I love these ladies. I vote bc my mom yelled @ me & cried when I told her I don't bc politicians don't help blk ppl. She told me no one agrees all or most of them, but ppl have been terrorized & killed to vote. The least we can do is vote. I hardly ever believe anything they say or help US, but I vote hoping that they'll do the right thing. I don't want to vote for Biden/Harris. I'm praying I can believe in someone/something. If not, I'll have to vote for someone. I may not trust them, but I have to do it.

Thank you Amanda and Tamika for your insightful and comprehensive conversation. I look forward to your interviews to encourage me in this heinous, white supremacist toxic environment. I love this episode! I admit, while I was once adamant about activism in my HBCU days, I’ve fallen far from it bc I felt (actually feel) like I have to choose between activism and paying off my student loans. Financial stability is important to me but so is doing the work that matters. This has really reawakened that in me and I want to get more tapped in…so I’m gonna start finding ways to do that. This was incredible I’ll be waiting for the part two!

This conversation with you two was so appreciated! I respect you both so much for your drive, fight, voice and love for Us! It can be very draining trying to speak on our behalf and sometimes it does make you want to step away, I know I’m guilty of it. It’s hard to feel the everyone can’t go and the everyone isn’t going to care until it touches their home directly. And you don’t want to see when that happens. But seeing you all in the fight, lending your voice it gives hope! It makes me want to get back involved because this truly is Our issues. Love you Sisters and thank you again! ❤

I am a voter! I always vote and I take my sons with me to the poles because I try my best to lead them by example. I do not vote JUST because it is my "civic duty" or because I feel that my vote counts; I also vote to pay homage to and to honor those who died, sacrificed, fought, and who desired change knowing that they may never experience or see that change. I am so disgusted with how African Americans are treated in every system in America (women, Native Americans, other minorities as well), especially our men and women being executed by law enforcement...that I am seriously considering if I am going to vote in the upcoming presidential election. I am tired!! I cannot say what I want to say...and I am fighting to not become what I see. I get angry, I hurt, I cry, and I have Malcom X moments. I know that my vote counts if I cast it or if I don't, but like me, I believe that many people are tired. It seems that nothing is changing. I vote in local elections as well, but nothing changes, we always see elected officials take office and take an oath, but prioritizes RICH/WEALTHY White America over the needs of ALL AMERICANS. Last night I saw the daughter & family of Deacon Johnny Hollman speak on his behalf to defend his character, which was defamed to justify his life being taken and to exonerate the not just the officer, but all parties who did absolutely nothing, they did not do their jobs!! Listening to his Deacon Hollman's daughter made me feel like this is our reality...we will always have to fight. I've been fighting for years; I know that if I don't sleigh these Golliaths, my sons, grandchildren, nieces, nephews... will have to face them. I don't want my kids to feel like me; "I'm fighting battles that I shouldn't have to fight" because the ones that came before me didn't want to deal with it, it was too much, or they were illiterate and/or ignorant and it crippled them. I Love and Respect Tamika for ALL of the work that she is doing !! I admire her and pray that God covers and protects her, her family, and everyone connected to her!! In Jesus name AMEN!!

Why not vote independent
@JamieBleu Жыл бұрын
Because they don't have enough power in the current government that controls everything. Voting independent locally makes sense but nationally it's too soon for that. That's why Bernie had to become a Democrat to even have a chance of winning the election. It's mathematics.
@tdginter Жыл бұрын
It's an option! Better candidates are often not Dems or Reps. But most of the time only a small percentage or registered voting even vote. If everyone eligible to vote, would vote for the best candidate, not just one of the 2 biggest parties, we'd have better people leading our communities & country. The USA was never supposed to be a 2 party country, however the 2 big parties don't want another party to potentially have control.

It’s been a month so I doubt anyone will see this but I have to disagree with y’all about voting, though perhaps not for the usual reasons. First of all, to limit the scope of the political to elections and what can be voted for in formal institutions is a mistake. The prime mover of most of the (very limited) political change we’ve seen in this empire has been social movements. The voting only happened *after* movements set the agenda…and that is even the case *on the RIGHT*. Second, the scope of change that is even possible under normal times is so heavily limited by the power of capital which is an actively anti-democratic force which shapes the political environment. It’s not that voting doesn’t matter in the absolute. It’s that voting doesn’t matter outside the scope of particular conditions which the focus on accepted channels of political engagement insist upon trying to limit.
@genoadear3186 Жыл бұрын
Just a comment off the rip from the intro with Tamika (haven't listened to the whole interview yet, its just starting). This is true, other non Black groups of people are eventually impacted as unintended consequences of systemic issues that were intended to solely impact Black people. Like pricing out Black people from being able to live and pay rent with affordability not being an issues. Now we got white and others complaining and airing out concerns, creating tenants unions. And guess what, NOW some cities are listening. Look up the City of Pasadena, that Tenants Union group got the city to mandate ROLLBACKS on rent cost throughout the city, and if the landlords don't comply, the tenants can withhold rent without being penalized. This need to happen everywhere!!! Signed SPBLM
