Great interview! Over the past year, I've used Dr. Allison's approach to healing SIBO and have received SO many benefits. I thought I would have to live super close to carnivore for the rest of my life, but now I can tolerate many more plant foods! I actually knew Allison personally years ago. We worked together at a health food store when I was 17. She is genuinely the nicest person you'll ever meet! I'm so glad you had her on your podcast!

Hi Nili, I was able to be treated this way also. I did both traditional antibiotics and herbal a couple times or more and I have been cleared of it, but like I still have some issues. I still have gut issues and I now have histamine/MCAS. Also thinking you should share this with Amy as I know she has talked about lime.

Day 71 on the carnivore diet, began on Feb 28. I started with ribeyes, eggs, ghee, and beef tallow, but since day 43 it has been only beef, salt and water for SIBO, histamine intolerance, leaky gut, and celiac. Main symptoms were bloating (I didn't realize how bad until I started carnivore and now experience NONE) and rashes everywhere. I only eat at around noon and at about 6 pm, and total food for the day is around a kilo, or 2.2 lbs of beef. I don't snack and it is not a struggle at all, I really only start to feel hungry when lunch and dinner time are near. My rashes got much worse for the first 6-8 weeks, which is why I went strict beef, water, salt, to eliminate the possibility that eggs, ghee, or tallow was part of the problem still in my diet. Since I knew about oxalate dumping and the detox process I stayed the course. Around week 9 I hardly had any fresh rashes and what is left is drying up and healing. 11 years living with this problem after strep throat and 2 rounds of antibiotics. I have tried long term the Paleo diet, vegetarian, keto(but while vegetarian), and a diet that was personalized by a nutritionist, and I have never felt this good at any point in my life physically and mentally. Fitness and diet have been important for me since before the problems started, but the diet part I was getting wrong even though it was considered healthy. At about the 6 week mark I noticed that I felt stronger and more in control during my workouts than ever before. That hasn't stopped yet. I'm able to add extra weight to every workout, and I'm barely sore the day after. I can't believe the gains I'm making on this diet. I only take 4000 IU of vitamin D, and a few drops of iodine for supplements daily. I'm 6 feet tall and 39 years old, when I started the diet I weighed 165lbs (75 kg). Weight loss was not on the agenda, but since around the 2 month mark my weight hovers around 154 lbs (70 kg). I can't even hide my abs if I tried, I have never been so lean in my entire life. Before I began carnivore, I started a treatment that a team of specialists made for me based on all the bloodwork and tests and was taking over a dozen supplements during each phase of treatment. The funny thing is, literally the first thing I was told was that I was eating TOO MUCH red meat! Now that is the only thing I eat! I don't even know how much I blew on supplements, but it was significant because I live in Latin America now and they aren't cheap to get here. What a waste of 2 years following the treatment. Now my "supplement" is eating organ meats once in a while. Lately though I stopped eating it because I ate it to frequently one week and started to get swelling and pain in one of my fingers. When I started the diet I had the same thing in one of my big toes when I ate too much liver. Basically the beginning stages of gout from what I understand. So for those trying the diet, do be careful not to eat too much organ meats! Dr. Anthony Chaffee said he can count on 2 hands how many times he has eaten it in his life and doesn't believe it is necessary on the carnivore diet. I think I will follow that advice. I plan on continuing the lions diet (red meat, salt, water) until my skin is completely healed. Then I will look at slowly adding more carnivore foods one at a time to the diet to make sure I tolerate them before permanently adding it. I might end up ketovore in the end because I'd love to add things like avocado, coconut and coconut water to my diet. Whatever I do, it will be a diet that keeps me in ketosis, because damn, I can't believe how good I feel on no carbs! I share my story only in hopes that it will give someone else who struggles with mysterious health problems the courage to give this diet an honest try. I'm convinced that anyone who does the diet for 6-8 weeks will realize that WE ARE CARNIVORES, or at the very least, ketovores, when times were tough and meat was hard to come by. Good luck to everyone on their journey to optimal health!

@yesitrotamundos2904 Жыл бұрын
@@LukepSH88 I made bone broth in a slow cooker near the start and just had a little bit, had a big reaction, lots of fresh rashes the next day. I also suspect that ground beef causes me issues unless it is very freshly ground up. I think the best we can do with histamine intolerance is get fresh meat directly from a butcher shop. I do that and only buy about 3 days of food at a time. It is likely that it will get worse before it gets better as the body starts oxalate dumping. Also the body stores toxins in the fat to protect the organs, and on this diet, you lose fat very quickly and it forces the body to have to deal with it. Best of luck to you!

Insurance doesn’t cover the test. It also doesn’t cover the medication. The breadth test is $250-$350 and a dr has to request it. Rifaxamin is $2500 and insurance does not cover it. Programs to help pay for it are only geared towards the copayment and only covers if insured. It’s an expensive illness. Then you have all these doctors charging $8000 for a consultation or an online program.

Judy, that was SOOOO very helpful. I recently used a protocol I found on KZbin, which seems to have solved it for me. On an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, for one week each: Berberine (painful), Optimized garlic (crazy, right, after the recommendation against garlic and onions - both of which are not my friends) and Oregano oil. I am mostly carnivore ( @ 98% ) for about two years and followed some other small recommendations like no dairy. The thing about sugar (Sucanat) is true for me. Also, organic basmati rice is also okay occasionally. Some of the things she said, I had discovered like not drinking too much water at once, and it was encouraging to know that is correct. Now I'll need to be vigilant lest it recurs. Covid also disturbed my digestion. I learned so much from this video.🙏

It’s been almost 3 1/2 years and I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on with me. I suspect I have a few things happening like leaky gut, Sebo, I just cleared a CDF infection I’ve lost weight, I’ve been experiencing my absorption, deficiencies, major gut, and health issues, it’s affected my entire life and every day I am obsessively researching having to become my own doctor because I’ve been seeing by almost 30 or 40 different doctors and no one can even diagnose or tell me what’s happening. I still have more testing to do but even of all the doctors I’ve seen no one has even mentioned elemental diet to me. no one has asked me about my stools or what type of stools I’m having, no one asked me about my diet or what my diet includes. I’m not even a doctor, but I understand through common sense that these are the things that should be cared for, and looked into, and no one seemed to cared too much or be experienced enough for whatever it is to even dive into those areas with me And then when I’m over here, becoming my own doctor and informing myself and running these things by my doctors, they seem to have some ego and feel challenged by me and I’ve literally almost had doctors walk me out of their office cause they treated me like I knew better than they did when I’m just trying to ask and clarify because I’m not trusting my life or health in these doctors hands right now because no one seems to know what the fuck they’re doing and it’s frustrating And the only thing that has brought me any type of relief is a carnivore diet. This is not what I would prefer this is not fun. This is way too strict and extreme. Sorry to the carnivore community out there, but this is not fun for me. This is not how I want to eat the rest of my life, but no one has even mentioned, my options or like you said they’re just not educated enough and I just want Releaf to resolve this I understand statistically you see people who it’s hard to clear I believe through God through my faith through diet through all the right lifestyle and balance that I’m going to clear this completely I speak that over my life that is my intention but I’ve got to get the proper testing to get the proper diagnosis to get the proper treatments and I’m not gonna let any doctor tell me what is or is not possible for me because I do believe in miracles, and I believe like you said, as long as we get to the underlining causes issue, it can be fixed and treatedunless it’s just my time because we all have a number that’ll be pulled eventually but while I’m here I refuse to accept that for my life as if this is something chronic I have to live with the rest of my life. There is nothing chronic.

Appreciate this video. Thanks Judy. As someone has sibo, I've tired many of the treatment options Allison suggests but due to sibo I react to so many of them and feeling lost. The only way to get rid of sibo is the supplements and pharma she suggests? Surely there has to be a less complicated, more natural way? Btw maltodextrin elemental diet can be extremely tough for some people with sibo, like my self. Causes awful symptoms. Also many of the natural treatments like antimicrobial the fillers in them can be highly problematic, for example Allicin contains maltodextrin which produces severe symptoms in some people. I maintain there must be a better way of dealing with this rather than complex antimicrobial's that often don't work and contain ingredients that people react to, making it counterproductive. Also, so many people don't cure sibo with the processes Allison talks about, sibo comes back... therefore the methods she says aren't a cure for many people, there must be another way...

The reason most people get reinfected with sibo is because they have too little stomach acid ans their bile function is also Not working properly, probably because of the lacking acidity in the stomach. @@LukepSH88 i wish I knew. I’m suffering from this even on a carnivore diet, it got really bad after 1,5 years into carnivore actually. Natasha Campbell McBride has great information about it in her latest book but she also offers no real solution to this, probably because it’s very individual. At first you need to make sure there is no inflammation in your stomach, so no gastritis, this will lower acidity to protect the inflamed stomach lining and make sure you don’t have h. pylori, this bug neutralizes all your acidity. Then B1 deficiency can cause a lack of stomach acid and allegedly a lack of certain microbes in your microbiome, McBride wrote to take as many probiotic foods as possible if you have sibo and too little acidity.

Fascinating interview with plenty to “digest”! One question please Judy… many (if not all) of the elemental diet products available seem to contain a substantial amount of carbs from the dextrose. Surely this is more than the trace amounts occurring in meat only diet? And therefore better to do a 2 week strict carnivore WOE?

Dextrose is the same as glucose it's the simplist form of sugar that gets absorbed Rapidly in the upper part of the short intestine ( it can even by absorbed in the mouth by gum tissue ) . Bacteria found in the short intestine amd those associated with sibo usually prefer other forms of sugar . Carnivore won't work for many people because fat will slow down the transit time and we know that sibo is usually accompanied by a slow motility.

@@swyllie30 I watched the interview and it wasn't clear why an elemental diet apparently can kill sibo but a carnivore diet can not. If you know the reason it would be appreciated if you could share that.

@@swyllie30 thanks, tiny amounts surely, is the elemental diet is 100% carb free?

Thank you for this talk. My one and only symptom all my life is extreme gas via burping and flatulence . Even upon drinking water. Could be not food related. Carnivore very low carb has vastly improved this. Thinking about elemental diet, did some research, not really interested in taking synthetics. Then I found this 2021 study: A Zero Carbohydrate, Carnivore Diet can Normalize Hydrogen Positive Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth Lactulose Breath Tests: A Case Report January 2021 DOI:10.21203/rs.3.rs-148500/v1 LicenseCC BY 4.0 Link in next comment in case outside links get rejected, search the title above. I'm six years in on the carnivore diet currently only ruminant meat, rabbit, and water. I just took the SIBO breath test and blew high methane levels.

@@simplephat thanks for sharing. Curious why the Celiac’s hasn’t resolved with carnivore and also the SIBO. Do you have SIBO symptoms?
