Guys like Sid are great and always disrespected by the "wrestling lifers" because they don't need the business. They came and did their job and made themselves a commodity. That should be everyone's goal: have promoters want your services, work less and make more. In a business like wrestling where you only have so many bumps in you and your body takes such a beating, that is a huge advantage and means you're doing something right. All the big companies knew Sid was money. He had a great look and on top of that, great charisma. His fist bump with the crowd was awesome. The Ric Flairs of the world, who claim to love this business so much, did everything they could to destroy a guy like Sid. To this day he still bashes Sid. Told that Arn Anderson story for years until proper context was given to the situation by Eric Bischoff and others.

Good comment. I can see both sides of it to a point. I understand the guys who live and breathe it having that old school mentality about protecting the business or yada. But I agree with what you said. Guys who get shit on like Sid or Ultimate Warrior or etc who aren't the best workers but did what they did well, had all the ingredients to build a bankable character. I hear that. It's both ya know. I'm just getting back into it. Used to be super into wrestling growing up in 90s and early 2000s

I agree. To me, Blanchard wasnt that great, and Flair bored me in the days of NWA on TBS. He talked well and put on great promos, but nothing really stood out. Ric Flair signed with the WWF one month after Sid debuted in 1991and they co-main evented their first Wrestlemania in separate matches at Wrestlemania 8 after Ric Flair won the Royal Rumble a few months earlier and became WWF world champ. Meanwhile Sid quit WWF less than a year after he debuted! How can Ric be jealous? Ric chose to go back to WCW because he got to be world champ another 20 times over there due to a thin main event roster. Unless you think Ric is jealous of Sid being in the worst Wrestlemania main event in WWF history, which I seriously doubt.
