertain to how to create a training plan for dogs experience issues related to stress and anxiety. Emily Larlham's youtube channel ( kikopup ) is another valuable resource of information. Emily is an incredibly talented trainer, and produces fantastic videos. You can also contact me through my website: www.legendsdogtraining.com if you would like more customized training advice. - Alyssa

pikatachi ! Hi, thanks for watching. The idea behind this exercise is to teach your dog to check in with distractions. We can do this by first creating some controlled set ups, and prompting and subsequently reinforcing when the dog looks away from he distraction and back in your general direction. Practicing check-ins can minimize frustrated behavior and pulling on leash. If you are curious to learn more you can check out this online course for behavior modification: www.basetrainingmethod.com Thanks again for watching. Best, Alyssa Rose, CPDT-KA
