Love it! I suppose if one could smash the like button multiple times it would lead to inflated stats 😂😂😂

Great video thank you, we were just in palermo and loved the story about the nuns
@anywherewithkristenАй бұрын
I was fascinated by that story as well. Did you end up seeing the fountain?

Yes we did. We actually loved our time in palermo

I have to say that I’ve been all over the world to different places and while they were interesting and beautiful, there really is no place like home for me. ❤
@anywherewithkristen29 күн бұрын
You are not wrong! But I do think, while there is comfort in familiarity, home can be wherever you want it to be, and where you feel connected.

Sicilians don't think they're Italian because they spoke a totally different language until less than 100 years ago. Sicily has it's own history, language and culture. They are proud of it.
@anywherewithkristen29 күн бұрын
You are not wrong. This is what makes the struggle real for them. They are a part of Italy and are Italian by every right, but struggle with feeling a part of that culture and, perhaps sometimes from those on the mainland of Italy, viewed less than Italian.

Sono siciliani e ti posso dire che hai totalmente torto . Noi siamo siciliani e molto orgogliosi di esserlo e. Contemporaneamente siamo italiani e orgogliosi di esserlo
@myradioon29 күн бұрын
@@paoloamato5598 Sicuro.

@anywherewithkristen29 күн бұрын
"La dolce vita", ne è un ottimo esempio. Sebbene il detto catturi tante cose positive, sorvola sulle numerose sfide che gli italiani a volte affrontano.

This is great! Yes, Mirage. It has been my dream to visit and possibly retire in Sicily. I have heard from family that my Sicilian grandfather talked about Palermo. However, I have yet to identify and confirm my Sicilian ancestry. Thank you very much!!!

Good luck in your quest! It can be daunting and frustrating at times. I know first hand. Sicily would be an awesome place to retire!

Do you remember that? I had totally forgotten we had been to that McDonalds when it opened until Scott inserted that into the video.

@ It is not something I remembered but seeing that picture did bring back memories of being there. Crazy how the brain works. Makes me want to visit all those places again.

Your video is showing and proofing that my plan would work! Going to Palermo by bus & train from Caccamo.. yay! My mother in law’s family came to America from Sicily and even after many generations, they (or at least my husband) want to be called they are Sicilian, not Italian. Thought it was interesting.
@anywherewithkristen14 күн бұрын
That’s a great route and I think you’ll find it very easy. And it is interesting how that Sicilian identity is maintained even after so many generations!
