This made me realize that I'm a terrible brother man. I barely hang with my 9 year old sister cause damn man she annoyin lmao, but at the same time I wanna have a relationship with her you know. I'm 17 and a senior, 18 in April, and I just realized that I'm running outta time. I'm gonna be gone soon and...well, we don't really have that great a relationship. Idk if this is how it's suppose to be till we grow older or what but, I do know, that I wanna know her, y'know? I don't wanna not know her, she's my fam. But whenever I try to hangout, we always argue and shit and it just makes me angry and SO annoyed. And it also seems like I always have other shit to do in my life. Like there's always something more important. But there's not! And I don't see that until later on! When I grow older, I just hope my sister sees me as a good person, that's just trying to do his best at life with the cards that he was given. I want her to have good memories of us doin cool shit, but it just never seems to go that way. And realizing and knowing it's my fault makes it worse. I just need to do better, but it's almost at the end of myh childhood, bout to go to college in like 5 or 6 months, how can I make up for all the missing years? And even though I wasn't physically missing, I was missing. Just gotta start doing better now, right?

Met Rodgers yes, exactly what you can do! Just do better, put in the effort to be her brother my dude. Same happened with me but I was the younger sibling and even as a kid I noticed that we had changed. Promise it’ll turn out to be a great relationship one day if you spend quality time with her, I mean you’re siblings for a reason.

With the internet and technology you'll only be one phone call away so don't worry about physically not being there. I hope that you build a better relationship with her, good luck! And try not to get annoyed with her, she's only 9 and yall have nearly a decade of an age gap so be the adult and let her win some arguments :)

This is soo me. i’m 17 turning 18 in april and my sister is 9 and her and i are always arguing. We just argued about a piece of paper 3 minutes ago. I don’t wanna look back a few years and regret not being a better sister when she starts to neglect me.

One way that you could spend time with your sister is by playing games together. So, my sister and I sometimes play the piano tiles game together and its like a good type of competition, and it's good type of bonding time that we have. She's 11 and I'm 18

Me and my sister haven't talked in months, she beat up our mum, blamed me and my dad for our mums car crash (it was no ones fault she pulled out from behind a tractor and the car was just there) she was horrible when I was pregnant. She forces her kids on everyone else because she would rather do drugs with her boyfriends shes been cruel since I can remember and I had enough and decided to be honest with her about the way she treats people. She cut me out. My only regret is not cutting her out sooner. If a sibling is abusive you are well within your rights to demand better or cut them out, nobody should treat a person like that.

Watching this made me think about how I would answer the questions with my own sister. The other sibling videos didn’t resonate the same way for me because the questions weren’t as deep(?) or I guess the element of conflict wasn’t there. Since my history with my sister is muddy, this video really made me think.

Morgan •ω• Not calmly, haha. When we argue/talk seriously it’s mostly about her issues, not OUR issues. She’s apologized for some of it and at this point I’m not sure what the point of bringing up the past would be- wouldn’t it only make her angry and impair her growth? But then again, some of the problems still affect me today so why shouldn’t I talk about it? It’s an endless loop of questioning for me haha
@spag5296
@spag5296 7 жыл бұрын
Shadow_Owl242 You're maybe overthinking things a bit. It reminds me of how my friend is with her best friend. But I've suggested that they should talk things out together and be really upfront about it. My friend ended up learning a whole lot about her best friend that she hadn't known before, and their relationship would have rolled down the hill had they not been direct with each other. So I would suggest going in with a clear mind, pushing aside all the 'what ifs' and have a straight forward conversation. Set the ground rules first, maybe talk about how you want to approach this and the sort of conversation you want to have (civilised, no screaming at each other, letting out everything on each others minds). I think with any relationship, it crumbles if we don't communicate with each other. Be open, and find out everything you need to know. There may be underlying reasons as to why people act the way they do.

I haven't talked to my brother since December 2017. So just recently. I tried to tell him that my mom's treatment of him and me were really different. He was praised and the favorite child. And I resented him for that because I would always try to better our relationship but he would shut me out. I decided to lay out all my feelings to him and my mom. And the treatment got worse. He told me that he doesnt like me and he doesn't care if he ever hears from me again. my mom still acts like he is made of gold; she's proud to talk about him. So I've come to terms with not having the family that I need.

I really relate to this. I've always loved in my brother's shadow. I was born on his birthday, he's an incredible musician and a math and science prodigy. I've always been sick since I was a kid and never had the will to be as amazing as he is. He's smarter and stronger than me and always has been. I love him so much and have always looked up to him, even when we were little and fought like cats and dogs. I honestly don't know what I'd do if I lost him. We pretend to tight and be apathetic to each other, but we love to have deep conversations and comfort each other.

This video reminds me of me and my brothers relationship. He hadn't talked to me in years, wouldn't answer my phone calls or texts nothing, so I bought a plane ticket and left my family behind to go see what happened and to make sure he was ok... well after that trip he still doesnt talk to me. It heart breaking and I honestly can't wrap my head around it. We were super close growing up 6 years a part, he was the one person I looked up to him and now we don't talk.... his wife talks to me and their kids talk to me but I don't know what I did. I don't know why he hates me.

brother/sister relationships are so important. They really help us to understand and empathize with the opposite sex, as well as know what to expect and what to avoid and what to look for. There's such a disconnect btwn the sexes these days. Getting to re-know my brothers as adults has really helped me to see things from the male perspective, and my little brother asks me earnest questions about women that help both of us out. Plus I get to encourage them and tell them I'm proud of them, and they do the same for me. It's just something that goes beyond what parents can do for, or impart on their kids. I feel like my brothers give me a much more relatable and realistic example of men, and I want them to approve of any guy I might bring home much more so than I care about my dad's opinion. No disrespect to dad.

My brother has always run away from any relationship with me or any of my family. When I was 13 he ran away - he was 17. I didn’t see him until I was 19. From there he still only contacts me when he needs something, or he will act like my best friend only when my mother is around because she’s passing from cancer. From there, he still won’t even reply to a phone call or message. I imagine I’ll never get to have a big brother.

I hope it’s reciprocated, but at least I can be assured he doesn’t have to go through anything alone if he doesn’t want to. I don’t know how both of you didn’t cry the whole time, this was so intense. I have an older brother and just like her I felt that he was super critical about me and my decisions. I am not super close with him and that’s heartbroken because when we were kids that wasn’t the case. I thought that maybe later we could reconnect and that didn’t happened (we are both in our 20’s now) I would love to have this connection with my brother again, but maybe that’s not possible because he is moving really far away from me

this made me cry because I WANT to have a normal sibling relationship why can't me and my brother have a relationship like my friends siblings. why can't we just be like regular siblings. I KNOW he's toxic but I don't want him to be. I WANT an actual relationship with him but I can't. I know our relationship isn't healthy but I DESPERATELY wish it was. i want it to be like regular siblings SO BADLY but it's not.

My brother hasn't spoken to me in 20 years. We used to be best friends, and he has no memory of it - and doesn't care or want to find out why. Our parents are dead. He is the only family I have. But I have to remember that he said that blood doesn't always help blood. And I have to remember that really, I don't like him. I love him. But I don't like him. I want family so, so, so badly. My mother - who also didn't talk to me (or anyone else) - told me my whole life that my brother really did 'love me underneath it all'. A few months before she died I called her in the hospital, and she picked up, thinking it was her doctor. She would not have picked up if she had known it was me. Anyhow, she said to me that she was wrong; my brother didn't love me and he wouldn't be there for me. I am heartbroken every day and so profoundly lonely.

When she told him she looked up to him and they took different paths, it fucked me up. My brother pushed me out and threatened me because I came out as trans. He'd been my idol and my hero all growing up. We're 10 years and 19 days apart and we were best friends through both of his prison sentences and he cut me off and is still so unsupportive of me after four years of me being out. I get top surgery soon and it scares the shit out of me that I'll never have my best friend again. It's guilting me the most that I know I don't miss him nor do I want him in my life. I went to his trial and he never thanked me. He pushes his kids away from me because of his views. I loved this video and the message but unfortunately, it is not the same for everyone. Don't feel obligated to love someone because they're family. Your family is made up of people, people you don't have to keep in your life if they're not deserving. I hope no one else feels guilted by this because you are not alone. You're not.

I just hope he feels some sort of remorse. Though it may not be accepted, I'm willing to hear an apology. He hates who I am and I still go to his trials, love his kids, and invite him to my new apartment for Christmas Eve dinner and he exiles himself from everyone. I hope he feels remorse, maybe we can start there.

Don't stress your mind, person whom I don't know. By visiting someone who doesn't care about you tells me you care for him or is just doing some good in this shit life. Being transgender shouldn't define you as an alien, different from society.

My girlfriend is transexual and bisexual, and her family is extremely transphobic & homophobic. She can't come out until she is moved out and we are living independently and sharing an apartment together. Her family is not safe and it breaks my heart for her. But alas, she expected this and cut off emotional ties with them long before I came into the picture. Anyway, my point is do not blame yourself for your brothers choice. You are not an alien, you are not wrong for being you. It hurts to let go, especially to those that you grew up with. But if they are unwilling to accept you & continue to mistreat you, it is time for you to let go. I am with you, and I support you. Stay strong ❤
