This Space Weather News forecast sponsored in part by Millersville University:
www.millersville.edu/swen
This week our Sun is beginning to ramp up activity due to a bunch of new regions rotating into view. At least seven new active regions have rotated into view over the last few days. We will be watching them very closely, as some of them are showing signs of increased flare activity. Amateur radio operators and GPS users should be aware that radio blackouts could pick up a bit over this week on Earth's dayside. These regions are also launching solar storms off the Sun's east limb, which means Earth-directed solar storms might also be back on the menu as we move through next week. In addition, several glancing solar storms will graze Earth over the next few days, possibly causing some minor disturbances at high latitudes. We may get a small pocket of fast solar wind mid-next week, but again, only minor disturbances are expected. Learn the details of the new activity, see the active regions from the Sun's farside that are about to rotate into Earth view and find out what else our Sun has in store.

Do you (or anyone here) have any opinion on when we will pass the solar maximum for the current solar cycle? I know it’s predicted for 2025 given the 11-year half of the current cycle, but I know that’s an estimate. Is the solar maximum something that is typically determined in hindsight after all the data are in and the sunspots steadily decrease in number?
@willowsloughdx
@willowsloughdx 5 ай бұрын
NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) issued a revised prediction for solar activity during Solar Cycle 25 two months ago. The updated prediction calls for Solar Cycle 25 to peak between January and October of 2024, with a maximum sunspot number between 137 and 173.
@robertfitch310
@robertfitch310 5 ай бұрын
My gut feeling and daily observations of Solar activity tells me that the peak may come sooner the October’24. Especially considering the sunspots survival rate rotating to the backside and returning empowered and joining newly developing spots.⛰🌲👨‍🌾🇺🇸🙏
@robertfitch310
@robertfitch310 5 ай бұрын
Also…with our weakening magnetosphere we are far more susceptible to negative effects of activity, making a peak worse on us here.⛰🌲👨‍🌾🇺🇸🙏

@@robertfitch310 Given that SWPC predicts the peak anywhere between January and October 2024 you are probably right. 🙄

I sure do love your forecasts. I do have a question for you and the group. Why does AM radio reception crater a night or so after a solar storm hits? Is it due to D layer energization? Thanks in advance for the answer.

The Life of Mankind It is common to think of the human mind as something which just happened in the last generation or so. The mind itself is actually as old as the organism. And according to earlier guesses and proofs established by this new science, the organism, the body, is rather old. It goes back to the first moment of Life’s appearance on Earth. First, there was a physical universe which happened, we know not how. And then, with the cooling planets, there appeared in the seas a speck of living matter. That speck became eventually the complicated but still microscopic monocell. And then, as the eons passed, it became vegetable matter. And then it became jellyfish. And then it became a mollusk and made its transition into crustacea. Life evolved into more and more complex forms, the Tarsius, the sloth, the anthropoid, and finally Man. There were many intermediate steps. A very materialistic Mankind seeing only the material universe, becomes confused and vague about all this. He tries to say that living organisms are simply so much clay, wholly a part of the material universe. He tries to say that after all it is only the “unending stream of protoplasm”, generation to generation by sex that is important. The very unthinking Man is likely to make many mistakes, not only about the human mind, but the human body. We discover now that the science of life, like physics, is a study of static’s and motion. We find that Life itself, the living part of Life, has no comparable entity in the physical universe. It isn’t just another energy or just an accident. Life is a static which yet has the power of controlling, animating, mobilizing, organizing and destroying matter, energy and space and possibly even time. Life is a CAUSE which acts upon the physical universe as an EFFECT. There is overwhelming evidence to support this now. In the physical universe there is no true static.
