Side puller is useful in the sense that you will have a second line, But other than that there is nothing it can do that a snatch block won't, Also with a wrecker you would not have to change positioning you could also do a side pull with the right rigging, But wreckers are fairly useless vs car carriers in most recoveries until you go up to medium and heavy duty recoveries, Pretty much all recoveries light duty can be done with a car carrier, which makes it easier to load and transport the recovery as well.

In restricted space I just put a snatch block on the corner of the wrecker deck for a side pull. Holmes 800 on a 1 ton.

It's common practice, The main benefit with the side puller is not even the fact that it side pulls, It's the fact that it adds a second winch, the winch and the added snatch block points to the side to allow better redirect spots is what makes it useful, For example, I saw a guy zipline a motorcycle up a hill with the one winch lifting the bike from a tree and the side puller and the other winching it up, shit like that you could never ever do without a second winch and the added redirect points, And as shown in the video winching the car up sideways, wouldn't be all that easy with one winch.

What kind of truck is that? or is the sp9000 workable on any truck?

Hi Syed, I believe it's a Freightliner M2 extended cab. The Sidepuller can be mounted with about 11-12 inches between the cab and the deck. Hope that helps!
