I really like watching Boris play. He is very joyful, and a bit goofy, but clearly loves playing. Also, Boris' strikes are extremely precise and deliberate with great dynamic control. Here's hoping for live drums on the next Chimp Spanner studio recording!

Ahah yeah. I've met him when he was playing drums for Periphery because Matt Halpern was injured, he really nailed the drum parts and at the end of the show we talked for a minute and he was really happy to be there and pretty humble about the performance he did that night.

Boris' precision is outstanding...every strike almost exactly the same place on each head and cymbal. Dude is a true pro. Oh, and the fill at 2:36 gives me the shivers every time I hear it...just phenomenal.

The band on the recording on the whole CD is actually only our son Paul Ortiz (Chimpspanner). Boris is one of two insanely amazing drummers to have learned and played this music - the other being Michael Malyan. The other live musicians have been Jim Hughes on rhythm guitar and Adam Freeman Swam on bass. Shit - if only Chimp's mom and me had a band like this back in our day ;)

I really dig the drumming style. I just can't get into "djent". I'm not even going to call it that. That name is dumb. This type of metal I find boring, in my opinion mind you all, because of the one instrument dedicated entirely to chugging. but this drummer has great finesse and great timing. Great video.
